Dig near Al-Aqsa to continue

JERUSALEM: An Israeli archaeologicaldig near Jerusalem抯 Al-Aqsa mosque will continue, Prime Minister EhudOlmert抯 office said yesterday, despite a freeze on plans to build awalkway to the compound housing the shrine.
The Haaretz newspaper抯website had reported the Jewish Quarter Development Company, agovernment agency, had withdrawn its request for a permit to build apedestrian bridge to the complex known to Muslims as al-Haram al-Sharifand to Jews as Temple Mount.
