SG for the unforeesen future may increased F-15SG for stopgap measure while relying on F-35 Lightning for stealth squadrons.
I doubted SG will acquire F-22 by 2010 - 2020 period, as RSAF pilot integration into new combat platform such as F-15 & F-35 had yet to take hold within RSAF.
The export variant F-22s are most possibly offered to Japan, who already license built F-15 & obviously Israel. The stripped down, dumbed-version of the F-22s may been offered to these two countries without key technologies that the Raptor under USAF possessed.
As such, F-35 is more logical investment that the pricey export Raptor.
But hey, with enough funds, SG may want to acquire these warbirds by 2020s. By that time, well, MY has always the other option, the PAKFA. |

Kita tak byk bajet utk memiliki walau 1 skuadron MRCA 'stealth' drp USA drp F-35 atau F-22 sekalipun.
kalau kita mampu pun, cuma PAKFA je. OK lah drp takde apa2. |

betul.. bak kate org tua2.. takde rotan akar pon jadilah... tp walaupon seandainya ekonomi kite pulih dlm 2/3 thn akan datang.. wa lebih prefer kite amik pak-fa daripada f-35, walaupon kita ada masalah dlm maintenance burung2 rusia ni tapi wa rasa depa bleh fikirkan kaedah terbaik untuk atasi masalah tu.. setidak2nya kita ada kuasa imbangan dan sokongan dari rusia jika berlaku sesuatu walaupon rusia ekonomi tgh drop gak skang nie.. tp lihat apa yg jadi berlaku antara iran dan rusia disebabkan usa nak letak peluru berpandu kat eropah timur, iran juga yg dpt keuntungan sebab jalinkan kerjasama dgn rusia dlm jangkamasa panjang..

Unless there is a perceptible threat to Sg`s military aerial superiority in the region, the anticipated usage of 50-80 F15SG will do together with the 100 F35s. We wont be throwing away the F15s so fast. F22s will definitely come into Sg`s inventory. And the USAF wants a F22 replacement by 2035. Post 2020 looks great. Especially if the Pak-Fa comes to the region. But that would be unlikely to impossible in this decade or probably 1st half of next decade....
"Dumb-Down" version is misleading. By 2020, most of the tech that you see in the F22 wont be that new to the US but still more advanced than the rest of the world. It is likely that they will release the latter to close allies. Secondly, countries like Israel and Singapore would opt to add in thier own tech which are on par and better than the original US ones. Examples are the F15SG and F16I.
In spite of what the Russians have been saying to the media, the Pak-Fa will take many years before it is ready for production. Unlike the F35s, many key internal systems are just not ready; radar, engines, etc. The Russians talk a lot. But if you recall, the Pak-Fa has faced delays after delays over the years just like most other aircraft programs.
Further, low rate of production for Russia only and then India would mean that it would be ready for exports after 2020-2025.
By the way, Pak-Fa is valued at not less than $100-150 USD million per jet currently and the cost will rise in the future. If you cannot afford the cost now, you wont in the future. |
