aimez, oobi tensen tau sebab my sharks kalah kat oilers last season. dah leading 2-0, masih kalah. hmmm... geram. both teams were good but oilers were more physical than the sharks, plus they were trained to play for more than 60 minutes. hopefully, this season the sharks will show more jaws.

The National Hockey League (NHL) is a professional sports organization composed of ice hockey teams in North America. Its French name is Ligue Nationale de Hockey (LNH). It is the premier professional ice hockey league in the world,[2] and one of the North American major professional sports leagues. The league was founded in 1917 in Montreal, Quebec with five teams, and through a series of expansions, reductions and relocations is now composed of 30 teams, 24 of which are based in the United States and six in Canada. After a labour dispute that led to the cancellation of the complete 2004

New Jersey 0    San Jose 2

POSTED: 10:51 pm PST November 25, 2006

San Jose, CA -- (Sports Network) - Evgeni Nabokov stopped 24 shots en route to his third shutout of the season, as the San Jose Sharks defeated the New Jersey Devils, 2-0, at HP Pavilion.

Joe Thornton tallied the game-winner for the Sharks, who have won four of five. Mike Grier added a short-handed, empty net goal with eight ticks remaining to seal the win.

Martin Brodeur was solid between the pipes, stopping 25-of-26 chances for the Devils, who are on a three-game slide.

Each club posted seven shots on goal, but skated to a scoreless first period. Thornton had a hand in two of the best scoring chances for the Sharks, but his shot hit the crossbar at 11:17, and a feed to Mark Bell at the side of the crease ended with Brodeur smothering the puck.

Perfect netminding also continued through the second period. San Jose had two power play opportunities in the stanza, while the Devils had one, but neither team managed to light the lamp.

New Jersey had a chance early on, rushing the net in a 2-on-1. Defenseman Matt Carle elected to cover the pass and Sergei Brylin skated in alone against Nabokov, who made the glove save.

Brodeur matched the effort, but nearly gave away the game's first goal with 3:38 remaining in the stanza. Fortunately for Brodeur, Scott Hannan missed the net and Brian Gionta stepped up to clear the zone.

San Jose eventually scratched the scoreboard, 8:49 into the third period. Thornton scooped up the loose puck in the neutral zone and darted in across the blueline. He avoided defenseman Brad Lukowich and unleashed a blazing slapshot from the middle of the left faceoff circle that beat Brodeur glove- side.

New Jersey had one final opportunity to get on the board, awarded a power play as Patrick Rissmiller was whistled for high-sticking with 1:36 remaining. The Devils swarmed in the offensive zone, but Grier corralled the disc, sending it down the ice and into the empty net.

Game Notes:

Milan Michalek (bruised arm) and Jonathan Cheechoo (leg) both missed the game for San Jose. They are still day-to-day on those injuries...This was the Devils only visit to the Shark Tank this season. The teams last met on November 5, 2003 -- a 3-2 overtime win for Jersey.

what a game by the sharks last night, against an elite team like detroit red wings. after being down by 3 goals in the first period, they scored 9 straight to win the game by 9-4. the first 8 against dominic hasek, one of the best goaltenders in the world (in ice hockey).

If Penguins move, why not to Canada?

By Victor Chi
Mercury News

Link to the original article.

Until the Penguins' future in Pittsburgh is resolved, virtually every news story on the subject will round up the usual suspects of where the franchise might move: Kansas City, Mo.; Las Vegas; Oklahoma City; Houston, etc.

But unless it's Winnipeg, Manitoba -- a long shot -- Canadian cities aren't being mentioned and that's a shame. With so many empty seats in places like Florida, Nashville and Phoenix, the league ought to think hard about establishing another operation in Canada.

We understand the incentive of having Sidney Crosby playing in an American city to help market the game. In a Canadian town, Crosby would be wasted in the opening-new-doors sense because it would be preaching to the hockey converted.

But look at it the other way: Mario Lemieux was the biggest phenom before Crosby, played his entire career in Pittsburgh, beat cancer, won two Cups, and look what it has gotten us.

Maybe some of those hopefuls like Oklahoma City can be just like Dallas and San Jose, with hockey thriving in a non-traditional market.

Maybe Kansas City can be like Denver, getting it right on its second chance to host an NHL franchise.

If you care about hockey, that is the way you have to root for the good of the game.

But shouldn't the NHL be looking for something stronger than maybes?

Some Canadian cities supposedly lack the corporate base to sustain an NHL club. But they don't lack a built-in audience appreciative and savvy about hockey. And wasn't the new collective-bargaining agreement sold to the fans as being a system in which all markets, big and small, can compete on untilted ice?

When Canada won the gold at the world junior championships last week in Sweden, Prime Minister Stephen Harper placed a congratulatory phone call to Coach Craig Hartsburg.

The Americans won the bronze and except for hard-core puckheads, nobody in this country even knew the tournament existed.

It should have been a big deal, considering this was just the fifth medal of any stripe -- one gold, one silver, three bronze -- for TeamUSA in the 34-year history of the world junior tournament.

Meanwhile next Saturday is the annual "Hockey Day in Canada'' triple-header on CBC with Montreal-Ottawa at 11 a.m., Vancouver-Toronto at 4 p.m., and Edmonton-Calgary at 7 p.m.
