Excerpt Christianity: An Imperialist Ideology
This is an excerpt from a long article which the late Major T.R. Vedantam wrote in 1982, and which forms part of Christianity: An Imperialist Ideology published by Voice of India in 1983.
The motivation for Christian evangelism is simple. Disrupt and destroy. The missions make no secret of it. It is a mistake to think that Christian missionary enterprise is a religious movement. The Christians themselves never claimed it to be a religious movement. It was a declaration of war and an attack on the religious and cultural set up of the people of Asia and Africa, and it was always politically motivated.
Traditional religion has collapsed in Christendom, which is no more Christian. This is a post-war phenomenon. The divorce of the Church and State relationship, the old pattern, is now complete. But it has now emerged in a different form. The old theology based on untenable doctrines and dogmas has been totally discarded by the industrialized West with its new religion of scientific technology. The Church, therefore, is undergoing a process known to social scientists as politicization. The term does not mean merely political activity. By politicization of religion is meant the internal transformation of the faith itself so that it comes to be defined in terms of political values. This has resulted in the entry of the State into areas which were formerly the traditional preserve of the churches. That means, the Church State relationship has been reinstated in a new form.
The Church is today a tool for organizing political action as decided and directed by the State. There is a clear distinction between the involvement of religion with politics and the reinterpretation of religious values as political values. This is the politicization that is happening in the modern Church. If the Church does not agree then the justification for its existence just disappears. Christians as a religious body do not exist today in the Western world in a meaningful way. But Christian evangelism is still reaping a harvest in the Third World. Thus the political consciousness of Christianity in the developing world actually originated within the politicized churches of the old world. The Christian religion has lost the power and the confidence to define its areas of influence and jurisdiction even on questions of social morality. In their death agonies, the churches are distributing the causes of their own sickness — the politicization of religion of the churches in the developing world in Asia and Africa. This can be a fatal inheritance in the Eastern countries where religion is not yet so dead.1
Liberation Theology
This is the post-war model of Christian religion. The Chris- tian missions now claim that it has become their duty to liberate the oppressed and the suppressed all over the world. This movement works through the World Council of Churches (WCC) and the International Christian Council, etc. These organisations work under the direction and control of the governments of the Western superpowers. The USA, Canada, Britain, and Australia are in the forefront. USSR and China also seem to have a finger in the pie on their own terms. The Anglo-American group is keen to liberate India, Afghanistan, Laos, Kampuchea, VietNam, Thailand, Cuba, Iran, etc. According to them, Tibet, South Korea, South Africa, Rhodesia, El Salvador, Nicaragua, Diego Garcia etc. do not come into this scheme. Countries in the Soviet zone of influence feel that these countries like Tibet, Salvador, South Korea etc. have to be urgently liberated from the “tyranny of the imperialists” and the “Reactionaries.” Leftist groups have also been making a lot of noise about the need for drastic action to be taken to eliminate Racism from Africa.2
It is interesting to note that many of the high-ranking dignitaries of the Church, occupying key positions in these world councils and the international missionary organizations, happen to be all war veterans of World War II vintage. These Patriarchs installed as the heads of the Church hierarchy are talking in the language of exporting revolution to other countries. These Christian organizations, when making serious inroads into politics, use some special type of technical phraseology to make everything euphemistic. In the concept of Liberation Theology are also included the concepts of internal disruption, use of violence, civil disobedience, organizing resistance movements, etc.3
While the programme continues and even expands, it is worth noting that most of the money disbursed through these special funds has come not from traditional donors, but from new ones, mostly governments. This government element worries some critics within the organizations who see in it some dangerous portents. It is a breach of the Church and State relationship brought about not necessarily by philosophical arguments, but by pragmatic ones involving a political approach. Another serious implication is that some governments will be consciously aiding subversion in some other country. In 1925, in a conference at Stockholm sponsored by Life & Work and the Faith & Order Movements they postulated the slogan “Doctrine divides: Service Unites”. These critics or the dissenters now feel that this slogan has now been reversed to read “Doctrine unites; Service divides”. The ethical philosophy of Jesus is dead, and a political philosophy of violence has now taken its place. The developed countries are now making a serious effort to subvert and overthrow the governments established by law in the developing countries, using the churches as their tools.4
John Foster Dulles published a book, War or Peace, in 1957 (Macmillan, New York). In the chapter ‘Policies in Asia’ he writes: “In the past the United State policy in the east rested on the foundations of friendly relations with China. Our people, through Government, missionaries, doctors, and educators, have shared and built Chinese friendship for more than a century. Out of it have come such political doctrines as the ‘Hay doctrine of the open door’ in China, the ‘Hughes doctrine of territorial integrity.’ Out of it have also come Boxer Fund scholarships, Christian colleges in China, and Christian medical centres, including a Rockfeller Foundation development at Peking.”5 Here Mr. Dulles is making a clear-cut statement that the USA has been using the Church and the mission organizations and institutions to build up its close relations with China. The Church in China is no more under the tutelage of the USA. Similar changes are coming up in other areas also.
Sixty years ago Christianity was at loggerheads with Communism. But today Liberation Theology is working in the grooves of Marxism. This has produced a most anomalous situation for the World Council of Churches, which is very much dependent on the Anglo-Americans for its finances. They have to apply this ideology to support the political ambitions of the capitalist West which has used and still continues to use the Church as a tool. The Church is only too willing to co-operate.
In the meanwhile, Christianity has become a danger and a threat to the safety, security and freedom of India. It is not yet too late. But it will brook no further delay. It is time that the Government and the people of this country tackle this problem with all the energy and resources at their command.

How Unholy Business Thrives in the Holy Land

Money laundering in Israel has reached colossal proportions in the last few years, fuelled by the rise of Russian organised-crime since the collapse of the Soviet Union, liberal banking laws and bank secrecy policies.
Billions of illegally acquired dollars from Russia and the former Soviet republics, South America, Africa and Europe have passed through Israel in the last few years, securing its status as one of the world's leading money laundries.
Israel's police believe Russian gangsters are taking advantage of the money-transfer laws aimed at attracting Jewish people to the country, to deposit profits and launder funds. Their operations include narcotics and prostitution rackets, bribes and cream-offs from government funds and loans. But they also involve the winnings from a massive asset-stripping exercise that began under the former president Mikhail Gorbachev and has been underway since, turning Russia into a kleptocracy in which corruption runs from the top to the bottom of the society. They are helped by the 1 million former Soviet citizens living in Israel who have arrived since 1991.

