StethacanthusStethacanthus, known as the anvil shark or ironing board shark was a small ratshark-like fish that lived 360 to 340 million years ago. It was unique for its flat dorsal fin which resembled an ironing board. It also has little spines on the top. These relatively small creatures were approximately 70 cm long, and the fossils have been found in Asia, Europe, and North America.HelicoprionHelicoprion is an extinct shark which lived approximately 290 to 250 million years ago during the Early Permian to Early Triassic Periods. Helicoprion is famous for its spiralled tooth-whorl. Their entire lower jaw is composed of a whorl of teeth, which acts as a "buzz-saw". However, the recent study has found evidence that suggests this large creatures is actually part of Ratfish family.
