Kristine Hermosa Orille is a kapamilya actress. Her father is indigenous Filipino and her mother is a Spanish mestiza. She has an older sister who was originally the one who dragged her to auditions in ABS-CBN. However, her sister failed to impress the judges in the first screening yet reluctant younger sister Kristine was suggested to audition due to her height and beautiful personality. Thought to be just another pretty face teenage actress, Kristine rose to fame in the TV series that catapulted her loveteam partnership with Jericho Rosales who latter became her real-life boyfriend in Pangako Sa'yo.

Years before her fame, Kristine started out as Baron Geisler's loveteam partner in Nagbibinata. Later on, she was casted in Sa Sandaling Kailangan Mo Ako. A weekly drama series together with Marvin Agustin. She garnered critical acclaim performances in this series as she was portraying a role almost more than five years older than her real age.

She was linked to Diether Ocampo until it became a real-life romance during the set of Sana'y Wala ng Wakas. Later, the two got married. The marriage pulled Kristine's fame down due to the fact that Diether, her other half, was given a bad boy imagery by the media. Also, their TV series together with her then real-life boyfriend Til Death Do Us Part was a major flop. In 2005, she was given the role of Luisa in the much-loved classic Gulong ng Palad together with new partner TJ Trinidad where she returned to the limelight after taking a break from acting in a TV series. She recently starred in Wag Kang Lilingon, together with another kapamilya hot property Anne Curtis.

Her latest movie is the sequel of Enteng Kabisote opposite Vic Sotto.

The much loved soap opera of the late 70s, Gulong ng Palad is making a comeback, modernized but the story of true love defying all odds still remains. With a stellar cast led by Kristine Hermosa, TJ Trinidad, Luis Alandy, Cherie Gil and Rio Locsin to only name a few will surely have you riveted to your screens.

The story of Luisa and Carding unfold once more to the delight of the soap抯 old fans and hopefully would capture the interest of new generation teleserye followers. The two star crossed lovers played by Kristine and TJ will bring back the good old days of Gulong ng Palad which was first a radio drama in 1949 then was made into a movie and a TV series in 1977. The classic story line of rich kid love poor girl will surely reach out and touch the hearts of audiences again.

Other artists to look out for are love teams Joross Gamboa, Roxanne Guinoo, Hazel Ann Mendoza, Mhyco Aquino plus sexy villainess Andrea Del Rosario and Nash Aguash reprising the role of the very cute Peping. Intended to run for 20 weeks, catch Gulong ng Palad every night starting this Monday, January 9 only from the station who gives you the country抯 top notch teleseryes ABS-CBN.

The current Gulong ng Palad is a third generation soap which originally saw light on radio in 1949. Written by Lina Flor (Carolina Flores who later became Mrs. Koko Trinidad) who was a radio talent and a Daily Mirror columnist (Sundries), it was a daily 15-minute series on the air over DZRH.

Among the radio talents in the cast then, Loida Viriña -- Lina Flor抯 sister -- who voiced the role of Luisa.

After it ended as a radio serial in 1956, Gulong ng Palad became a popular series in 1977 up to 1984 on Banahaw Broadcasting 2.

This time with Lina Flor having died, Loida Viriña became the soap抯 writer. They took in an established star Marianne de la Riva to play the role of Luisa and Caridad Sanchez to play her mother Idad and new child actor Romnick Sarmenta to be the young boy, Peping.

Established performers made up the rest of the cast: Augusto Victa as the father Tomas, Tita de Villa as Donya Menang while Beth Bautista as Mimi.

It was the network抯 wish to take in a new actor to play the male lead, Carding opposite Marianne de la Riva. I remember that many took part and the auditions stretched to weeks.

My friend Toto Confesor, in between his involvement in Kahirup ball and projects of the Ilonggos, was helping then the brothers Ronald and James Corveau. They brought them for auditions.

A week later, Ronald was asked to report to the set for taping to the excitement of Toto. Gulong ng Palad made him an instant star.

In fact, the soap changed the lives of Marianne and Ronald, the Luisa and Carding of Gulong ng Palad.

After taping one evening, they just got lost. They eloped and got married to the shock of their families卆nd media.

The first Gulong lasted for seven years on DZRH radio. The next Gulong, on TV two decades later, lasted for seven years (1977 to 1984) on BBC2.

Now after almost 22 years, the third generation Gulong ng Palad with ABS-CBN calling the shots, with Loida Viriña being creative consultant.

No one from the old soap has been taken as part of the cast. Moreover, the story has been upgraded and expanded to include other characters. To be in keeping with the times, they point out.
