aku ingat lagi TV3 penah tayangkan siri Jack The Ripper selama 4 episod. Time tu tahun 90-an. Tapi masa tu aku cukup seram betul tiap kali menonton siri tu. Dan sampai sekarang susah nak percaya pasal betapa ada orang yang sanggup lapah2 manusia sampai camtu sekali.

Jack the Ripper and the Whitechapel Murders

A series of murders in 1888 - 1891 in London's East End were investigated with increasing urgency by Scotland Yard.   The murder victims were all women, and were linked by gruesome disfigurement by the perpetrator, who was never identified.   The murderer became known as Jack the Ripper because of a letter sent to Scotland Yard, apparently by the murderer himself.

Because of the ways in which the victims were mutilated with a sharp knife or scalpel, medical knowledge or skill at wielding a knife has become one of the criteria for suspicion.   The four main suspects can be listed as:

•  Kosminski , a poor Polish Jew resident in Whitechapel. Kosminski was certainly suspected by the head of the C.I.D. Dr. Robert Anderson, and the officer in charge of the case, Chief Inspector Donald Swanson.
  

•  Michael Ostrog , a Russian-born multi-pseudonymous thief and confidence trickster, believed to be 55 years old in 1888, and detained in asylums on several occasions. Ostrog was arrested and imprisoned before a report (see below) was compiled.


These three men were nominated in a report by Sir Melville Macnaghten, second in command of the CID. They were named in a report dated 23 February 1894, although there is no evidence of contemporary police suspicion against the three at the time of the murders.

•  Dr Francis J. Tumblety , 56 years old, an American 'quack' doctor, who was arrested in November 1888 for offences of gross indecency, and fled the country later the same month, having obtained bail at a very high price. Tumblety, was stated to have been "amongst the suspects" at the time of the murders and "to my mind a very likely one," by the ex-head of the Special Branch at Scotland Yard in 1888, ex-Detective Chief Inspector John George Littlechild.   He confided his thoughts in a letter dated 23 September, 1913, to the criminological journalist and author George R Sims.

The list is contentious for those who have studied the case.   Arguments can be made against all of them being the culprit, and no hard evidence exists against any of them.   The police were at no stage in a position to prove a case against anyone, and it is highly unlikely a positive case will ever be proved.


The name "Jack the Ripper" and the "Dear Boss.." letter

The name Jack the Ripper is easy to explain.   It was written at the end of a letter, dated 25 September, 1888, and received by the Central News Agency on 27 September, 1888. They, in turn, forwarded it to the Metropolitan Police on 29 September. The letter was couched in lurid prose and began "Dear Boss......" It went on to speak of "That joke about Leather Apron gave me real fits......'' ('Leather Apron' was a John Pizer, briefly suspected at the time of the Chapman murder).   "I am down on whores and I shan't quit ripping them till I do get buckled..."; and so on in a similar vein.   The appended "trade name" of Jack the Ripper was then made public and further excited the imagination of the populace.

The two murders of 30 September 1888 gave the letter greater importance and to underline it the unknown correspondent again committed red ink to postcard and posted it on 1 October. In this communication he referred to himself as 'saucy Jacky...' and spoke of the "double event......." He again signed off as Jack the Ripper. The status of this correspondence is still being discussed by modern historians.


The message on the wall

Immediately after the Eddowes murder a piece of her bloodstained apron was found in a doorway in Goulston Street, Whitechapel. Above the piece of apron, on the brick fascia in the doorway, was the legend, in chalk, "The Juwes are The men that Will not be Blamed for nothing."  A message from the murderer, or simply anti-Semitic graffiti?   Expert opinion is divided.


