major league tu, big time teams. macam SF Giants, NY Yankees, etc. minor league, mereka punye farm systems. masing-masing ada farm system sendiri. farm system ni ada 3 level, A, AA and AAA. biasanya, rookies akan start dari A-league, to work on their skills or polish it. lepas tu, naik satu-satu. tapi kalau outstanding, mereka boleh jump or terus main untuk major league teams. baseball, biasanya mereka dah kena draft right out of high school.

kalau betul-betul nak tau, kena research history mengenai NFL rules. dulu semua tu boleh. but, the last 5 years, semua benda macam tu cause problem. kalau tak on the field, off the field. kalau mereka celebrate with teammates, tak pe. nampak memang remeh, tapi if you're on the opponent team you won't feel the same. macamana kalau tujuan masukkan bola dalam baju tu innocent tapi kalau orang yang ada agenda, mereka mungkin buat semua tu dengan reason yang tertentu. may be nak licinkan bola sikit supaya opponent susah nak kick ke, nak grab ke, etc. anything possible. perkara ni dah berlaku but in different ways. so, setiap rules dibuat after the committee dah betul-betul research and tengok its pro and con. in NFL, nak keluarkan satu-satu rules tu bukannya senang. sometimes it takes 5-7 years because setiap keputusan mesti dipersetujui oleh 2/3 of the teams. sometimes kena try dulu during pre-season.

kat sini memang macam tu sebab every sport ada union masing-masing. so, setiap rule mesti kena ajak union berbincang juga. lagi satu, mereka kena protect the organization daripada sebarang saman, etc. kat sini banyak lawyer dari engineer, so, mereka akan cuba cari any loopholes whenever possible.

WEEK BY WEEK

By John Oehser - Colts.com

Despite Another 9-0 Record, Colts Focused on Next Opponent
INDIANAPOLIS - A striking thing about the Colts' approach to their very unique situation is there's little striking about it all.

A quick survey of the Colts? locker room Wednesday to see just how the Colts were approaching being 9-0 for a second consecutive season revealed:

No new tactics.

Few new quotes.

Little fresh insight.

Essentially, Colts players said Wednesday, they will take the same approach to being 9-0 this season as they did last season - which is to say, they hardly think about it at all.

They are focusing on this week? opponent, the Dallas Cowboys.

They are focusing on winning the AFC South.

They are focusing on improving.

Beyond that . . .

Well, there? just not much beyond that.

?e strive for the Ws, no matter how they come,? Colts offensive tackle Ryan Diem said Wednesday as the AFC South-leading Colts (9-0), the NFL? last remaining unbeaten team, prepared to play the Dallas Cowboys (5-4) at Texas Stadium in Irving, Texas, Sunday at 4:15 p.m.

?e?e finding ways to win. Something you hear (Colts Head (Coach) Tony) Dungy say a lot is, 'Find a way to win, whether it? special teams, defense, or if we can put up some points offensively.

?ither way, it? a team victory.?

The Colts this past Sunday beat the Buffalo Bills, 17-16, in the process becoming the first team in NFL history to start consecutive seasons with nine consecutive victories.

?e really haven? talked about that very much,? Colts quarterback Peyton Manning said. ? certainly haven? gotten into much of a comparative analysis compared to last year. We?e truly kind of a one-week-at-a-time-approach team. That? what we?e always done and that? what we?l continue to do. You never take wins for granted.

?ou appreciate the wins and at the same time, you?e trying to constantly improve. We need to improve this week.?

The Colts have won 31 of 34 regular-season games dating to midway through the 2004 season. They have won 30 consecutive regular-season games in which they have yet to clinch their playoff positioning and 30 of 31 regular-season games in which Colts quarterback Peyton Manning has played into the second half.

?e just come in and prepare the same way we did last week and the week before,? Colts center Jeff Saturday said. ?e boil it down to how we play. If we play good football, Colts-style football, not turn it over and create turnovers, it? going to be tough for teams to beat us.

