There are some amazing cities sunk into deep ocean due to natural disasters or the need for human progress. Here are some of the most mysterious sunken underwater cities discovered in the world.

Baia was an ancient city of Rome that was on the shore of the Gulf of Naples. It was ransacked during the 8th century by Saracens and eventually deserted by 1500 before floodwaters later swallowed up the town. Many Roman sculptures had been excavated including the Aphrodite of Baiae. Among the most significant and remarkable remains are several dome-like structures such as the great so-called Temple of Mercury, the Temple of Venus, and the Temple of Diana. As the coast sank, much of baia was now submerged in the Bay of Naples, largely due to volcanic activity there.

Lion City, China
The Lion City, otherwise known as Shi Cheng, is an ancient submerged city that lies at the foot of Five Lion Mountain. The City was built during the Eastern Han Dynasty and was first set up as a county in 208 AD. In 1959, the city was submerged due to a hydro-electric power project by the Chinese government. It was not rediscovered until 2001 when the Chinese government organized an expedition to observe the remains of the city. Surprisingly, they found several well-preserved Ming and Qing dynasty buildings, including pagodas, temples and countless arches.