Social corruptions caused by Christianity:
I must start this article by saying that this "corruption" in America I ran across several times already by "American Christians", where a brother has sex with his sister, an uncle has sex with his niece and an individual loses his/her virginity at a very young age is very common among Christians.
Let me give you few examples of the above. Please go and rent the American movie "Cruel Intentions".
The story of this movie is about a group of high school students in a Roman Catholic school. There is this very rich guy who has a very expensive car that no one in the school has and he has a sister. He used to go out with girls, have sex with them and leave them or dump them.
Later in the movie, he buys this magazine where he sees an article about a blond hair blue eyes girl in her early 20's where she claims that she is still a virgin and that she hasn't yet found her real love (sexual relationship).
The sister tries to make a bet with the brother about scoring (sleeping) with that virgin girl. The bet was, if he fails, then she gets to own her brother's expensive car. But if he wins, then he gets to sleep with his sister. The sister told him "If you win, you can put it (your penis) anywhere (including anal)."
Anyway, later in the movie they show us that the brother's "wickedness" (by sleeping with girls and dumping them) had finally back fired him where he fell in love with that virgin girl and she really broke his heart. He finally got to sleep with her. But his sister refused to sleep with him because she called him a loser because he compromised himself a lot for that virgin girl that he loved.
Finally, the brother dies in an accident and his new girlfriend (the virgin girl that he took her virginity) was there on site during his last moment in life. He told her with tears in his eyes "I love you Annett" and she said "I love you too".
Then later in the movie, his girlfriend (who never met his sister) met his sister in the women's bathroom in high school. The girlfriend saw a picture of his sister before, and she recognized her. The girlfriend told the sister "I am sorry for what happened to your brother, and if you need a friend, then I would like to be there for you".
====> Here is the most ironic part of all. The girlfriend also told the guy's sister "You know, I usually turn to Jesus to help me through my problems."
I must say that I watched another movie in the past where a brother did have a sexual relationship with his sister but I can't remember the name of it. I also must say that I once heard a radio a guy falling in love and having a sexual experience with his niece. He said that Jesus loves both of them and he is helping them to love each others.
I hear on the radio all the time Christian ministers saying that works are not important because we are forgiven. It's faith that counts (that's one of the differences between the Jehovah's witnesses and the other Christians. JW's believe in having faith and work too; faith alone can't save the person. But that's another topic to discuss). HOW CAN WE HAVE STRONG FAITH WHEN WICKEDNESS IS ALL OVER OUR SOCIETY?
If you watch "MTV Love Line" on MTV Channel, then you will see how they openly talk about sex and sex life here in America. Many of the audience wear necklaces with a cross and have absolutely talking about their sexual experience that they had with their boyfriends/girlfriends. Many of them are gays and lesbians and bisexual as well.
Few points:
1- I don't know how much more destruction to the morals, ethics and values does the current "corrupted Christianity" have to do more from damages to the society in order for the people to realize it.
2- It is the current corrupted Christianity that is causing all of these satanic corruptions in the society from having brothers sleeping with their sisters, to uncles marrying their nieces, to men marrying men in California, etc....
3- It is the current corrupted Christianity that is causing all of the girls and boys to lose their virginity at a very young age.
4- I think it is the most ironic thing that a girl in her early 20's is such a "BIG DEAL" because she maintained her virginity here in the US in "Cruel Intentions" movie.
5- It's quite obvious that JE$U$ (We Muslims believe in and love and respect Jesus) in the corrupted Christian societies is always the excuse for the corruption. In "Cruel Intentions" movie, they pictured that girl who lost her virginity as a sweet Christian angel throughout the movie, while she (1) Promoted a great deal of corruption in the society when she advertised for herself to find the best man to have sex with, and (2) With her article she caused so many men to get mentally effected and emotionally disturbed because they all wanted to get her but none could.
6- It seems that every Satan out there does a great deal of destruction to the society and still have the nerves to preach Christianity and act like he is a big angel and as long as he carries love in his/her heart to others, then he/she will be saved.
7- I blame the current corrupted Christianity for the permanent brain damage that it caused to the Christian society. It seems that everywhere there are Christians and Christianity, Satan would be having a great time and enjoying himself.
Even in the Middle East (the most conservative region in the world), Lebanon is the most sexually open country in that region because it is dominated by Christians. Most of the Lebanese Christian women lose their virginity before marriage.
I once saw on my Arabic Satellite Dish the Christian Sunday Prayers in Lebanon. As the people were singing in church, the camera man was showing everyone in the church row by row. I saw with my naked eyes women wearing dresses that showed half of their breasts and most of their legs in church in Lebanon on TV.
8- It is quite obvious that wherever there are Christians, there is Satan and corruption and sexual openness. Therefore, it is safe and mature to say that Christians are Satan's followers.
If it's ok in Christianity to have sex before marriage, ok to live with someone without marriage (like boyfriend or girlfriend), ok to have anal sex with the same gender (see www.godlovesfags.com and see the thousands of Christians who support them through their guest book) or the other gender, ok for the brother to sleep with his sister, ok for people to expose most of their bodies (by wearing bikinis for instance), ok to spread wickedness among society, then:
WHAT'S NOT OK TO DO THEN????!!!! AND WHY DID GOD DROWN TO DEATH THE PEOPLE OF LOTT AND NOAH THEN? DIDN'T THEY DO THE SAME EXACT THING AS THE CHRISTIANS ARE DOING TODAY FROM SODOMY, AND ILLEGAL SEX WITHOUT MARRIAGE??!!

The Holocaust and the Zionist Conspiracy Behind it

Introduction
The Second World War began on September 1, 1939 when Germany invaded Poland (1). The dictator during this period, Adolph Hitler, was a charismatic leader whose followers believed that he could lead Germany out of economic depression from World War I. It was during this second World War, that Hitler's plan for a stronger German Nation and the deep rooted anti-Semitism of Germany would finally come to a terrifying and tangible conclusion. Through the vision of Adolph Hitler, Nazi Germany would annihilate almost the entire population of European Jews. This plan evolved into what would later be termed the Holocaust.
According to the Revisionists, or Holocaust Deniers, the entire Jewish Holocaust is propaganda or a hoax. The Holocaust was yet another example of Jewish lies. Deborah Lipstadt asserts that, "The existence of the Holocaust is not up for debate, for to argue with a Holocaust denier about the authenticity of this event would give them a legitimacy and a stature they in no way deserve" (2). Relating to this monumental historical event, unlike most pieces of history, the indiscriminate idea of "two sides to every story," is completely inappropriate. As President Woodrow Wilson once said, "Yes, there are two sides to every question, a right side and a wrong side" (3).
The notion of 'the other side of the holocaust' is a denier's concept of distorting the truth and irrefutable facts. The deniers asseverate that the Holocaust was a Zionist conspiracy. Zionist aspiration was to gain the sympathy of the world in order to disguise their intention of inevitably controlling the world economy and politics. The real reason behind this profession is the anti-Semitic opinion of the deniers. The evidence that the deniers present are not new, revolutionary ideas, for anti-Semitic thought has around since the beginning of history. Therefore, explaining the background behind the denier concepts is key to understanding their claim of the 'Zionist conspiracy' and Jewish lies.
The deniers portray themselves as historians only interested in the facts (4). They attract groups of extremists who are seeking justice for the 'atrocities' committed against the Nazis and Germany. The central assertion for the deniers is that the Jews are not victims, but victimizers (5). The deniers assert that the Jews lied to the world in order to proceed with a plot to control the world banks and eventually the entire globe. The idea of a Zionist conspiracy to control the world, translates into modern day Holocaust denial. According to the deniers, "The Jews as a nation, or a people will stop at nothing to achieve complete political and religious domination of the world. The means by which this universal domination is to be achieved are set forth with great clearness and considerable elaboration" (6).
Revisionists believe that, the Holocaust was a "myth" to destroy Germany's good name and win international sympathy because of what the Jewish people claimed had happened to them during World War II (7). Numerous years after the war, relocated Jews were awarded sums of money from Germany. They were offered this as compensation for losing everything during this horrific war. The denier contention is that the Jews desired these large sums of money to degrade the Germans. With this money, the state of Israel could then be established. Therefore, the Holocaust was an invention of the Jewish and Zionist leaders. Israel was created from the guilt induced by the Jews. The Jews desired the creation of Israel so strongly that, according to deniers, they would lie or cheat their way into a situation to benefit all Jews.