The investigating officers

The murders were considered too complex for the local Whitechapel (H) Division C.I.D, headed by Detective Inspector Edmund Reid, to handle alone.    Assistance was sent from the Central Office at Scotland Yard, after the Nichols murder, in the persons of Detective Inspectors, Frederick George Abberline, Henry Moore, and Walter Andrews, together with a team of subordinate officers.   Reinforcements were drafted into the area to supplement the local men. After the Eddowes murder the City Police, under Detective Inspector James McWilliam, were also engaged on the hunt for the Killer.   In early 1889 lnspector Abberline left, to take on other cases, and the inquiry was handed over to Inspector Henry Moore.   His last extant report on the murders is dated 1896, when another 'Jack the Ripper' letter was received.

hmmm ... ade sekali tu aku tgk forensic factor ... ala ala real life CSI kat discovery channel ... derang buat kajian profile pembunuh bersiri ... so jack the ripper was one of the classic case derang kaji ...  so forensic investigators/criminal profilers yg diintebiu based on their experiences solving cases ... derang ckp ade kemungkinan jack the ripper ni bkn dr golongan atasan ... org2 biasa je yg idup kat kawasan berlaku pembunuhan tu sume .... berdasarkan perimeter kawasan yg derang da identified .... derang siap buat geo-forensic technology punye kajian kat tempat pembunuhan tu occured and all of them confident gilerk ckp if they were given chances to travel back in time bringing in their latest technology they could solve the jack the ripper mystery in no time ...

Scotland Yard Releases Jack The Ripper Files

Chief Inspector Donald Swanson, who headed the murder investigation has released his notes to Scotland Yard, and there are some unpleasant surprises. For 100 years people were told that Scotland Yard wasn't sure who the slasher was. In July of 2006 the truth was revealed, Aaron Kosminski was the Ripper.

Chief Swanson identified Aaron Kosminski, a Polish-Jewish hairdresser living in Whitechapel, East London, as Jack the Ripper. Swanson believes he killed others.

How He Killed



Kosminski first strangled them, then cut their throats, after which the cadaver was cut at the abdominal region, organs were removed, and sometimes he preformed genital mutilation.

He ate some of the women's organs.


Who Was Aaron Kosminski

Kosminski was born in 1864 to a Russian Jewess, Golda Abrahams. This was a very unstable  period for Russia, there were 'problems' with the Jews, and Tsar Nicholas 1 had to create the Pale of the Settlement to contain the problem. In the 1870's the Czar eased restrictions and soon Jewish merchants, doctors, and lawyers flooded the cities. In 1881 Tsar Alexander II was killed by Jewish sponsored revolutionaries.

The Russian populace started exercising pograms,  breaking into Jew's houses and shops, looting and burning property, beating, raping, and frequently killing the inhabitants. Kosminski grew up in this environment.


Kominski's Childhood

There was no father in his childhood. He was raised by the mother and his two sisters, he saw the sisters as domineering mother figures. Aaron shares a bed with one or both of his sisters when he is living in the Pale, and begins to develop sexual fantasies involving his sisters. He witnesses his sisters' menstrual bleeding, and the fascination begins. Betsy would have been 12 years old in 1869, and Aaron was only 4 or 5 - and as a result of this becomes obsessed with the female sexual organs, imagining blood or violence to be associated with sexuality.


Kominski Starts Hating Women

At 16, during the Russian pogroms, he witnesses the rape of members of his family, and he enjoyed it. His sister's often ridiculed  his compulsive masturbation, which in his mind signified their rejection of his sexual fantasies, and their rape was justice.


Russia Flushes It Sewers

Kominski immigrates and is now a Whitechapel hairdresser.


Murders Resembled Blood Libel



Many still think that Kosminski was acting out a form of Blood Libel. The long lower abdominal cut, strangulation, throat slitting, was the age old form Jews used for centuries in their horrid ceremonies.


The Witnesses



Israel Schwartz saw Jack the Ripper, but when he viewed Kosminski, he refused to testify against him. He did not want the hanging of a fellow Jew on his conscious.


London's Jewish Community Wanted Silence



This occurred during the period where Russia flushed their sewers and over 200,000 Jewish immigrants landed in Europe, and especially London. This was probably the most anti Semitic period in Londoners history.

The Police Locked Him In Asylums

Kosminski was removed from society in 1890, and placed in the Mile End asylum. And then to Colney Hatch and Leaversden where under the care of his Jewish doctors, they see to it that Kosminski is drugged to the point he was brain dead. He died in 1919.


Is Hollywood Planning Any Movies?

Most people think of 'Jack the Ripper' as another Phantom of the Opera, or Headless Horseman, a legendary type thing. You read the details and Arron wasn't just a naughty boy, he was a genuine monster.

The best guess is this will be buried like the Leo Frank case.
