kan bagus klu NASA dapat hantar ekspedisi manusia ke Marikh untuk kaji Marikh punya soil. Dan bila ada air(liquid water), da tentu ada kehidupan. tapi tu bergantung jugak, yg air tu berasaskan apa. tapi kat bumi ni dah terbukti yg extreme microorganism (tak silap aku diorang panggil extremophite) boleh hidup di dalam suasana yg extreme seperti air yg terlalu panas (kawasan gunung berapi) dan air yang terlalu sejuk. so klu kita dapat selidik marikh punya soil, dan dpt buktikan adanya kehidupan di marikh (sekurang2 nya microorganism), ni da kira science breakthrough.



Ini didapati daripada batuan di Marikh. Dalam gambar tersebut terdapat kelibat kehidupan microorgnisma dalam bentuk fossil. adakah ini bukti terdapatnya kehidupan di marikh?

More evidence shows Mars once was wet all over

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Minerals in the soil of Mars show it was covered once by lakes, rivers and other bodies of water that could have supported life, U.S. researchers reported on Wednesday.

Last month the Mars Phoenix Lander found ice on the surface of the planet, but it is frozen hard and covered by red dust. Writing in the journal Nature, a team of scientists shows that the ice is left over from warmer, wetter times.

"This is really exciting because we're finding dozens of sites where future missions can land to understand if Mars was ever habitable and if so, to look for signs of past life," said John Mustard of Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island, who worked on the study.

"The minerals present in Mars' ancient crust show a variety of wet environments," Mustard said.

His team used the Compact Reconnaissance Imaging Spectrometer for Mars (CRISM) and other instruments on board NASA's Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter to look at colours in reflected sunlight. This helps determine what minerals are there.

"Water must have been creating minerals at depth to get the signatures we see," Mustard said in a statement.
The clay minerals would have to have been formed at low temperatures, the researchers said.

"What does this mean for habitability? It's very strong," Mustard said. "It wasn't this hot, boiling cauldron. It was a benign, water-rich environment for a long period of time."

The findings fit with the analysis from the Phoenix Mars Lander mission, which, besides ice, found alkaline soil that could have supported life.

"The big surprise from these new results is how pervasive and long-lasting Mars' water was, and how diverse the wet environments were," said Scott Murchie, CRISM's principal investigator at the Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory in Laurel, Maryland.

The clay-like minerals, called phyllosilicates, suggest water interacted with rocks dating back to what is called the Noachian period on Mars, about 4.6 billion to 3.8 billion years ago.

"In most locations the rocks are lightly altered by liquid water, but in a few locations they have been so altered that a great deal of water must have flushed though the rocks and soil," Mustard said.

Another study, published in Nature Geosciences, found that the wet conditions persisted for a long time. It found evidence of river channels forming a delta where the river emptied into a crater lake.

"The distribution of clays inside the ancient lakebed shows that standing water must have persisted for thousands of years," said Brown University's Bethany Ehlmann.

"Clays are wonderful at trapping and preserving organic matter, so if life ever existed in this region, there's a chance of its chemistry being preserved in the delta."

NASA: Marikh disahkan mempunyai air !!



Pada 31 Julai 2008 yang lepas, saintis NASA telah mengumumkan penemuan bukti air yang kukuh hasil kajian lanjut ke atas ais di Planet Marikh melalui prob angkasa Pheonix Mars Lander.

Menurut William Boynton, ketua saintis Thermal and Evolved-Gas Analyzer instrument untuk prob angkasa Phoenix, sebelum ini, mereka telah pun menemui bukti mengenai kewujudan ais di Marikh melalui pemerhatian oleh Mars Odyssey orbiter.

Namun, penemuan ini tetap menjadi titik bersejarah kerana ini merupakan kali pertama prob angkasa Pheonix 'menyentuh dan merasai' air tersebut. Penemuan hebat ini juga telah membuatkan tempoh misi Pheonix Mars Lander dilanjutkan selama 5 minggu lagi bagi membuat kajian lebih dalam ke atas air di Marikh sekaligus membuat kesimpulan sama ada Marikh mampu menampung kehidupan atau sebaliknya.

Kehidupan di Marikh..

Penemuan ini juga telah membangkitkan persoalan utama iaitu, dengan kewujudan air, adakah mungkin sebarang kehidupan di Marikh walaupun hanya hidupan primitif seperti mikroorganisma ?

Pada bulan Mac yang lalu, Pheonix telah mendarat di atas lapisan ais di Marikh dan telah melakukan eksperimen ke atas sampel ais (di dalam tanah) tersebut. Sampel ais tersebut telah cair dan meruap. Ini menunjukkan kewujudan positif kehadiran air di Marikh.

Pada Jun yang lepas, saintis Marikh juga telah mengenal pasti tanah di Marikh dikatakan lebih bersifat 'alkali' daripada dijangkakan. Selain itu, mereka juga mengesan kewujudan magnesium, sodium, potassium dan beberapa elemen yang lain.

Mereka merumuskan penemuan elemen-elemen pada tanah di Marikh sebagai satu langkah positif untuk mengenal pasti kesesuaian Marikh untuk menampung sebarang kehidupan.

Mungkin di masa akan datang dengan penemuan air di Marikh, mereka akan menentukan sama ada Marikh mampu menampung kehidupan atau menjumpai sebarang kehidupan di sana meskipun dalam bentuk seprimitif mikroorganisma sekalipun.

disahkan mmpnyai DAHULU, bukan SEKARANG. bila baca laporan oleh saintis jgn cepat teruja. saintis ialah manusia yg sentiasa menceritakan sesuatu seolah benda itu wujud didepan mata ,padahal benda itu telah berlalu sejuta tahun dahulu atau akan berlaku sejuta tahun akan datang.