Zionism
"The birth of the Jewish state, in 1948, was the fulfillment of the Zionist dream" (8). The Jews became a landless people who had wandered for thousands of years. By choice, they never accepted the customs of where they lived. To a Jew, assimilation into a 'strange' country meant giving up the goal of residing in a Jewish nation. They wanted to return to their historic homeland of Palestine. Jews has no nationality except that they were the children of Israel (9). Up until the late 1940's, the reality of Israel was a far-fetched dream. Zionist thought stems from this basic idea of Jewish nationalism. As M. H. said, "Jews were at best suffered, no where were they welcome or loved; there was a world of differences in body and soul between the Semites and those whose ancestors lived in North Europe (10).
Hess, a Jewish socialist who wrote in the eighteen hundreds understood this imperative concept of Jewish 'separateness'. "We shall always remain strangers among the nations. They may even be moved by a sense of humanity and justice to emancipate us, but they will never respect us, so long as we make, 'ubi bene ibi patria' our guiding principle, indeed almost a religion and place it above our great national memories. Religious fanaticism may cease to cause hatred of the Jewish in more culturally advanced countries; but despite enlightenment and education, the Jew in exile who denies his nationality will never earn the respect of the nation among whom he dwells" (11).
This vehement reaction to non-assimilation has caused animosity between Jews and gentiles. Conforming to gentile beliefs was not the manner with which the Jews desired to gain respect. Jewish individuality was significant to their intrepid traditions. "Zionism has always regarded assimilation as its main enemy, without clearly distinguishing between emancipation and assimilation. It has decried life in the Diaspora as physically unsafe and morally degrading, intolerable for proud self-respecting Jews" (12).

Zionism and the History of Anti-Semitism
To understand Zionism and the Jews one must learn their oppressive history. Zionism is a nostalgia for the lost homeland and the Jews dream of redemption from misery. The Jews had been without a nation since the beginning of written history. Unfortunately, many people believe the Jews do not 'deserve' Israel, that it was given to them out of guilt and therefore does not truly belong to them. It has been an uphill struggle for the Jews to gain national acceptance of their right to Israeli land.
The deniers manifest their notions of conspiracy and prejudice from old anti-Semitic ideas. A response to anti-semitism is Zionism. Zionism is a paradox. "If it had not been for the increase in tension and anti-Jewish persecution, Zionism might still have existed as a small literary-philosophical sect of idealistic reformers" (13). Anti-Semitism is long lived and evident since the beginning of history. Akin thoughts are still apparent in denier arguments.
There are a few concrete explanations for historical anti-Semitism. The Jews were confined to certain types of business. The gentiles were admit about suppressing Jewish business aspirations. They were allowed to pursue occupations that were undesirable to non-Jews. They were in the service industry: money lenders, lawyers, physicians, and other roles that were considered low class. The old speculation of pawn broking in the textile industry, jewelry, and second hand goods trade had a negative role that no one wanted or couldn't take because of religious beliefs. |

The Jews though made these jobs into money making occupations. This caused a jealous reaction and created tension between the Jews and gentiles. "The Jews did not feel bound by guild rules of conduct, and the spirit of innovation, they developed by their checkered and dangerous existence in exile," (14) and this helped them further themselves into economic gratification. The Jews economic activity began to concern Christians with the threat of competition. From this arose bitter rumors about the Jewish character. The Jews supposedly spoiled all commerce, particularly retail trade. They sucked the blood of the poor and did not contribute his due taxes (15). The Jewish guilt of the ruin of gentile merchants has no merit, though, for if they were guilty then no Christian would ever go bankrupt in places where no Jew lives (16). The Jew was a swindler and dishonest business man who could not be trusted. Because of their customs, they were vicious and dishonest, incorrigible and incapable of regeneration (17). Jews were "vermin engendered by a long peace, a species born a totally rotten situation" (18).
These hateful ideas have not changed, but grown into a belief of a 'Zionist conspiracy'. After the Holocaust, a paranoid vision of the Jewish world conspiracy had a geo-political center in Zion (19). Ideas spread of Zionist plots to rule the world have its base in anti-semitism. If people give credence to anti-Semitic ideas as the 'Zionist conspiracy', then they will fearful of a Jewish state.

Denier Arguments
It is crucial in understanding the denier argument to focus on the 'Protocols' as they are a basis for modern holocaust rebuttal. The deniers argument is that the Holocaust is the Zionist lie to create a powerful Jewish state. With this nation, the Jews will be able to control the world from their influence, military authority and manipulating ways. A denier book that circulates the alleged Zionist plot is called the Protocols of the wise men of Zion. The deniers claim it was a document published in 1905 written by Serge Nilus, a Russian novelist. "The protocols set forth a comprehensive program for substantial destruction of all states (20). This document set out to blame the Jews for the freemason revolution in Russia during this period. Tsar, Nicholas II, was convinced that the Jews were engaged in a conspiracy for world Domination and Russian defeat because of this Bolshevist, or Jewish, propaganda. (21). The 'Protocols' are the alleged words written by Zionist Rabbis who plot to bring the 'goyim' (22) under Jewish control. "Our Kingdom will be distinguished by a despotism of such magnificent proportions as to be at any moment and in every place in a position to wipe out any goyim who oppose us by deed or word" (23). The Protocols have ostensible 'secrets' that were discovered and exposed by the gentiles.
The beguiling Jews, will achieve their complete monopoly of the world from this Zionist conspiracy. The result justifies the means. The Jews will direct their attention not so much to what is good and moral as to what is necessary and useful (24). This idea returns to the hoary notion that all Jews need and desire is self-indulgence, love of material possessions. Jews were driven by the need for superficial indulgence, not 'Christian' morals and values. Jews were opportunists waiting to deceive and cheat. "Evil is the one and only means to attain the end. the good. Therefore we must not stop at bribery, deceit, and treachery when they should serve towards the attainment of our end. In politics one must know how to seize the property of others without hesitation if by it we secure submission and sovereignty (25).
The Protocols continue saying that the Jews gather strength in their power over the press. Through the press, the Jews gain enough influence to sway gentile speculation. The Jews manipulated the press back in 1905 therefore, it is completely possible that they could influence global information causing the 'myth' of the Holocaust to be believed. This correlation is strikingly parallel to the Holocaust deniers.
The Holocaust deniers. make many of their allegations by impressions that Jews have incredible clout and power in the international community. "The Jewish international rights are to be strengthened at the expense of national rights of the several Gentile nations (26). They have enough influence to convince and manipulate the world's prevailing belief of what occurred during World War Two. The American press has the strongest Jewish propaganda machine in the world. Even Americans are deluded by Zionists for the media participated in the hoax of the Holocaust. There is no evidence of proof of these conspiracies, only undertones of anti-Semitic language and attitude. The claim that the Holocaust is a Zionist lie is proof of their anti-Semitic assertions (27).
W. Carto, founder of the denier's Institute for Historical Review, formed this society to "prove that the alleged murder of six million Jews was a hoax invented by Zionists to make people feel sorry for them (28). Denier H. Barnes, also agrees with this Zionist fraud, stating the "The Israeli politicians who derived billions of marks from German reparation, from non-existent mythical and imaginary cadavers numbers have been reckoned in an usually distorted and dishonest manner (29).
The deceitful Jews, once again, contorted truth and convinced the world of alleged atrocities committed. In denier reality, it was the Zionists who were the main force behind the holocaust. Jews fostered the myth of the Holocaust because it generated 'tremendous financial aid' for Israel and renders organized Jewry 'almost immune from criticism' (30). The Jews fraudulent six million was to achieve their political and military objectives (31).
Paul Rassinier, a socialist writer in the late nineteen forties, discussed the presence of the 'Zionist establishment' and their exaggerated experiences relating to the Holocaust. The 'Zionist establishment' made the death toll higher believing that from this lie, greater financial reward was inevitable. With the aid of Jewish historians and Zionist establishment, inflated the number of dead in order to 'swindle' the Germans out of millions of marks. The existence of Jews, supposedly killed, was kept secret in order to inflate the amount of money Israel was able to extract from the Germans (32). According to Rassiner, the Jews wanted to make the Germans the "everlasting milk cow". "Their dishonesty and that of the Jewish institutions with which they were formally or informally associated was motivated by a traditional Jewish vice: the move of money (33). The truth though is that Germany paid Israel money, not based on the death toll, but the cost Israel endured to absorb and resettle Diaspora Jews (34). The deniers attempt to paint Jews in a negative light; changing information, falsifying documents, and spreading vicious lies.