?hat? the way we look at it.?

Since the Chicago Bears lost to the Miami Dolphins on November 5, the Colts have been the NFL? last remaining unbeaten team. It? a status they held for two months last season, during which they won their first 13 games.

That streak lasted long enough to dominate conversation on national radio and television shows into December, and while the attention on the current season-opening winning streak hasn? reached that level, the buzz
has begun.

On Wednesday, ESPN? cameras were in the locker room at the Colts? complex for a second consecutive week, and the Dallas Morning News and Philadelphia Inquirer had writers at the Colts? complex Wednesday.

?t definitely brings more media attention, which is cool,? Diem said. ?e?e fine with that. It? no big deal. We?e just got to go out and handle our business. It? something we?l look back on down the road and go, 'Wow, it was pretty cool to be part of history like that,? but our focus right now is to finish out the year the right way.?

Part of the focus in recent weeks has been not just the streak, but the nature of the streak ? as in, just how it is different from last year? streak.

A year ago, the Colts won each of their first 13 games by at least seven points, setting an NFL record for consecutive victories by a touchdown or more. This season, two of Indianapolis? victories have come by one point ? at home against Tennessee and Buffalo ? and seven of the nine victories have come by a touchdown or less.

The Colts have trailed in six of their last seven games.

? look at it as, ?e?e winning games,? ? Saturday said. ?owever you?e got to win them, it doesn? change them. I?e heard people say, ?h, they?e close games. They?e tight games.?

? look at it as we?e finding ways to win. However we have to do it, I don? care if they?e one point or 50 points, that really doesn? bother me at all.?

Dungy said while he appreciates the difficulty of eight- or nine-game winning streaks, he said what the Colts have done is in one sense not entirely unique.

?hat people have to understand is that these streaks the last two years have been at the beginning of the year, so everybody is focused on them,? he said. ?f you lose one at the beginning and then go on a streak, you?e playing the same kind of ball, it just doesn? have the focus. We?e had several streaks the last few years. We had an eight-game streak in ?04 that nobody really zeroed in on and we had a five-game streak at the beginning of ?03.

?his team knows how to continue to play good ball and what I like about this team is their consistency. For us, the undefeated thing is not a big deal. The fact that we?e done it at the beginning of the year has probably put a little more light on it, but it hasn? changed the way we approach things.?

As has been the case the past two seasons, when it comes to winning streaks, records and history, that? the standard Colts answer ? that all of those things are fine, but they are also periphery issues. And while players said they know that? not a particularly exciting answer, there? really not much beyond that.

?e?e going to do the same thing,? Colts defensive end Josh Thomas said. ?hat? what Coach Dungy preaches. It? PC (politically correct) and its clich?, but honestly, that? exactly how we take it ? one snap at a time. None of us are looking ahead.

?e?e got Dallas this week and that? honestly all we?e thinking about.?

[B]HIGHLIGHT FOR WEEK 11

Week 11: Colts go for 10-0 in 'Big D'

(Nov. 14, 2006) -- "It will be fun this week. This is why you play the game."

That's Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo talking about his matchup this Sunday with Peyton Manning and the unbeaten Indianapolis Colts.

But Tony could be talking about any of Week 11's games, especially coming off the excitement of last week. There were big comeback wins (21 points by San Diego and 19 by Baltimore) ? two 900-yard games (New Orleans-Pittsburgh and San Diego-Cincinnati) ? the highest-scoring game of the year (90 points, San Diego-Cincinnati) ? 10 70-yard plays, the most in a weekend since 2001 (Week 9) ? and a 108-yard TD runback that tied for the longest play in NFL history by -- who else? -- one of the Chicago Bears (Devin Hester, after teammate Nathan Vasher did it last year).

What a way to start the season's second half! Oh, and the Colts won again.

