THE OPUS

Zaha Hadid has unveiled a dramatic proposal for the Business Bay areaof Dubai. The masterplan had called for two towers but Zaha抯 looseinterpretation takes the form of a huge sculptured cube. During thepress conference it was apparent that client Omniyat Properties hadasked Zaha to design the interior of another project but she hadrefused as she couldn抰 do it her way. Even the conference itself washeld in London to accommodate the glamorous architect, with many of thepress flying in from Dubai to attend the launch.

The Opus project will be fringed by the Burj Dubai development. it willbe neighbours with the Dubai International Financial Centre and theWorld Trade and Convention Centre, giving it a presitgious locationwith excellent access to the city. The Opus will appear to hover fromthe ground. Constructed of three separate towers the building willappear as a singlular unified whole, with a distinctive void. Theinteriors of which will be clad with a fully engineered curved classcurtain wall to allow for eye-catching views into the void. Reflexivefritting patterns in the form of pixilated striations will be appliedonto the glass facade to provide a degree of reflectivity andmateriality to the cube while assisting in the reduction of solargrains inside the building. Within the Opus there will be a retailpodium across the ground, first and second floor. The uppermost floorwill feature a tranquility zone, a beach deck with a reflective pooland shaded roof terrace, a media zone and a gym. The building boasts anAAA-class rating and has 87 per cent space efficiency. The project willbe launched at Citiscape property exhibition in Dubai in October 2007.

Uih...kalo kek cair aku blh terima lg, tp kalo bangunan nmpak cair jer haram ler aku nak masuk... watnya terus...........................

dalam interpretation Zaha Hadid, maksud bangunan mencair tu sbb dia nak buat nampak mcm cube..ice cube la kot. pastu dia pun design dinding bangunan tu buat daripada glass structure so that nampak reflective.
itu yg nampak mcm air. air kan reflective...
pastu lak instead of buat bangunan tu straight dia buat ada curvature sket utk lagi menampakkan ciri2 ke'air'an dia tuh.

macam2 idea derang nie
kt dubai memang banyak benda2 yg kite anggap mustahil tp buleh pulak di buat..
hotel al-burj, pulau palm derang tu..mcm2 idea..huhu