Evidence Against the Deniers
The Holocaust is a tangible, vicious attack of anti-semitism, and the belief that it is a farce, painfully demeaning to Jews and Gentiles alike. In all the teachings of the Torah, there is the predilection of 'love thy neighbor'. Jews are taught to honor their family, and G-d, to treat others with respect. The Torah focuses on caring and the importance of education. The core of Judaism can be explained from one story. A group of Rabbis, in the ninth century, were asked to explain the essence of Judaism in its simplest form while standing on one leg. All Rabbis struggled except Rabbi Hillel, a wise Jewish scholar. He declared, "do unto others as you would have them do unto you, that is the Torah, the rest is commentary." If one took the time to study what the Jews do teach each other, then the 'Zionist conspiracy' would have no basis.
In my ten years of religious training, I never heard an utterance of a Jewish conspiracy to take over the world. We spoke of the value of learning, love, family, and respect for life. My upbringing was full of phrases such as, "respect your elders, and be kind to people, no matter who they are." I was brought up in a world of love, not hate and mistrust. I was never told that one day the Jews will conquer the Gentiles for retribution of the oppression they caused the Jews. Jews are not people who seek revenge, just understanding. It is more important for a Jew to debate historical, religious text and question the Torah, then to plot to kill the Gentile people. There is no Jewish conspiracy to control the world. Jews can barely keep Israel in their power, let alone the entire world. Jews want peace and closure to anti-semitic sentiment, not ignorant lies and hateful allegations made against them.
An interesting point to bring up is the fact that, Christianity and Judaism in their bare form are essentially the same religion. How can deniers claim that Judaism is an evil religion, if Judaism is the basis for their own religion? The two religions can not be that dramatically distinct, especially relating to moral values. Anti-Semites believed that the Old Testament was not intended for all mankind, even the Jews do not state; they want to keep these books for themselves alone. In this way to distinguish themselves from the 'Goyim', whom G-d would not have judged worthy of happiness (35). For the Jews were the people chosen by their G-d, who is the G-d chosen by his people, and this concerns no one but him (36). According to the deniers, Jews wanted to separate themselves because they felt the necessity for division. Anti-Semitic hostility evolved from these impressions that the Jews believed they could divide and conquer by keeping a separate lifestyle and distinct culture.
Ironically, Zionism's aim was to regain Jewish self-respect and dignity in the eyes of the non-Jews. Theodor Herzel, one of the founding fathers of Zionism, once wrote that Zionism was crucial to rebuild a Jewish national home for Jews to live as free men on their own soil, to die peacefully in their own homes (37).
Zionism is important to the Jews, because ignorance causes one to rationalize anti-Semitic ideas. Prevalent and imperative to the denier movement is to create drama and resentment towards the Jews. Of coarse this derives from ancient anti-Semitic notions. The Protocols is just one example of anti-Semitic literature. The Protocols were plagiarized from a document called the "Dialogues in Hell". 'Dialogues' was written in 1864 by Maurice Joly. This document is a conversation between Machiavelli and Montesquieu. 'Dialogues' is strikingly similar to the Protocols of the wise men of Zion. Both claim that they are the response to the call of the conscience and a tool of the coalition for good. Both profligate extreme anti-Semitic images. In truth, the Protocols written by S. Nilus, admitted that the Protocol document was a response to the growing animosity towards Bolsheviks and Jews, not from genuine accounts of Zionist plots.
Commonly, when nations were in times of economic turmoil, they turned to the Jews to blame. Jews were susceptible to abuse and attacked as the despoilers of the Gentile people. In Germany, they concluded the Jews spread anti-capitalist ideas forcing Germany into the ground. "The Jew had no spirit, no passion, soul, no inner capacity for life, no true music or poetry. He is a cold, loveless, purely cerebral being" (Wistrich 56). The denier consistently refers to old anti-Semitic stereotypes. The idea that Jews do not care about the human soul; only the Torah and Talmudic teachings. Therefore, it was easy to cheat, lie, and manipulate Gentiles because the Jews merely did not care. There was a belief that the Jews could survive off others misfortune because of this cerebral, heartless attitude. What a denier does not comprehend, is that even though a core aspect of Judaism is the Torah and its teachings, these teachings are words of kindness and love, sharing and friendship, not plots to control the world banks. One will never find conspiracy ideas in any Judaic writings.
Denier and anti-semitic literature both suggest that a Jew was Germany's misfortune. They polluted German thought by promoting liberal ideas, radicalism, and social democracy (38). It was easy to condemn Jews for German's political problems because of the Jews historic stereotype as the malicious intended. Jews dominated the press and stock exchange in a Semitic' conspiracy to dominate Germany and Austria (39). Jews needed to control these powerful, money making industries to slowly absorb non- Jewish power. With the control of the press, the Jews finally could portray themselves in a sympathetic light. The Jews plotted the Holocaust because they knew, with the world's condolences, they could achieve Zionist goals. Palestine would be theirs' for the taking. If the Jews had the influence that the deniers asserted, then why were they without a nation before 1948. If the Jews had the world's empathy, control of the banks and of the press, then how would the Zionists let the Holocaust occur? The deniers believe it was to gain Israel, but contradicts their whole Holocaust conspiracy story. With power over the press and government, can't the Jews avoid persecution? The truth is, the Jews did not focus on 'Zion' because most did not believe it would ever become reality. No one Jew could sway the Turkish, then British to donate this land. The Zionist conspiracy theory has no basis or proof. The Protocols and denier claims are plainly anti-semitic ideas. The deniers only want to cause harm, or to expose the 'real' history that has been keep closely guarded for so long. That is a denier lie.

Reality Versus Fallacy
There are consistent reoccurring themes in all this anti-Semitic, Zionist conspiracy thought. Assuming Christianity was superior to Judaism, anti-semitism was viewed as a 'natural' response to a concrete Jewish presence. It was an anti-semitism without Jews (40). Jew-hatred no longer required any connection with real relations. It was the cultural dynamic and the basic distinction that set Jews and Gentiles apart. By focusing attention on allegedly permanent, unchanging characteristics of the Jews as a social and national group, the anti-Semites hoped to delegitimize Jewish equality (41). No other religion has so consistently attributed the Jews a universal, cosmic quality of evil, depicting them as children of the devil, followers of anti-Christ or as the synagogue of Satan. (42). The Jews were the murderers of G-d. They were condemned to wander in exile, for they were the rejected and abandoned people of G-d. Jews became the "locust which have been sucking the marrow of Europe . They are returning to the promised land and are already looking for greener pastures. At best Zionism is the impotent effort of an unfit people achieve something constructive, but in the main it helps ambitious speculators as a new field in which to practice usury on a world wide scale" (43). This inflammatory statement and the denier arguments ignite anger in the minds of Jews. People who have been persecuted for centuries deserve and need a homeland.
Why is it necessary to justify Zionism? When the Jews finally found a home, is it called expansionism or unjust. Deniers believe that Israel is solely for the purpose to annihilate Germany. This statement, though, is ridiculous. The concept of 'Zion' has been around as long as the Jews. When the Jews are finally, after centuries, are presented the chance to a homeland they rejoiced, they did not focus on condemning Germany. There is an incredible paradox of the Holocaust surrounding this issue. The fact is, without the Holocaust, Israel would not have been given to the Jews. In many countries, they felt uneasy about the Jewish tragedy and the fact that not more had been done to save the Jews (44). Guilt is a powerful entity. "It took the destruction of European Jewry to realize Zionist aim. Zionism had not been able to prevent the catastrophe, on the contrary, the state of Israel owed its existence to the disaster" (45).
Stated simply, Zionist philosophy is the desire for a Jewish homeland. Anti-Semitic thought has altered the definition and purpose of the Jewish dream, Israel. Zionism is patriotism, but because of anti-semitism it takes on different negative connotations. In America, it is not prejudicial to be patriotic, but for a Jew, being a Zionist is considered racist. Zionists are accused of having expansionist ideals and of usury. People now believe, with the emergence of Israel, that a 'new type of nazism' has formed. Allegedly, the Jews claim that since, "they have departed from the laws of Abraham and Moses so far as to adhere to the dervish doctrine of, I am better than others; I was made of fire, and they were made of clay" (46).
"Zionism has racist principles, with its devilish schemes which generate chaos all over the world, with its dangerous plans to dominate, with its disregard for the appeals and resolutions of international organizations, and with its beastly octopus which has almost a decisive role in directing the policies of the greater countries in the world can not be viewed as a threat to this region alone, but to the whole world (47).

