hm..mmg sedih..ntah sebab ape..is it becoz of d skills n techniques? nk kata faktor ketinggian, its not reasonable sgt sebab players kita tinggi2 jugak..yes,height is important but i think its not d main factor. for example, natalie medhurst..tak la tinggi sgt compared to her teammates n her opponents..but still die leh shoot ngan jayanya walopon de tgn2 panjang her defenders..

kannn. faktor ketinggian x penting for attackers. kalo defender tu mgkn ya. medhurst rendah, mcmahon pn x berapa tggi kot, pamela cookey pn rendah, even leah shoard GA fever tggi hanya 168cm je. tp bleh je main di celah2 casey william walaupn smtime ssh jgk nk dpt bola.

player malaysia kurang dr segi speed, ball pass n shooting accuracy. esp aruna. dia bnyk try long range shoot tp fail.

100% agreed! players kita mmg kureng dr segi speed, passing n shooting accuracy..paling2 ketara rasanya passing..kalo tgk other international teams nya ball pass, mmg dasat..they really explore their passing n their team awareness mmg tiptop..sgt alert n effective..

by d way, sgt2 suka ball pass AUS around+in D area...medhurst tu menyelit2 je,tetiba dpt bola..hahahaha...

kann, every shooter from nz n aust ade teknik n movement tersendiri, tp i plg adore irene vandyk . i summarize sket k

irene vandyk satu2 nya shooter yg apply sume techniques dlm D. skillfull n energetic.
1)kelebihan irene adalah technique blocking from behind yg kukuh, so that feeders can pass lob ball to her efficiently.
2) side dodge yg effficient.
3) half turn n roll techniques, so far i tgk hanya irene yg bleh buat ni dgn cntik,
4) somtime she did forward n get the ball in front defender.
5) high jump, i love cara irene jump with correct timing,
6) shooting under post, to secure the ball n for better rebound, 85% of her shots were under the post, which is great because other shooters are struggling to get the ball nearer to the post.
7) the only shooter who manage to maintain 90+% of shooting accuracy.
8) sgt alert dgn bola2 tajam dr feeders, this happen bile defender di hadapan n membelakangi bola.
9) she is high confident, always smile, patient n dynamic
10) she is good offensive rebounder, advantage ketinggian n high jump dia
11) movement irene sgt terkawal dlm D, so that x kelam kabut dlm D.
12) irene sentiasa ask for the ball bile dia betol2 ready, tp sometime feeders x yakin nk pass the ball to her, n sometime overlook her.
13) she is the one who can create good space for her to receive the ball
14) permainan dia kt baseline really awesome. jarang bola melencong out kalo irene mtk kt baseline

Coach Silver Ferns (NZ): Ruth Aiken, konfem dah stepped down...

SILVER SUNSET: Ruth Aitken will coach the Silver Ferns for the final time on home soil against England in Invercargill tonight.

Silver Ferns coach Ruth Aitken will leave behind a lasting legacy when she steps down this month after 10 years in the job.

BRENDON EGAN spoke to New Zealand's most capped netball coach on the eve of her final game in charge on home soil.

Ruth Aitken has never been one to show much emotion on the sideline but the outgoing Silver Ferns coach admits she won't be surprised if she sheds a tear when the fulltime whistle sounds  in tonight's game against England.

Aitken, who has been in charge of the Silver Ferns since 2001 and is the world's most capped netball coach, will guide New Zealand for the final time on home soil, at Invercargill's ILT Velodrome.

She will step down from the head coach's role after her team's three-game away series against Australia this month, to take up a new position with Netball New Zealand as coaching director.

Aitken has carved out a fine record in her decade-long stint with the Silver Ferns – claiming two Commonwealth Games gold medal wins and helping New Zealand break a 16-year world championship drought when they won the 2003 title in Jamaica.

The 55-year-old said the Silver Ferns had been a massive part of her life during the past 10 years and admitted she was feeling a mixture of emotions leading into her final game in New Zealand.

"I think there will be mixed feelings. There will be a sense of loss with this group. They've been very important to me for a long time ...

"I feel very honoured to have been able to be in this role for such a long and to spend time with such great people. The Silver Ferns are an amazing group and it will be hard to say goodbye to them."

Aitken leaves behind a lasting legacy and will be remembered as arguably the Silver Ferns' finest- ever coach.

Two of the biggest success stories of Aitken's coaching reign have been Casey Williams and Laura Langman, who have flourished under her tutelage and developed into the best in the world in their respective positions.

Aitken had the insight to select Langman in the Silver Ferns squad while she was still a student at Hamilton's Hillcrest High School, and Langman said she owed a great deal to her.

"She had faith in me when I was still at school, putting me in the squad. She really ensured we were fostered really well. I'm hugely thankful to the opportunities Ruth has given me personally. She's an absolute inspiration."

Langman said Aitken's passion and enthusiasm for the job, as well as her outstanding ability to interact with players and take other viewpoints on board, set her apart from other coaches.

"She's had an absolutely stellar career. She's a real inspiration to any netball fanatic, player, or up-and-comer."

Fellow Silver Fern Joline Henry has had a long involvement with the veteran coach dating back to 2001 when she made her Coca-Cola Cup debut for a Waikato-Bay of Plenty Magic side that Aitken was coaching.

Henry has made massive strides at international level in recent years and the 65-cap defender credited Aitken for having a profound influence on her improvement as a top-level netballer.

"Her biggest strength is her ability to pull lots of different strengths from other people and form a team and get the very best bits out of people. Not many people have that strength," Henry said.

"She's able to listen to people and take on their feedback which certainly for coaches, is rare in this day and age."

Aitken said she was proud of what she had accomplished during her tenure as Silver Ferns coach, but confessed she was still haunted by this year's agonising one-goal overtime loss to Australia at the world championships in Singapore.

"It's great to have a world championship and two Commonwealth Games golds but obviously ,the ones that get away from you sit with you for a long time. We had the huge disappointment of this year's world championships. I'm not disappointed in the players, they gave it their all. It just wasn't quite our night."

Aitken, who holds a 86-win, 25-loss record in her 111 games as head coach of the Silver Ferns, believed the national team was in an extremely healthy position with a strong mixture of youth and experience in their ranks.

One of the biggest joys of her job had been seeing players grow on and off the court, and Aitken said it would be exciting to watch the rise of Silver Ferns debutants Kayla Cullen and Sulu Tone-Fitzpatrick during the next couple of years.

"It's wonderful to see them coming in at the young end and see them grow and blossom into strong leaders.

"It will be really interesting to the start of this new group coming in. I feel really pleased, I will have had that link with them. We've got some great youth coming through."

She acknowledged now was the right time to be moving on and was looking forward to staying involved with Netball New Zealand as a coaching director and working with the new wave of coaching talent in the country.

"I'm pleased to be taking a step back instead of being cast adrift," she said with a laugh.

"I'm very lucky Netball New Zealand has seen fit to give me another role. It's going to be really exciting. I'm looking at growing our high-performance coaches, so we've got more Silver Fern coaches in the making."

If they can soak up even a small fraction of Aitken's wisdom, the future of New Zealand netball looks very rosy indeed.brendon.
