Macau, China, August 28, 2011 – Serbia celebrated its bronze medal win against world champions Russia in a whopping three-setter in the 2011 FIVB World Grand Prix 2011 in Macau, China.  
In their debut in the World Grand Prix, the Serbian team impressed a lot of teams as well as spectators with the way they played in the competition. The Serbian players were consistently leading the statistical departments especially in scoring and spiking all throughout the competition. Eventually, Jovana Brakocevic and Milena Rasic were awarded with the Best Scorer and Best Spiker awards, respectively.  


Winning these individual awards was not in the minds of their players but instead the main goal of the team was to enter the final eight of the competition.  


“I’m really happy that we won the Bronze medal. For us it was unexpected, the first goal was entering the final eight,” said Brakocevic. “This is a huge step for the team, a huge thing for our confidence.”  


Overall, they are more than satisfied with their performance in the competition and they welcome the challenge to compete against the world’s best teams. Win or lose, they are fulfilled with the results.  


“If we lost today and played well, we will be happy because we played good. This is the first time that we are here and our team is very young and always trying to improve,” said Brakocevic. “Playing good for us is the maximum, winning is like a plus (like a bonus).”