Conclusion
The Anti-Zionist assertions that the Jews will bring the destruction of the world is no different than that of a holocaust deniers idea of Zionist conspiracies to dominate world power. All have negative affects, and demand the destruction of Israel. Israel, it seems, is the center for all this altercation. Israel breeds fear in the minds of anti-semites because it is the answer to Jewish prayers. It gives the Jews a place, for dwelling and on a broader scale, the Jews become a world power. Deniers believe Israel will be the beginning of Jewish domination.
Deniers have no concrete facts, documents, or testimony to reinforce their claims. They do not give the full scope of information, deleting facts or words when it assists their cause. There is no "hard evidence" that supports their claims, only speculation. Unfortunately, their word has spread even if it is false and accusatory. The word of hate can travel like a wild fire, engulfing many.
The sad truth is that the denier claims are becoming widely accepted and less and less disputed. In the United States alone, there is an incredible rise of hate crimes related to race and religion. Today, one must face the reality of the Holocaust and the disheartening fact that people discredit the victims memory by crying "liar." For the victims and survivors one must keep the truth in print and expose the lies. One must constantly question the scholarly word, and search for the truth in documents, not historical opinion. George Braque once said, "truth exists, only falsehood has to be invented." From the oral testimony of the thousands of survivors and to the confessions of their killers this should be sufficient evidence to create not even a shred of doubt. More importantly though, the undeniable murder of six million Jews must never be forgotten.

Despite repeated denials from Defense Department (US) officials, allegations persist that AIDS is a genetically altered virus, which has been deliberately released to wipe out homosexuals and/or non-whites in the U.S. and reduce populations in third world countries.
At first glance it seems like the epitome of paranoia to accuse the military of conspiring to exterminate citizens of their own country, and even some of their own troops. However, the vast majority of military personnel could be completely unaware of such a plot in their midst, while a relative handful of traitors in key positions could conduct it under cover of classified operations. And the circumstantial evidence is actually quite compelling, that the AIDS virus was artificially engineered, and planted in several different locations at about the same time through vaccination programs, and possibly blood bank contamination.
At a House Appropriations hearing in 1969, the Defense Department's Biological Warfare (BW) division requested funds to develop through gene-splicing a new disease that would both resist and break down a victim's immune system. "Within the next 5 to 10 years it would probably be possible to make a new infective micro-organism which could differ in certain important respects from any known disease-causing organisms. Most important of these is that it might be refractory to the immunological and therapeutic processes upon which we depend to maintain our relative freedom from infectious diseases." (See - A Higher Form of Killing: The Secret Story of Chemical and Biological Warfare by R. Harris and J. Paxman, p 266, Hill and Wang, pubs.) The funds were approved.
AIDS appeared within the requested time frame, and has the exact characteristics specified.
In 1972, the World Health Organization published a similar proposal: "An attempt should be made to ascertain whether viruses can in fact exert selective effects on immune function, e.g., by ...affecting T cell function as opposed to B cell function. The possibility should also be looked into that the immune response to the virus itself may be impaired if the infecting virus damages more or less selectively the cells responding to the viral antigens." (Bulletin of the W.H.O., vol. 47, p 257- 274.) This is a clinical description of the function of the AIDS virus.
The incidence of AIDS infections in Africa coincides exactly with the locations of the W.H.O. smallpox vaccination program in the mid-1970's (London Times, May 11, 1987). Some 14,000 Haitians then on UN secondment to Central Africa were also vaccinated in this campaign. Personnel actually conducting the vaccinations may have been completely unaware that the vaccine was anything other than what they were told.
A striking feature of AIDS is that it's ethno-selective. The rate of infection is twice as high among Blacks, Latinos and Native Americans as among whites, with death coming two to three times as swiftly. And over 80% of the children with AIDS and 90% of infants born with it are among these minorities. "Ethnic weapons" that would strike certain racial groups more heavily than others have been a long-standing U.S. Army BW objective. (Harris and Paxman, p 265)
Under the current U.S. administration biological warfare research spending has increased 500 percent, primarily in the area of genetic engineering of new disease organisms.
The "discovery" of the AIDS virus (HTLV3) was announced by Dr. Robert Gallo at the National Cancer Institute, which is on the grounds of Fort Detrick, Maryland, a primary U.S. Army biological warfare research facility. Actually, the AIDS virus looks and acts much more like a cross between a bovine leukemia virus and a sheep visna (brain-rot) virus, cultured in a human cell culture, than any virus of the HTLV group.
The closest thing in this case to a "smoking test tube" so far is the AIDS virus itself. If it was possible for such a monstrosity to occur naturally it would have done so ages ago and decimated mankind at that time. Some other life form would presently be in control of this planet (assuming that is not already the case).
The Hepatitis B vaccine study in 1978 appears to have been the initial means of planting the infection in New York City. The test protocol specified non-monogamous males only, and homosexuals received a different vaccine from heterosexuals. At least 25-50% of the first reported New York AIDS cases in 1981 had received the Hepatitis B test vaccine in 1978. By 1984, 64% of the vaccine recipients had AIDS, and the figures on the current infection rate for the participants of that study are held by the U.S. Department of Justice, and "unavailable."
The AIDS epidemic emerged full-blown in the three U.S. cities with "organized gay communities" before being reported elsewhere, including Haiti or Africa, so it is epidemiologically impossible for either of those countries to be the origin point for the U.S. infections.
Another indication AIDS had multiple origin points is that the 14-month doubling time of the disease cannot nearly account for the current number of cases if we assume only a small number of initial infections starting in the late 1970s.
Before dismissing the possibility that a U.S. Army BW facility would participate in genocide, bear in mind that hundreds of top Nazis were imported into key positions in the U.S. military- intelligence establishment following WW II. U.S. military priorities were then re-oriented from defeating Nazis to "defeating" communism at any cost, and strengthening military control of economic and foreign policy decisions (See - Project Paperclip by Clarence Lasby, Atheneum 214, NY, and Gehlen: Spy of the Century by E.H. Cookridge, Random House.) There's no proof those Nazis ever gave up their long-term goals of conquest and genocide, just because they changed countries. Fascism was and is an international phenomenon. |