Indianapolis, with its victory over Buffalo, became the first NFL team to start consecutive seasons at 9-0. This week, the Colts seek to become the 17th club ever to start 10-0.

With Thanksgiving looming, "There is so much football left to go," says Bears head coach Lovie Smith. The "going" starts this week:

ATLANTA FALCONS (5-4) at BALTIMORE RAVENS (7-2)
Storyline: 83 and 86 mean 6.

As much as QBs Michael Vick of Atlanta and Steve McNair of Baltimore (this will be their first meeting) are known for their long-ball power, their most productive targets are their tight ends. The Falcons' Alge Crumpler (No. 83) and Ravens' Todd Heap (No. 86) lead their clubs in TD receptions with six and five, respectively.

Baltimore, which has won three in a row since head coach Brian Billick took over the play-calling duties, will be wary about the reappearance of the "old" Falcons, who averaged almost 30 points per game in going 3-1 in October. Atlanta has lost its last two, but still boasts the league's No. 1 rushing offense of almost 200 yards per game (198.9).

You're not welcome: Ravens have won nine of their 12 home games since last season.

NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS (6-3) at GREEN BAY PACKERS (4-5)
Storyline: Brady and Brett.

Two of the best quarterbacks, perhaps ever -- New England's Tom Brady and Green Bay's Brett Favre -- meet for the second time in their multi-Super Bowl, multi-MVP careers, and the first in Green Bay. On Oct. 13, 2002, Favre threw three TD passes to Brady's one in leading the Pack to a 28-10 victory over the Super Bowl XXXVI champions.

Now it's halfway through '06 and the Patriots have -- shockingly -- lost two in a row (they have won six straight on the road), and the Packers have won three of their last four after a 1-4 start.

Key to the game could be the ability of the Pats' banged-up secondary to negate speedy WR Donald Driver, who comes off a career-high 191-yard game.

CHICAGO BEARS (8-1) at NEW YORK JETS (5-4)
Storyline: It's almost a home game for both teams!

The Bears play at the Meadowlands for the second week in a row (the first team to do so since Washington in 1999). They'd like the same type of result as last Sunday night, a 38-20 win over the Giants featuring Devin Hester's incredible 108-yard runback.

The Jets know they will be facing the NFL's top-rated defense, and No. 1 pass defense. They will try to replicate their success last week against New England by controlling the ball on long drives. QB Chad Pennington led 16- and 15-play scoring drives that gave New York a cushion against a late Patriots comeback bid.

Chicago has the largest point differential in the NFL -- a plus-152 margin between points scored (272) and allowed (120).

INDIANAPOLIS COLTS (9-0) at DALLAS COWBOYS (5-4)
Storyline: Peyton debuts in Dallas!

He is a born-and-bred Southerner, but Sunday will be Colts QB Peyton Manning's first appearance in Texas Stadium.

The league's top-rated QB will face a highly proficient team on both offense and defense. The Cowboys are the lone NFL club with top-10 rankings in the overall/rushing/passing categories on both offense and defense.

And, as Tony Romo (ranked No. 2 in the league to Manning in passer rating, 101.2 to 104.5) says, this might be fun. The matchup features some of the most explosive receivers in the game -- Terrell Owens and Terry Glenn (quad) of Dallas and Marvin Harrison and Reggie Wayne of Indianapolis.

SAN DIEGO CHARGERS (7-2) at DENVER BRONCOS (7-2)
Storyline: Battle for first, with L.T. thrown in.

"We know what's at stake," says Chargers RB LaDainian Tomlinson. "First place."

Indeed it is, with the teams tied for the AFC West lead with 7-2 records. San Diego has not won in Denver since 1999. In fact, the Broncos are 5-1 over the Chargers the past three seasons.

But Denver will have to contend with a hotter-than-hot Tomlinson. Now the league's top touchdown scorer with 18, he has registered 15 TDs in the last five games, topping the all-time mark of Jim Brown over such a span (14 in 1958).

