philisophically, NATIONALISM would be defined as:

(1) the attitude that the members of a nation have when they care about their identity as members of that nation and
(2) the actions that the members of a nation take in seeking to achieve (or sustain) some form of political sovereignty.

Nationalism believes the country to be the focus of loyalty hence deep affection to' one's country is a basis. Nationalism attaches more importance to the country than to belief, religion and God.

A nationalist confines his vision to national interests, and believes in the limitation of others. He has two criteria, one for himself and his compatriots, and another for foreigners, and his treatment also takes two forms. He does not give those outside his nation the right to benefit from similar privileges.

Nationalism aims at having man given the greatest share of his loyalty and affection to the country, and to even subordinate the loyalty to God to the love of the nation. This in itself is a kind of polytheism. Praise is only due to God and when given to anything else, it is idolatry, and a following of satan's line:

Nationalism believes nationalistic sentiments to be genuine when it is not disturbed by any other factors (apparently God and religion)
To nationalism, what matters the most is national interests, whether from an individual or social point of view.Sovereignty belongs to the nation and the criterion is national interests.

Nationalism believes that the factor behind nationality and unity is the co-existence in the same land of individuals comprising a special group. A common natural and geographical environment, community or race, language, history or political organization establishes the bond between individuals who feel bound in common as far as their interests go. That is where a distinction is marked between themselves and the foreigners.

In the school of nationalism, all are brothers and equals, whether they are believers or infidels, pious or evil-doers. Nationalism considers all people in a country as compatriots and those of other nations even if they are Muslims as foreigners.

there is a fine line in between, but in general sense its the same,
a deep affection for one country of birth or adopted, the willingness to fight with all ur might for the
sake of that

Nationalism to me means one thing.........self determination........an effective ideology used against imperialism or colonialism.

Prasangka...bila tidak boleh bekerjasama kerana memikirkan
pihak lain itu ingin mengguna demi kepentingan...tindak-tanduk
seseorang itu berlandaskan keuntungan dia sahaja...

sudah didoktrin pemikiran tersebut hingga agak sukar utk mengubah
keadaan yg negatif sedia ada ni...wujud pesepsi melampau juga...
contoh mudah...tak boleh pakai chopstick,nanti ikut bangsa tu...
tak boleh berbaju kurung, nanti masuk agama itu...
jgn kawan bangsa itu, cakap berbelit macam ular...common scenario?

boleh tak sapa2 tolong terangkan pada saya apakah erti nationalism? adakah ideologi nasionalism masih boleh digunapakai untuk zaman kini? bagaimana dgn indonesia? adakah mereka mengamalkan nationalism sejati? terima kasih.

To me nationalism is plain simple - love, heart-filled, devotion towards his or her country of birth and for me, skarang, mahupun sampai bila2, the idea of being a nationalism can still be used for those yang forever will love their own country.

And question pasal Indonesia - try asking their citizens; I'm sure they love their country. What makes u tanye about Indonesia? Sebab banyak Indonesians datang ke Malaysia and work and stay here?