It's not as if this was total reversal of previous U.S. military policy, however. Hitler claimed to have gotten his inspiration for the "final solution" from the extermination of Native Americans in the U.S. For that matter the first example of germ warfare in the U.S. was in 1763 when some of the European colonists gave friendly Indians a number of blankets that had been infected with smallpox, causing many deaths.
One indication of the actual U.S. military priorities regarding BW was the importation of the entire Japanese germ warfare unit (#731) following WW II. These people killed over 3000 POWs, including many Americans, in a variety of grisly experiments, yet they were granted complete amnesty and given American military positions in exchange for sharing their research findings with their U.S. Army counterparts.
Consider also the callous attitude displayed by top military officials toward veterans suffering from the after-effects of exposure to Agent Orange and radiation from nuclear weapons tests.
In fact, since the end of WW II over 200 experimental BW tests have been conducted on civilians and military personnel in the U.S. One example was the test spraying from Sept. 20-26, 1950 of bacillus globigi and syraceus maracezens over 117 square miles of the San Francisco area, causing pneumonia-like infections in many of the residents. The family of one elderly man who died in the test sued the government, but lost. To this day, syraceus is a leading cause of death among the elderly in the San Francisco area. Another case was the joint Army-CIA BW test in 1955, still classified, in which an undisclosed bacteria was released in the Tampa Bay region of Florida, causing a dramatic increase in whooping cough infections, including twelve deaths. A third example was the July 7-10, 1966 release of bacteria throughout the New York subway system, conducted by the U.S. Army's Special Operations Division. Due to the vast number of people exposed it would virtually impossible to identify, let alone prove, and specific health problems resulting directly from this test.
Despite the loyalty of the vast majority of U.S. military personnel toward their country, there are clearly some military officials who have very different intentions, and they occupy high enough positions to impose their priorities on military programs and get away with it, so far.
The first detailed charges regarding AIDS as a BW weapon were published in the Patriot newspaper in New Delhi, India, on July 4, 1984. It is hard to say where the investigations of this story in the Indian press might have led, if they had not been sidetracked by two major domestic disasters shortly thereafter: the assassination of Indira Gandhi on Oct. 31 and the Bhopal Union Carbide plant "accident" that killed several thousand and injured over 200,000 on Dec. 3.
The Soviet press picked up the story on October 1985, making it easy for U.S. Defense Department spokesmen to dismiss the charges as "Soviet propaganda," even though many other countries carried it. The Soviets recently retracted the charges, in the new spirit of US-USSR cooperation.
A variation on the AIDS-BW theory that is popular in far-right publications is that AIDS was developed in Soviet laboratories for use against the U.S. An obvious problem with this idea is that the victims of choice of a Soviet BW attack would be anti- communists, not minorities or homosexuals, who are generally more left-wing. The people at greatest risk from AIDS in the U.S. are in fact the very elements most disliked by arch-conservatives. In any case, it is simplistic to assume that one country, U.S. or USSR, is conducting this campaign against one another. Although concealed in apparent conflicts between nations, the real culprits are multi-national fascists on both "sides" still bent on massive population reductions and global domination.
Other motives include the old "divide and conquer" principle; AIDS is inspiring fear and mistrust between people, and scaring them away from relating to each other at the basic level of sexuality. It is acting as a barrier to the attempted cultural resurgence toward peace, love and cooperation. Of high school students surveyed last year as to which decade they'd most like to have grown up in, 90% chose the 60's. The last thing pro-war fascists want is another "love generation," especially if it is more politically sophisticated than the last one.
Apparently, homosexuals were an initial target in the U.S. because their sexual practices would help in the rapid spread of the disease, and because it was correctly assumed that very few non-homosexual citizens would pay much attention during the early years of the epidemic. Also, the stigma of a "homosexual disease" would interfere with rational analysis and discussion of AIDS. Bear in mind that homosexuals were among the first to be exterminated in Nazi Germany, before Jews or other minorities, so fewer citizens would object.
The details of precisely how the AIDS virus was synthesized, mass cultured, and spread by incorporating into vaccination programs are available but fairly intricate. It is beyond the scope of this report to present a crash course in virology, epidemiology, genetic engineering, and the military strategies of international fascism. Readers are encouraged to obtain and study the references cited here, and demand a full inquiry. Those officials who are actually involved in the coverup will reveal it by their inaction when pressed to investigate.
Evil is hard to confront, especially on the preposterous scale we have here. If you acknowledge the presence of those who think their only hope for survival is to kill off two thirds of all the other kinds, and their ability to manage it, you then pretty much have to do something about it.

Evangelicals and Israel: Theological Roots of a Political Alliance

When Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu visited Washington this past January, his initial meeting was not with President Clinton but with Jerry Falwell and more than 1,000 fundamentalist Christians. The crowd saluted the prime minister as "the Ronald Reagan of Israel," and Falwell pledged to contact more than 200,000 evangelical pastors, asking them to "tell President Clinton to refrain from putting pressure on Israel" to comply with the Oslo accords.
The meeting between Netanyahu and Falwell illustrates a remarkable political and theological convergence. The link between Israelis Likud government and the U.S. Religious Right was established by Natanyahu's mentor, Menachem Begin, during the Carter and Reagan administrations. However, the roots of evangelical support for Israel lie in the long tradition of Christian thinking about the millennium.
In Luke's account of the ascension, the disciples ask Jesus, "Lord, is this the time when you will restore the Kingdom to Israel?" The question illustrates the early church's fascination with Israel and its prophetic role at the end of history--a fascination that continues to this day. Reflections on the end times draw on the Book of Daniel, Zechariah 9-14, Ezekiel 38-39 and various apocryphal books, as well as Matthew 24, the early Pauline letters (1 Thess. 4:16-17; 5:1-11) and the Book of Revelation.
An early version of Christian eschatology, called "historic premillennialism," held that Jesus would return and establish his millennial kingdom after the world had been evangelized. However, by the 18th century another model of eschatology emerged in England that emphasized the role of a reconstituted Israel in the end times. This eschatology was rooted in three streams of British Christianity: the piety of English Puritanism; the view that Britain was the "new Israel," a theme that dates back at least to the seventh century and the Venerable Bede; and a hermeneutic that interpreted biblical prophetic texts as having a literal, future fulfillment. Among the forerunners of this movement was Sir Henry Finch, a prominent lawyer and member of Parliament. In 1621, Finch wrote a treatise in which he called upon the British people and its government to support Jewish settlement in Palestine in order to fulfill biblical prophecy.
As the year 1800 approached, several premillennial theologies emerged as a result of the insecurity surrounding the American and French revolutions. Among them were various utopian movements and the Millerites (a group that later became Seventh-day Adventists). During this period John Nelson Darby (1800-82), a renegade Anglican priest from Ireland, popularized and systematized eschatological themes while simultaneously developing a new school of thought which has been called "futurist premillennialism."
During 60 years of unceasing travel and preaching across the European continent and North America, Darby converted a generation of evangelical clergy and laity to his views. Darby held that biblical prophecies and much of scripture must be interpreted according to a literal and predictive hermeneutic. He believed that the true church will be removed from history through an event called the "rapture" (I Thess. 4:16-17; 5:1-11), and the nation Israel will be restored as God's primary instrument in history.
According to Darby, Christians must interpret history in light of seven epochs or "dispensations," each of which reflects a particular manner in which God deals with humanity. For example, we currently live under the dispensation of "Grace," whereby people are judged according to their personal relationship with Jesus Christ. This hermeneutical method is called dispensationalism.
According to the dispensational model, a time of turmoil lies ahead, but believers will be "raptured" away before it begins. This period of tribulation will culminate in the final battle at Armageddon, a valley northwest of Jerusalem. As evangelical historian Timothy Weber points out, for premillennialists "the historical process is a never-ending battle between good and evil, whose course God has already conceded to the Devil.. . . History's only hope lies in its own destruction."
Through Darby's influence, premillennial dispensationalism became a dominant method of biblical interpretation and influenced a generation of evangelical leaders, including Dwight L. Moody. Perhaps the most influential instrument of dispensational thinking was the Scofield Bible (1909) which included a commentary that interpreted prophetic texts according to a premillennial hermeneutic. Another early Darby disciple, William E. Blackstone, brought dispensationalism to millions of Americans through his best seller Jesus Is Coming (1882). Blackstone organized the first Zionist lobbying effort in the U.S. in 1891 when he enlisted J. P. Morgan, John D. Rockefeller, Charles B. Scribner and other financiers to underwrite a massive newspaper campaign requesting President Benjamin Harrison to support the establishment of a Jewish state in Palestine.
Similar efforts were under way in England, led by the social reformer Lord Shaftesbury, who, like Blackstone, was so taken with Darby's eschatology that he translated it into a political agenda. These seeds of the Christian Zionist movement preceded Jewish Zionism by several years. Loni Shaftesbury is also credited with coining an early version of the slogan adopted by Jewish Zionist fathers Max Nordau and Theodor Herzl: "A land of no people for a people with no land." Both Lord Arthur Balfour, author of the famous 1917 Balfour Declaration, and Prime Minister David Lloyd George, the two most powerful men in British foreign policy at the close of World War I, were raised in dispensationalist churches and were publicly committed to the Zionist agenda for "biblical" and colonialist reasons.
The establishment of Israel in 1948 gave dispensationalism new momentum. The restoration of a Jewish nation was taken as a sign that the clock of biblical prophecy was ticking and we were rapidly approaching the final events leading to the return of Jesus. During the cold war, dispensationalists readily interpreted the Soviet Union and its allies as the Antichrist. Passages such as Ezekiel 38-39 were read as predictions of an impending Soviet attack on Israel. A ten-member confederation--often interpreted as the European Union--was expected to join the Soviet Union in this attack.
When Israel captured Jerusalem in the 1967 war; dispensationalists were certain that the end was near. L. Nelson Bell, Billy Graham's father-in-law and editor of Christianity Today, wrote in July 1967: "That for the first time in more than 2,000 years Jerusalem is now completely in the hands of the Jews gives the student of the Bible a thrill and a renewed faith in the accuracy and validity of the Bible."
By the early 1970s numerous books, films and television specials publicized the premillennial dispensationalist perspective. Hal Lindsay made a virtual industry out of his book The Late Great Planet Earth: it sold more than 25 million copies and led to two films, as well as a consulting business with a clientele that has included several members of Congress, the Pentagon, and Ronald Reagan.
In the mid 1970s at least five trends converged that accelerated the rise of Christian Zionism. First, evangelical and charismatic movements became the fastest-growing branch of North American Christianity. Mainline Protestant denominations and the Roman Catholic Church were declining both in budgets and attendance.
The election of Jimmy Carter; a Southern Baptist Sunday school teacher; to the presidency in 1976 increased the visibility and legitimacy of the once-marginalized evangelical movement. Time magazine declared 1976 "the year of the evangelical." Still, the mainstream media seemed confused by the various traditions and polarities within the complex evangelical movement, failing to distinguish between the diverse political and theological voices clamoring to claim the term "evangelical" for their particular viewpoint. |

