Defender James Collins scored his first goal for Aston Villa to condemnPremier League leaders Chelsea to a second successive away defeat.

• Ancelotti bemoans defending
Martin O'Neill's £5 million capture from West Ham took advantage of slack marking to head the winner after 52 minutes.
DidierDrogba had given the Blues the lead after 15 minutes but Collins'defensive partner Richard Dunne levelled before the interval.
Bluesboss Carlo Ancelotti will be frustrated with his side's defending astwo corners from Ashley Young presented Dunne and Collins with freefar-post headers for the goals.
It completely undermined the threat posed by his side going forward, with Deco shining in a free role behind the strikers.
ButChelsea found Villa goalkeeper Brad Friedel in inspired form with aseries of excellent saves making amends for gifting Drogba the openinggoal.
And Collins and Stephen Warnock also played their part in thwarting Chelsea with a series of excellent blocks.
Skipper Stiliyan Petrov was effective in the centre of the park as Villa maintained their push for a European spot.
Thekick off was delayed for five minutes after referee Steve Bennett wastaken ill and fourth official Keith Friend stepped into the breach.
Villa striker Gabriel Agbonlahor had the first effort on goal and his shot on the turn was deflected wide.
Thehome side had claims for a penalty rejected when Jose Boswinga wrestledwith Agbonlahor in the box in attempting to get on the end of a firsttime cross from Petrov.
James Milner then made a superb tackle inside his own box to deny Florent Malouda.
Butafter 15 minutes a rare mistake by Friedel, in his 198th consecutivePremier League appearance, allowed Drogba to put Chelsea ahead.
Drogbafired in a hopeful 30-yard drive but Friedel allowed the ball to bounceover his dive and into the corner of the net. It was Drogba's seventhgoal of the campaign.
Villa tried to retaliate and Chelseaskipper John Terry made a crucial interception to cut out a low centrefrom Milner with John Carew and Agbonlahor unmarked in the danger area.
Chelseawere now looking the more likely to score and Ashley Cole was only justtoo high with a rising drive after a powerful surge forward.
But after 32 minutes Dunne struck for the second successive match to bring Villa back on level terms.
Essienwas forced to concede a corner after good link up play betweenAgbonlahor and Petrov. Young's centre flicked off the head of FrankLampard and Dunne was on hand to head home at the far past.
TheRepublic of Ireland international celebrated in a way he had declinedto do when netting against his former club Manchester City 12 days ago.
Agbonlahor became the first player to be booked after 35 minutes for a challenge on Essien.
Friedelredeemed himself for his earlier error when tipping over a chip fromDeco at full stretch and then made another crucial stop to deny Drogbaat point-blank range.
Villa took the lead early in the secondhalf when Collins was left completely unmarked at the far post to powera header past Cech from Young's inswinging corner.
Lampard wasonly a couple of feet wide with a low 20-yard drive as Chelsea tried torespond, but Friedel showed he had fully recovered from his first-halferror with another excellent block on a shot from Deco, who had beenput clear by Drogba.
Malouda was then denied by Friedel who beat out his fierce 20-yard shot as Chelsea searched for the equaliser.

Ancelotti bemoans defendingChelsea manager Carlo Ancelotti admits his team have work to do on set playsafter they twice conceded from corners to go down 2-1 at Aston Villa.''Welost the game because we had two set plays,'' Ancelotti told SkySports.''We need to be more focused on the situation. Chelsea played a goodgame and we don't want to lose the game in that situation, only if theother team play better than us. Aston Villa were very able on the setplays. We want to do better for sure. We need more concentration.''Villa manager Martin O'Neill insisted his team were good value for theirvictory. ''We can definitely compete,'' he said. ''We've a lot of good players in theteam and it was a great effort against a top-quality team. My view is thatanybody who finishes in front of Chelsea will win the Premier League.''Set pieces are part of the game today - World Cup finals have been settled onset pieces - but that tended to overlook what we can do. We try to get it wideand we've got players who can electrify the crowd.''O'Neillalso claimed Villa should have had a penalty after Gabriel Agbonlahorwent down in the box under pressure from Jose Bosingwa. ''I was a majordecision,'' he said. ''I think when the referee sees it again he willadmit that he got it wrong. It was a penalty and the consequence wasthat their player ought to have been sent off.''Former West Ham centre-back Collins, whose last goal was three-and-a-half yearsago, was delighted to finally end his barren run.Hesaid: ''It's something we've been working on. I haven't scored for alongtime and it used to be a big part of my game. We've got some big ladsin the team and it helps when the delivery is great from Ash (AshleyYoung) and Milly (James Milner). This stands us in good stead. We knowwhat level we're at and got to staythere week in, week out.''Richard Dunne added: ''We know we're a good side and we have the confidence. Themanager tells us every day how good we are. The last performance here was reallygood, we want to be up there with the top four or top six.''

Premier League - John Carew scores winner for Aston Villa against Stoke

Super-sub John Carew's second half header was enough for Aston Villa to earn a 1-0 win over Stoke at Villa Park and record their fourth straight Premier League victory.

Martin O'Neill's in-form side improved their Champions Leagueprospects with a hard-fought win over a Stoke team that will feelhard-done-by after they had a goal disallowed in the first half.

Carew'sheader just after the hour mark relieved the frustration inside VillaPark, evidenced by the Norwegian striker knocking the corner flagstraight into the crowd in celebration - narrowly missing a steward andseveral fans in the process.
The visitors proved a tough nutto crack and started the brighter of the two sides. Despite the absenceof Rory Delap from their line-up, they caused Villa problems withMamady Sidibe winning his fair share of headers in and around the box.
It was the hosts though that created the first real chance of the match after 16 minutes: former Villa keeper Thomas Sorensen had to be at his best to make a smart double save from Stiliyan Petrov and Gabriel Agbonlahor.
Petrov'sinitial effort was parried by Sorensen, who then reacted with haste tostretch out an arm and block Agbonlahor's instant close-rangefollow-up.

It was another 16 minutes before a further chanceof note came along - and when it arrived it was shrouded incontroversy, referee Lee Probert disallowing what appeared to be aperfectly good goal.
Sidibe powered home a close-range headerfrom a Stoke free-kick on the left wing, only for Probert to signal afoul by the Stoke striker on Villa defender Stephen Warnock. Replays showed minimal contact between the two.

Villa had been forced into a change after only 22 minutes when England striker Emile Heskeylimped off clutching his left leg. His replacement Carew was denied anopening goal on 34 minutes thanks to a smart last-gasp intervention by Danny Higginbotham.

Stoke started the second half much as they had the first, but again it was Villa who had the first opportunity when Ashley Young found Carew on 54 minutes - the big striker firing over from a few yards out after turning his man smartly.
ThePotters had a chance to equalise two minutes prior to Carew's winner, but Glen Whelan, who tried his luck on several occasions withoutsuccess, saw his effort blocked.

England midfielder James Milnerwas pulling the strings for Villa, but it was club and countrycolleague Young whose precise cross found Carew in space on thesix-yard line. He was never going to miss from that close in.
Villa were never totally comfortable with their slender lead, however, while both Tuncay and Dean Whitehead had outstanding chances to grab an equaliser.

The hosts did enough in the end to claim all three points and strengthen their European prospects, remaining third in the table.
