TIPS FOR CURRICULUM VITAE

di sini saya nak kupaskan sedikit tentang
CV  or resume yang perlu dibuat oleh graduan yang
baru keluar U  - dan hendak mencari kerja... atau yang dah bekerja
dan mahu mencari pekerjaan lain..

saya ingin mengingatkan bahawa -- CV adalah AMAT
penting untuk mendapat PERHATIAN dari pihak majikan
dan company yang you apply for a job there...

having written hundreds of resume and helping out some...
saya ingin memberi sedikit TIPS  dalam membuat resume...
( dan sesiapa yang  FIRST TIME nak buat resume --
dan ingin mendapat sedikit pertolongan -- saya cuba bantu
sedaya saya boleh... sikit sikit okay la - saya pun still
nak improve juga...)

in writing resume - MAKE SURE:

1.  DETAILS ABOUT YOUR PERSONAL.
name
i/c
address
contact  number  
( kalau boleh 2-3  phone number yang boleh dihubungi)
age
status
gender

( i rather u dun put  race or religion  but thats an option --
depends on the job u applied )

2. EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND --

for educational background -- wanna remind you
NO NEED TO PUT  RESULT OF  UPSR  OR  PMR
even u get  5As  and 8As  respectively...
not gonna make any different in hiring...  thus it can be omitted..

SPM --  if the job wanna stress get As in math or science
put  SPM - FIRST GRADE -- ( A in math   and science)
or A1 in  english 1119

and if have degree  - put your degree and which university u obtained it from...

it is good to put your CGPA  -- if u get  good cgpa
if u have average  only  no need  just  your degree ....
eg:
Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration  CGPA 3.2

no need to put all the courses u took -----


3. EMPLOYMENT BACKGROUND...

this one is very important....  eventhough lets say u ni fresh grads
put  any TEMP job that u been doing....
lets say   TEMP  teacher  1 month in  such and such school
or EVEN TUTORING  during semester break....
or even  helping out kat convo sales at  your university....

put the position
duration
and job description..

starting with  your latest -


4. SKILLS

your language
your typing
your computer knowledge
your communication skills
your interest

etc etc yang u rasa boleh menolong


REFERENCES ---  optional.......

kalau job tu require -- put it
if not

just tulis   references available upon request...

availability...
either  - immediately
or  lets say  u are working now ---  give the approx date  november 2006

if u working  put :  
notice : 1 month  or 3 month   
depends how long the notice u required to give to your current employment..


IMPORTANT  -----

RESUME IS - WHAT u wanna represent yourself
before  the employer  decided to call you and meet you..
therefore it is very IMPORTANT  to present yourself...
and make the resume --- very effective  ---

thanks for the tips
very useful..just a short question, i'm doing engineering course but right now i am working as a part timer as a restaurant helper ans a construction worker. so do i need to right that also? and do i need to put in the reference for this kind of job?

de nada...
why not, eh....
u can put u working in the restaurant
no need to put as a  waiter
put -- cashers / customer services  (temp)
what important here -- u communicate with customers
answering the phone is important
even in construction worker....
cuz it works with people - and thats IMPORTANT....

reference? --- no need to put reference for this...
reference  biasanya -- majikan dari  FT employment
or if havent work FT --  close friends that know you..

what kind of engineering?
electrical? mechanical? computer  or civil or chemical?

lepas personal detail
put OBJECTIVE....
that wud be great -- and catch the eye of the employer..

hiya fairy..

objective  tu  - sort of sama macam apa
position or roles u sought - ...
so  fairy boleh tukar kan position tu kepada
objective -- and re arranged -- what u wanna do.. --
below is the example that i put in my resume before



Position and Roles Sought
Administrator or Executives position.
Specializing in preparation of proposals and projects.  
Specifically seeking opportunities which require the ability to:

•        Promote effective client and vendor relationships;
•        Establish and implementing reports or projects;
•        Recommend and effect organizational change through project based initiatives.



dan untuk nampak lebih presentable
under communication  boleh buat cam ni:

( communication tu  under SKILLS )


Communications
•        Excellent written and oral skills

thanks for stressing on objective.
but can i put it this way?

"To look for part-time/ internships/ summer jobs to enhance work experience in related field i.e. architectural, construction and human interaction skills, thus also looking forward to secure a permanent job after graduating"

sbb yang lain2 mcm interest n language proficiency i put it under Skills, afterwards la..

alhamdulillah setakat ni pegi interview 3 kali, sume job dpt... tinggal pilih jer.

actually -
it is not necessary to put CGPA in resume when
you are applying for a job UNLESS they specifically
asked for it --

also - if you scored 3.5 and above - prolly it is a good
idea to put -

22nd ni ada interview post peg penyelidik...

Dah stahun keja ngan priv company, xda kaitan ngan major..
Keja finance tp study science tech..