Israel's occupation of Arab lands after 1967 created tension between many Jewish organizations and the mainline Protestant, Eastern Orthodox and Catholic communities. Many Jewish organizations, particularly lobbying groups such as the American Israel Political Affairs Committee (AIPAC), turned to the growing evangelical community for support. As Rabbi Marc Tanenbaum of the American Jewish Committee stated, "The evangelical community is the largest and fastest-growing bloc of pro-Jewish sentiment in this country." AIPAC and the Anti-Defamation League (ADL) added staff to focus on relationships with evangelicals and fundamentalists. The Israeli ministry of tourism eyed evangelicals as a major new market for Holy Land tours and thus a source of revenue.
The fourth factor that stimulated the emerging evangelical Christian Zionist movement's political agenda was the election of Menachem Begin as Israel's prime minister in May 1977. Prior to Begin's election, Israeli politics had been dominated by the secular Labor Party. Begin's Likud Party was dominated by hard-line military figures such as Raphael Eitan and Ariel Sharon, and supported by the increasingly powerful settler movement and by small Orthodox religious parties. Likud constituencies used the biblical names "Judea and Samaria" for the West Bank and employed a religious argument to justify Israel's confiscation of Arab land for settlements: since God gave the land exclusively to Jews, they have a divine right to settle anywhere in Eretz Israel. Evangelicals welcomed the Likud leaders and endorsed their political and religious agendas.
The final development that accelerated the alliance between Likud and the Religious Right was Carter's March 1977 statement that he supported Palestinian human rights, including the "right to a homeland." Likud, when it came to power just two months later; immediately reached out to Christian evangelicals. Likud's strategy was simple: split evangelical and fundamentalist Christians from Carter's political base and rally support among conservative Christians for Israel's opposition to the United Nations' proposed Middle East Peace Conference.
Within weeks, full-page advertisements appeared in major U.S. newspapers stating, "The time has come for evangelical Christians to affirm their belief in biblical prophecy and Israel's divine right to the land." Targeting Soviet involvement in the UN conference, the ad went on to say: "We affirm as evangelicals our belief in the promised land to the Jewish people . . . . We would view with grave concern any effort to carve out of the Jewish homeland another nation or political entity."
The ad was financed and coordinated by Jerusalem's Institute for Holy Land Studies, an evangelical organization with a Christian Zionist orientation. Several leading dispensationalists signed the ad, including Kenneth Kantzer of Christianity Today and Trinity Evangelical Divinity School, singer Pat Boone, and dispensationalist theologian and Dallas Theological Seminary president John Walvoord.
The advertising campaign was one of the first public signs of a Likud-evangelical alliance. A former employee of the American Jewish Committee, Jerry Strober, who had coordinated the campaign, made the political connection in a statement to Newsweek: "[The evangelicals] are Carter's constituency and he [had] better listen to them... The real source of strength the Jews have in this country is from the evangelicals."
At times the new alliance was uncomfortable for Jewish leaders. On one such occasion, the president of the Southern Baptist Convention, Bailey Smith, stated that "God does not hear the prayers of the Jews." Within weeks, the AIC took Smith on a trip to Israel and corrected his views. While Christian Zionists and Jewish organizations agree on many points, the Christian Right's enthusiasm for evangelizing Jews remains an unresolved point of tension.
Evangelicals, major Jewish organizations and the pro-Israel lobby supported Ronald Reagan in the 1980 election. Carter's loss of the evangelical vote played a significant role in his defeat. Likud policy was aggressively represented by AIPAC both on Capitol Hill and within the Reagan administration. For example, when Israel decided to invade Lebanon in the spring of 1982, Begin sent Ariel Sharon, his defense minister, to Washington to enlist the Reagan administration's support. By late May, Sharon was reportedly given the green light by Secretary of State Alexander Haig. Within days of the June invasion, full-page ads appeared in leading newspapers requesting evangelical support for the invasion.
Begin developed a unique relationship with Reagan and many fundamentalist leaders, especially Jerry Falwell. Falwell and his Moral Majority had long supported Israel. In 1979, Grace Halsell reports, Israel gave Falwell a Lear jet and in 1981 gave him the prestigious Jabotinsky Award during an elaborate dinner ceremony in New York. When Israel bombed Iraq's nuclear plant in 1981, Begin called Falwell before he called Reagan. He requested that Falwell "explain to the Christian public the reasons for the bombing."
In March 1985, while speaking to the conservative Rabbinical Assembly in Miami, FaIwell pledged to "mobilize 70 million conservative Christians for Israel and against anti-Semitism." He also takes credit for converting Senator Jesse Helms (R., N.C.) into one of Israel's staunchest allies. Helms soon became chair of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee.
The Reagan administration regularly conducted briefings and seminars for its Christian Right supporters, briefings in which the pro-Likud lobby (Americans for a Safe Israel and AIPAC) participated. Among the approximately 150 Christian fundamentalist leaders invited to each event were Hal Lindsay, Jimmy Swaggart, Jim and Tammy Bakker; Pat Robertson and Tim and Bev LeHaye.
Reagan himself was a committed Christian Zionist. His support for Israel derived from both strategic political concerns and a vague dispensationalist perspective. He told Tom Dine, AIPAC's executive director; "I turn back to your ancient prophets in the Old Testament and the signs foretelling Armageddon, and I find myself wondering if we re the generation that is going to see that come about." The remark was published by the Jerusalem Post and widely distributed by the Associated Press.
Netanyahu's 1996 defeat of Shimon Peres brought Likud back to power. During his years as Israel's representative at the UN, Netanyahu spoke regularly on the Christian Bight's "Prayer Breakfast for Israel" circuit and similar venues. Within a few months of his election, in conjunction with the Israeli ministry on tourism, he convened the Israel Christian Advocacy Council. Seventeen American evangelical and fundamentalist leaders were flown to Israel for a tour of the Holy Land and a conference at which they pledged support for what was essentially a Likud agenda. Included in the delegation were Don Argue, president of the National Association of Evangelicals; Brandt Gustavson, president of the National Religious Broadcasters (an organization that oversees approximately 90 percent of Christian radio and television broadcasting in North America); and Donald Wildmon, president of the American Family Association. The evangelical leaders signed a pledge expressing the hope that "America never; never desert Israel." |

