Earthquake shakes buildings in Indonesian capital
http://www.thestar.com.my/news/s ... mp;sec=Worldupdates
JAKARTA (Reuters) - Tall buildings swayed as an earthquake struck the Indonesian capital and nearby parts of Java island on Wednesday, sowing fear two days after an undersea quake triggered a tsunami on the southern coast, witnesses said.
There were no immediate reports of casualties or damage, but people in several areas fled from office buildings and homes.
The quake's strength was 6.2 at its epicentre in the Indian Ocean off the southwestern tip of Java, Fauzi, an official at the national earthquake centre, told Reuters.
A quake of 7.7 magnitude on Monday off the southern Java coast triggered a tsunami that killed at least 550 people.
Asked on Indonesian news radio Elshinta whether the quake on Wednesday could cause a tsunami, Fauzi said: "If there is a tsunami it won't be big."
Indonesia's 17,000 islands sprawl along a belt of intense volcanic and seismic activity, part of what is called the "Pacific Ring of Fire", and is prone to frequent earthquakes. |

why buoys so easily damaged?
Two sensors damaged
Indonesia deployed two tsunami buoys last year off Sumatra island, part of a five-year project to install similar detectors all around the world? largest archipelago.
But when asked how many of them were operational, Prihantoro said: ?one.?
?e need at least 22 buoys to cover all of Indonesia. We have received two from Germany and they were deployed months ago. However, both of them are damaged now,? he said.
Both have since been removed from the sea and one of the damaged buoys is sitting in a warehouse in west Sumatra awaiting repairs.

Magnitude 5.1 quake rattles Pakistan-Iran border, no casualties reported
ISLAMABAD, Pakistan (AP) - A moderate earthquake jolted an area along Pakistan's border with neighboring Iran on Wednesday, but there were no reports of injuries or any damage, an official said.
The magnitude 5.1 quake - at 4:27 a.m (2327 GMT) _ was centered somewhere on the Pakistan-Iran border, about 1,200 kilometers (745 miles) west of the northwestern city of Peshawar, said Nasir Mahmood, assistant meteorologist at the state-run Seismological Center in Peshawar.
Mahmood did not have information on where exactly the tremor was centered in the frontier region.
Earthquakes are commonly felt in Pakistan. On Oct. 8, a magnitude 7.6 quake struck the country's northwest and its portion of the divided Himalayan region of Kashmir, killing more than 80,000 people and leaving more than three million others homeless.
Peshawar is about 150 kilometers (93 miles) northwest of the capital, Islamabad.-AP

Europe's heatwave claims victims
Europe's heatwave claims victims
Temperatures have reached well above 30C (86F) in some countries
A heatwave affecting much of Western Europe has resulted in several deaths, health officials say.
In the Netherlands, an annual walking event in the city of Nijmegen had to be called off at the half-way stage after two walkers died of heatstroke
In France, the deaths of three elderly people on Tuesday were linked to the soaring temperatures.
The UK is bracing for its hottest day of the year, with temperatures predicted to reach 36C (96.8F).
In Italy, farm union officials said the country was suffering one of the worst droughts in decades.
The heatwave also forced France's energy company, EDF, to scale back electricity generation at some of its nuclear power stations. The company asked its major clients to limit their electricity use.
The punishing heat has sparked a series of health warnings.
Officials are urging people to stay in the shade and drink plenty of water.
The hot spell is being compared to a heatwave in the summer of 2003, when some 20,000 people died across Europe as a result of heatstroke and dehydration.

many would end up in hell for not accepting Christ.

STRING OF DISASTERS
The Java tsunami is the latest in a string of disasters since Yudhoyono took office in late 2004, beginning with that year's tsunami and since then including earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, deadly landslides, floods, and a massive mud flow.
Some Indonesians, especially in Java where spiritualism and traditional beliefs linger on despite Islam's dominance, link the events with supernatural anger directed at Yudhoyono.
Before speaking in the mosque, Yudhoyono called for vigilance against disease and for aid to go to those who really need it.
The aid network in Indonesia, a vast nation of 220 million, has been stretched thin by the disasters of the past two years.

You can find many hafiz and hafizah in this world. Since the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) time until now and hereafter/qiamah (the judgement day), the integrity of the Quran will be protected.
Compilation of the Quran
The Quran was revealed piecemeal, according to the needs of the time. Angel Jibrail [PBUH] brought it to the Prophet [PBUH] who would memorize it. Afterwards, it was preserved in two ways.
First, through memorization, there were a number of early Muslims who would memorize each revelation as soon as it was revealed and thus had the whole Quran memorized at the time of the final revelation. The tradition of memorizing the entire Quran still continues, and a person who does so is called a Hafize Quran.
Second, the Quran was preserved through writing. Whenever any revelation took place, it was written at once on tablets, palm branches, shorn of leaves, or animal skin. This was done primarily by Zaid bin Thabit, who was the main scribe out of the 42 scribes of the revelation. The Prophet [PBUH] set the order of the chapters under the guidance of Angel Jibrail [PBUH] and ordered his companions to maintain that order. Abu Bakr, the first caliph of Islam, compiled the Quran, and Uthman, the third caliph, made numerous copies and sent one copy to each state capital.
Eternal Miracle
Al-Quran is the only ever living miracle. Today no other miracle of any prophet exists. According to a survey, the number of Huffaz (persons who have memorized the whole Quran) today is more than 10 million.
Millions of editions and copies were printed and handwritten in almost every part of the world. They were also translated into most of the languages of mankind. During the period of over 1400 years since the Quran was revealed, not a single letter was changed. This is one of the greatest miracles of the Quran.

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia:
"
Hafiz or Hafez (Arabic: "حافظ قرآن" حافظ), literally meaning 'guardian', is a term used by Muslims for people who have completely memorized the Qur'an.
The prophet Muhammad lived in the 7th century CE, in Arabia. In those times, many people were not literate. The Arabs preserved their histories, genealogies, and poetry by memory alone. When Muhammad proclaimed the verses later collected as the Qur'an, his followers naturally preserved the precious words by memorizing them.

Word as written are words on paper
As Christians, we are regularly confirmed by God in Christ as we walk this world.
The Bible is a piece we can confirm that way. |

13Friday,
I have explained to you, how the originality of the Quran was/is/will be maintained.
If Quran is/was pliagarised, why many verses in the Quran corrects contradictions in the Bible?
"Detailed descriptions on how the Quran corrects hundreds of contradictions in the Bible (Old and New Testament). Also included are Islamic replies to excuses by Jewish and Christian scholars. 200+ ways the Qur'an Corrects the Bible gives you the information to refute even the professors of evangelical missionaries. A new climax in comparative religion analysis."

Many Muslims and Islamists insist that Arabic Quran is the only one version for its holiness.
Muslims put so much emphasis on the Quran that God is not so important.
Christians treat the Bible as God Word irrespective of the languages.

pick one beautiful foreign song (whose language you understand very well) and translate it to your first language. you'll discover that it won't give the same sensation. i found most literary work is best understood in its original language.
But that doesn't mean one can't translate it at all. It is necessary, to attract the person to learn the origininal version. |