The Broncos have been able to somewhat rein in Tomlinson at home over the years. He has averaged 52.8 yards in five games in Denver, against 115.2 yards in five games in San Diego. Plus, Denver has their own TD-maker in WR Javon Walker, with five scoring catches in his past three games.

NEW YORK GIANTS (6-3) at JACKSONVILLE JAGUARS (5-4)
Storyline: Welcome back, Tom!

Giants head coach Tom Coughlin will direct his first game in Jacksonville since he led the then-expansion Jaguars from 1995-2002, taking them to two AFC Championship Games in that time. "It's a business trip," says Coughlin.

That it is. Both teams want to get back to the business of winning after Week 10 losses. The Giants will face a Jaguars team -- 7-2 all-time on Monday Night Football -- that has outscored opponents 121-37 in five home games, registering 13 touchdowns while allowing four. The Giants have not suffered back-to-back losses since 2004.

Two matchups will deserve extra attention. The first is a battle of the veteran RBs. The Jaguars' nine-year vet Fred Taylor comes off his sixth game of at least 100 yards from scrimmage. Giants 10-year veteran Tiki Barber leads the NFL in rushing (971 yards) and is No. 2 in scrimmage yards (1,269).

The other great matchup will be between Giants QB Eli Manning and Jags CB Rashean Mathis, who leads the league in interceptions (6), with seven in his last 10 games dating back to last season.

DISAPPOINTING FINISH

By John Oehser - Colts.com

After Three Solid Quarters, Dungy Disappointed in Fourth-Quarter Defense
IRVING, Texas ? Through three quarters, things hardly could have been better for the Colts? defense.
The unit was aggressive.

The Cowboys were unable to run efficiently.

And through those three quarters, Dallas couldn? score an offensive touchdown.

Then came the fourth quarter.

And what happened then, Colts Head Coach Tony Dungy said he couldn? quite explain fully.

?e just got into a panic mode,? Dungy said after the Colts? first loss of the season, a 21-14 loss to the Dallas Cowboys in front of 63,706 at Texas Stadium.

?e started doing things that it? hard to explain instead of playing our technique and doing what we should do. That was the disappointing part.

? thought we played pretty well until the fourth quarter.?

The Colts, after allowing 200 yards through the first three quarters, allowed 134 yards in the fourth. Dallas scored its only two offensive touchdowns in that period.

?hey called a good game,? said Colts defensive end Dwight Freeney, whose first-quarter sack forced one of two turnovers created by the Indianapolis defense Sunday.

?t? hard for me to tell you exactly what happened until we see the film on Monday, then you go, ?K, this is kind of what happened.? They made calls when they had to make the calls. Whatever they did, they had success doing it.

?hat? just part of the game. It? part of the National Football League. They get paid, too.?

One of the game? turning-point plays went against the Colts early in the period.

With just under 12 minutes remaining in the game, the Cowboys faced 3rd-and-goal on the Colts 10. Indianapolis led, 14-7.

Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo threw to his left, and Colts safety Antoine Bethea intercepted, returning it to the Dallas 31.

But Colts cornerback Jason David was called for holding on the play.

? can? even explain it,? Dungy said. ?t? just something that should never happen.?

On the ensuing play, Cowboys running back Marion Barber scored on a 5-yard run to tie the game, 14-14.

?wo or three plays here, two or three there kind of swing the game,? Colts defensive tackle Anthony ?ooger? McFarland said. ?n the NFL, the game always comes down to the fourth quarter. We got a little bit out of rhythm and we made some costly mistakes. That? what cost us.?

The Cowboys, who had driven 68 yards for the tying touchdown, then drove 80 yards on seven plays for the go-ahead touchdown. Again, it was Barber scoring ? this time on a 1-yard run. After the Colts failed to score on their ensuing drive, the Cowboys took possession at their 8-yard line.

