MY PERSONAL FINANCE PHILOSHOPHY
F. Invest minimum 5% of your monthly income in education <--Lupa dari mana I dapat.
Do you know what type of investment that gives you the highest return with no risk at all?
Bond? No
Propert? No
Unit Trust? No
Stock Market? No

Then what it is??? There is one type of investment that gives you much higher annual return than of savings (Maybank - 0.2%), fixed deposit (Maybank - 3%), ASB (7% - 8%), and the stock market (probably 10%-30%). It is the investment in education. You see, if you have RM10k and then bluntly invest it in the stock market without having any or adequate knowledge, you should consider yourself lucky if you could at least preserve your capital - RM10k. But if you invest that amount of money in education, you'll not only able to preserve your capital but also make more and more money.

So go on and invest in your education. There are few ways to do so. Some people attend seminar, some people buy books and some people even further their study. Either way, you are not going to lose. But personally I opt for buying books because it is the most cost effective. Exchanging books among your friends helps to cut cost too!

I lupa dari mana I dapat that 5% figure tapi I use it as my rule of thumb lah.....

Apa pendapat you all???:solute:

Good for all of you. Nampaknya En. Azizi Ali kena bagi Ahmad & I komisenlah sebab dapat tarik 3 orang suruh beli buku dia. :lol Tapi buku yg I mention tu mmg bagus and worth every penny.

Seminar dia mahal sikit, ada dalam RM2500 masa I attend preview dia tahun lepas. Gaji I sebulan pun tak cukup tu wooooo...

baguslah adik-adik ni (betul ke adik???) :hmm:
....memuda lagi dah menyimpan. :bodek:

Ahmad & MACD - thank you. your insights are eye opener. Wish I had those advise when I was young and single. Keep up!

My experience lak,

starting gaji RM2100 (back in 1995 - rasanya tinggi kot?)

1996 - enjoy je, then beli apartment sebab rasa rugi menyewa bayar RM500 sebulan, dok sorang je. Nasib baik parents support bayar downpayment utk apartment, I just pay monthly installment.

1997 - sambung belajar part-time, ambik Masters.

1998 - enjoy lagi...

1999 - habis belajar. Gaji naik 10% sebab ada masters. Beli kereta. Downpayment pun parents bayar. I bayar monthly installment je.

2000 - got married. Perbelanjaan - takde beza. I still maintain bayar rumah & kereta sendiri. Husband cuma tanggung basic je - sewa rumah, makan minum sebab dia kena support family dia jugak.

2001 - anak sorang. Perbelanjaan bertambah utk pampers & susu anak. Start savings utk anak - masuk Tabung Haji RM50 sebulan.

2004 - anak tambah sorang lagi. Perbelanjaan makin bertambah utk anak-anak.

So, kesimpulannya - utk adik-adik yg masih single tu, teruskan menyimpan. You never know, nanti you kawin dengan sapa. Kalau dapat jutawan & tanggung semua alhamdulillah. Kalau jodoh dengan orang kebanyakan & kena tolong perbelanjaan family - YOU NEED THE SAVINGS. - that's why simpan masa bujang! Jodoh tetap jodoh, tapi kalau jodoh tak berpanjangan, ada anak pulak tu - time ni semua perlu $$$$$.

Oklah. panjang dah. next time sambung lagi. Saje nak share experience & bagi semangat untuk teruskan simpan duit!

2100 in 1995? Wow you must be really lucky. My starting salary is not that much even in the new millennium.

Furthermore, your parents were willing to pay for your house and car downpayments.

I always dream to have and live in my own apartment. Thats why I have to save hard...

calla start keje tahun 2001, masa tuh gaji tak sampai pun rm2k. pertengahan tahun 2002 beli keter, bayar monthly rm442. akhir tahun 2002 beli apartment lak harga rm150k, nasib baik dpt 100% bank loan. saving cuba masukkan rm500 tetiap bulan sampai awal 2004. installment rumah dah naik, dia ikut phase, masa mula2x dulu bayar sikit jer, makin naik rumah makin banyaklah kene bayar. now rumah dah 90% siap and kene bayar rm800++ monthly untuk rumah. so saving dah takde dah sbb nya lepas tolak semua bill yg patut mcm astro, phone, insurance etc cuma tinggal abt rm700 jer utk leisure. kalau nak save takut nnt takleh nak shopping or gi makan2x. calla plan lepas rumah siap dan sewakan kat orang, baru nak start balik saving especially nak kawen tahun depan. calla nak cuba save rm1k per month lepas rumah siap nnt. nie perancangan utk kawen dan jugak selepas kawen .

wah...MOD telah bermurah hati - tambah credit! tenkiu-tenkiu....:pompom:

calla - hmmm..dah ada kereta & rumah...itu kira asset jugak. Macam saya dulu - 1st beli rumah, then beli kereta, lepas tu baru kawin.

Tapikan just make sure your investment ni (I notice your loan is 100%), tak jadi liability pulak nanti!

I have yet to continue relating my experience. The last post was the general overview - to show how important is savings (in whatever forms).

tunggu....  :bgrin:

That's your wish? That's my wish too...

But know what, benda ni tak ada sapa yang ajar kita, dan untuk kebanyakkan kita, kita akan tahu benda ni bila umur kita dah banyak. Cikgu tak ajar kita, mak bapak tak ajar kita. Even finance school tak ajar kita these financial survival technique. So apa yang kita boleh buat hanyalah, "Wish I know that earlier..."

We cannot change the past, but we can absolutely change the future...

Teach your children these financial survival technique... Make them grow with financial knowledge in mind, supaya diorang boleh jadi milliomaire walaupun hanya bekerja sebagai penjual mee goreng kat pasar malam....

By that time, they don't have to wish anymore. They will tell everyone, "I knew those wonderful financial wisdom. My parent taught me those since I were a little kid..."

Itulah, actually calla risau jugak sbb amik 100% loan dulu. sbb tuh calla plan nak refinance or sewa rumah tuh. in 10 yrs time kalau boleh nak jual, depend on property value lah. calla kira balik, amik loan 100% for 30 yrs, kalau betul2x bayar sampai 30 yrs, i hv paid the bank rm403k utk rumah yg calla beli pada harga rm150k
: banyakkan ???? sbb tuh kalau boleh nak cepat habiskan bayar (which they allow) or sell at the right time, that way boleh dpt untung sket utk downpayment rumah yg lebih besar.

Nampaknya coverage not bad.... tapi cuba teena tanya member teena tu, kalau teena natural death, disable, accident death, critical ilness berapa yg teena akan dapat.... bukan apa, sbb term yg digunakan bukan semua sama, jadi I tak berapa paham kalau yg prudential punyer..... but, basically dia akan cover perkara perkara di atas tu..... coverage utk bilik pun kira ok... and then how about surgery punyer kos.....

Walaupun teena masih single lagi, tapi family teena byk juga bergantung kat teena, so memang teena patut amik life insurans.... and please also make sure critical ilness coverage jugak ok(50k-100k).....

Yang 70 dpt coverage 200k tu mcm ni..... you amik basic dia term.... then tambah rider yg term jugak..... dulu I dpt price tu without H&S... maybe you kena tambah 20-30 lagi utk dpt H&S tu..... Dulu I tanya maybank... tapi seelok eloknya you pegi tanya company insurans instead of bank.....