Several members of the Advisory Council backed the pro-Israel advertisement in the April 10, 1997, New York Times. Titled "Christians Call for a United Jerusalem," the ad may have been a direct response to a December 1996 Times ad sponsored by Churches for Middle East Peace, calling for a "Shared Jerusalem."
The Christian Zionist ad claimed that its signatories reach more than 100,000 Christians weekly and called for evangelicals to support the Likud position on Jewish sovereignty over Jerusalem. Using several familiar dispensationalist themes, the ad claimed: "Jerusalem has been the spiritual and political capital of only the Jewish people for 3,000 years." Citing Genesis 12:17, Leviticus 26:44-45 and Deuteronomy 7:7-8, it spoke of Israel's biblical claim to the land. The ad was signed by Pat Robertson of the Christian Broadcasting Network; Ralph Reed, then director of the Christian Coalition; Ed McAteer of the Religious Roundtable; and Falwell, among others. Voicing one of Netanyahu's themes, the ad asked that Israel "not be pressured to concede on issues of Jerusalem in the final status negotiations with the Palestinians."
Likud also turned to evangelical and fundamentalist Christians to offset the decline in contributions for Israel from the American Jewish community. In response to the increasing power of the Orthodox parties in Netanyahu's government and the second-class status these parties assigned to non-Orthodox Jews, Reformed and Conservative Jewish communities cut back their usual generous contributions to the Jewish National Fund and other agencies in the U.S. that support Israel. But the International Fellowship of Christians and Jews, led by Rabbi Yechiel Eckstein of Chicago, raised more than $5 million for the United Jewish Appeal, almost all of it from evangelicals and fundamentalists.
In a separate initiative, John Hagee, pastor of the Cornerstone Church in San Antonio, Texas, and a signer of the Christians for a United Jerusalem Statement, announced in February of this year that his church was giving more than $1 million to Israel. He claimed that the money would be used to help resettle Jews from the former Soviet Union in the West Bank and Jerusalem. "We feel like the coming of Soviet Jews to Israel is a fulfillment of biblical prophecy," Hagee stated. When asked if he realized that his support of Israel's Likud policies was at cross-purposes with U.S. government policy and possibly illegal, Hagee retorted: "I am a Bible scholar and a theologian and from my perspective, the law of God transcends the law of the United States government and the U.S. State Department."
While the U.S. and European governments in 1997 were pressing Netanyahu to negotiate with the Palestinians, the prime minister's public relations specialists developed another strategy involving the cooperation of Christian Zionist organizations in Jerusalem. The initial phase of this strategy was launched in an October 22, 1997, report on Israeli Radio (Kol Israel) News, a report claiming that the Palestinian National Authority (PA) was persecuting Christians.
Two days later the Jerusalem Post published an article charging that, according to a new Israeli government report, "the few Christians remaining in PA-controlled areas are subjected to brutal and relentless persecution." The report alleged that "'Christian cemeteries have been destroyed, monasteries have had their telephone lines cut, and there have been break-ins to convents.'" Moreover; the Palestinian Authority "has taken control of the churches and is pressuring Christian leaders to serve as mouthpieces for Yasser Arafat and opponents of Israel"
A month later; Congressman J. C. Watts (R., Okla.) reiterated these charges in the Washington Times, blaming Arafat and the PA for the Christian exodus from the Holy Land and calling into question the $307 million in grants the U.S. has given the PA.
Palestinian Christian leaders were quick to respond. Said Bethlehem mayor Hanna Nasser, a Christian: "Our churches have complete freedom, and I've never heard that they've been under pressure." Mitri Raheb, pastor of Bethlehem's Lutheran church, challenged the Israeli report as pure propaganda. He noted that while Bethlehem was under Israeli occupation, his house had been robbed and his car stolen twice; but "there have been no robberies since the Palestinian Authority has taken over. On the contrary, there is a greater sense of security now than there was under occupation."
Last May, Evangelicals for Middle East Understanding and Open Doors International sent a 14-member team to the Holy Land to investigate the allegations of persecution. The delegation interviewed more than 60 spokespersons in Israel and the Palestinian territories, including a number of Christian leaders; Uri Mor, director of the Israeli Ministry of Religious Affairs in the Department of Christian Communities; and several Christian Zionist leaders.
The delegation concluded that though there were isolated incidents of discrimination and increased tension between Christian and Muslim communities in certain areas, there were no cases that could be characterized as persecution in the territories under the Palestinian Authority. Four converts from Islam to Christianity had experienced pressure from their families and communities. One or two who had criminal backgrounds had been pressured by the PA. But in neither case could the context and reasons for the pressure be construed as persecution. Furthermore, though some Christian Palestinians are concerned that if Islamic law (Shari'a) becomes the law of the Palestinian areas, the religious freedom of Christians maybe restricted in the future, no evidence of this development is present.
The investigative team found "disturbing indications of political motivations behind [the] recent publicity about Christian persecution." The team learned that a Christian Zionist group, the International Christian Embassy--Jerusalem, had cooperated with the office of David Bar-llan, Netanyahu's chief spokesman, in exaggerating accounts of Christian persecution and circulating them to the international press. A staff member of the U. S. consulate in Jerusalem interviewed Mor; the Israeli religious affairs official, who stated that the report was intended to be an internal document, but Bar-llan's office leaked it to the Christian and secular media.
Asked why the prime minister's office would do such a thing, Mor noted that Bar-llan uses such information as his "bread and butter" in the Israeli propaganda war against the PA. Clearly, there was no attempt by either the Israeli government or the Christian Embassy to note the criminal status of some claiming to be persecuted, or to distinguish between persecution and understandable pressure from families or communities opposing a member's conversion to another faith.
It is true that Palestinian Christians are leaving the Holy Land. But it is not because of Muslim persecution. They are leaving because of the brutality of Israeli occupation and because Israel's resistance to negotiating a just peace with the Palestinians makes them despair about the future.
At this juncture, it appears that the hardline Likud position has the backing of both houses of Congress, the major Jewish lobbies, and the Christian Right. President Clinton and those who advocate the Israeli Labor Party peace formula, or the Oslo Accords, have little leverage with Likud. Palestinian Christians and their supporters fear that the Christian Right's alliance with Likud may in the end serve as a self-fulfilling prophecy, heightening tensions in the region and leading to a new round of conflict in the Holy Land, which the Christian Zionists will readily interpret as "the final battle."

Robert H. Hemphill of the Atlanta Federal Reserve Bank Jan. 24, 1939 stated: “We are completely dependant on the commercial banks [Federal Reserve System]. Someone has to borrow every dollar we have in circulation, cash or credit. If the banks created ample synthetic (fiat) money, we are prosperous. If not, we starve.”
British Major General J.F.C. Fuller 1941 stated: “The government of the Western nations, whether monarchial or republican, had passed into the invisible hands of a plutocracy, international in power and grasp. It was … this semi-occult power which… pushed the mass of the American people into the cauldron of World War I.”
British PM Winston Churchill stated: “Men occasionally stumble over truth, most of them pick themselves up and hurry off as if nothing had happened.”
President Kennedy Nov. 12, 1963 said: "The high office of the President has been used to foment a plot to destroy the American's freedom and before I leave office, I must inform the citizen of this plight."