Barber ran for 20 yards on first down, and Colts cornerback Marlin Jackson was penalized 15 yards for a face-mask penalty. On the next play, Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo threw 22 yards to Cowboys tight end Anthony Fasano.

Three plays later, Romo? 7-yard pass to Terry Glenn produced a first down that allowed Dallas to run out the final two minutes.

Romo, who completed 19 of 23 passes for 226 yards and no touchdowns with an interception for the game, completed 6 of 6 passes for
102 yards in the fourth quarter.

?ny time you give up big plays, and you don? get more turnovers than them . . . their defense outplayed our defense,? Colts linebacker Cato June said. ? think that was the key in the second half. They played a little better than we did.?

CLARIFICATION, PLEASE: Among the topics in the locker room in the wake of the Colts? first loss of the season were two missed opportunities near the Cowboys? goal line.

The first, which came in the second quarter, ended when Colts quarterback Peyton Manning threw a pass that was intercepted by safety Roy Williams at the Dallas 1. On the play, Colts tight end Dallas Clark and a Dallas defender made contact and Clark was on the ground when Williams made the interception.

? asked the official on the interception,? Dungy said. ?e said he (the Dallas defender) made contact within the five before the ball was thrown. I said, ? find it hard to believe my quarterback would throw the ball to a guy who was on the ground and just throw it to someone on defense.? I questioned that, but that? what happens. You can? make those errors down there.?

On the Colts? final drive, facing 4th-and-2 from the Dallas 8, Manning threw incomplete in the back of the end zone. On the play, Colts wide receiver Reggie Wayne was bumped by a Cowboys defenders. Manning said later that officials ruled the bump occurred within five yards of the line of scrimmage, an area in which a defender can contact a receiver if the ball has not yet been thrown.

STOKLEY, SANDERS OUT: Safety Bob Sanders and wide receiver Brandon Stokley were declared inactive shortly before Sunday? game.

Sanders, who has missed seven of the last eight games with a knee injury, missed his second consecutive game. Stokley has missed eight of the team? 10 games.

Colts middle linebacker Gary Brackett also missed a second consecutive game.

Other Colts inactives Sunday:

Safety Matt Giordano, tight end Jason Collins, linebacker Keith O?eil, linebacker Gary Brackett

St. Louis 20     San Francisco 17

ST. LOUIS (AP) -- The St. Louis Rams broke another team's heart for a change.

Marc Bulger threw a 5-yard touchdown pass to Kevin Curtis with 27 seconds to go for a 20-17 victory over the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday, snapping a five-game skid that included two leads lost in the final minute.

Stymied much of the second half, Bulger led a 12-play, 80-yard drive for the winning score.

Frank Gore had 134 yards on 21 carries for the 49ers, who missed a chance to keep the pressure on first-place Seattle in the NFC West. San Francisco has not been above .500 this late in the season since 2002.

Both of St. Louis' last-minute losses during the slump came against the Seahawks. This time, safety Oshiomogo Atogwe intercepted a desperation pass by Alex Smith and ran out the clock.

The Rams (5-6) responded after the 49ers (5-6) punished the NFL's weakest run defense to take a 17-13 lead. San Francisco chewed up more than seven minutes on a 13-play, 75-yard march capped by Joe Nedney's 24-yard field goal with 3:54 to go. Only one play during that drive was a pass, with Gore, Maurice Hicks and Michael Robinson all keeping the chains moving on the ground.

Bulger was 9-for-9 for 66 yards during the final drive.

Gore, who has four 100-yard games in the last five weeks, had 40 yards on five carries in the drive. He also produced the 49ers' lone highlight of the first half, a 12-yard scoring run in which he powered through Atogwe at the 2.

mike nolan made a bonehead decision for NOT going for a TD when niners were inside rams 10 yard line and it's 4th and inches. no killer instinct means you're going to win playoff games but NOT superbowl!
