Nicole Gets Some Help from a Hamburger

Just weeks after checking into rehab for not having an eating disorder, Nicole is starting to look like she is making more of an effort. However, according to the blind item on Page Six today Nicole wasn't in rehab at all - she was reversing a gastric bypass surgery she had that made her too skinny. We sure hope no doctor would have been that stupid to begin with - she certainly did not need that procedure. Now she is chowing down at McDonalds. I'm not sure that's the best route to go about gaining weight, but if a hamburger is what helps Nicole then we're all for it.

NICOLE RICHIE is back at her regular table in The Ivy - after going into rehab to gain weight. The petite star checked into a clinic three weeks ago in a bid to flesh out her skeletal frame, and it looks like the stint has been a success.

But despite treatment, the starlet was still dwarfed by her giant red sunglasses.

Nicole抯 return to health is good news for her on-off pal PARIS HILTON too.

It means the girls can soon start work on the latest series of their show THE SIMPLE LIFE. Filming was suspended while Nicole was getting treatment. [Sun]

Nicole Richie may have had gastric bypass surgery

Page Six has a blind item today asking: "Which young Hollywood starlet had secret gastric bypass surgery, but then lost too much weight? During a recent four-day stint at a health clinic, she was actually having an operation to remove the bypass."

Which sounds a lot like it could be Nicole Richie. If it is her, then it turns out she's not anorexic at all, just ridiculously stupid. You don't get gastric bypass surgery when you're 12 pounds overweight. That's like killing a spider with a hammer. And by hammer I mean the hammer that's glued to the missile you shot at it.

Nicole Richie proved that the road to recovery is a beautiful one this weekend as she and a pal hit up West Hollywood's hippest street, Robertson Boulevard, for some wining, dining, and, of course, shopping. The normally paparazzi-hatin' celebutante freely posed for photo hounds before making a quick getaway back to her condo.

People Magazine is reporting that Nicole Richie has put on at least 5 pounds since she began her treatment for her weight issues. Getting rid of bad influences was credited as one of the reasons why she is back on the right track (cough, cough - Zoe). She obviously has a long way to go. But at least she knows where she is heading now.

Us Weekly is reporting that Joel Madden is now dating Nicole Richie. Joel recently broke it off with the other skinny minnie, Hilary Duff. Nicole and Joel were spotted last week at Teddy抯 in Hollywood. The next night they were spotted with Joel抯 brother, Benji Madden, and his girlfriend. The brothers double dated at the Polo Lounge in Los Angeles.

Nicole Richie Busted for DUI! The Influence Wasn't Alcohol!

Nicole Richie was arrested for DUI early Monday morning. She was booked at 4:50 a.m this morning and was released 45 minutes ago. The booking sheet reveals Richie is 5'1" and 85 lbs.

We're told her SUV was spotted by two motorists going the wrong way on the 134 freeway in Burbank. The drivers called 911. When the CHP responded, Richie was stopped in the carpool lane and was alone in the vehicle. When cops approached the vehicle, Richie was on her cellphone. Law enforcement officers tell TMZ Nicole Richie admitted she had taken Vicodin and smoked pot.

A preliminary alcohol screening device revealed that Nicole was not under the influence of alcohol. This is not the first brush Richie has had with substance abuse. In 2003, she pled guilty to heroin possession. The charges were dismissed after she completed the terms of her probation. The CHP just informed TMZ the department will not release Richie's mugshot. Her reps were not immediately available for comment.

Nicole Richie might face jail time due to her recent DUI arrest. If convicted, Richie might face mandatory jail time for up to 5 days along with license suspension.

This is the second DUI for Richie as she was arrested in 2002 for having a .12 alcohol level when the legal limit is .08.
