BEIJING - China is forcing nomadic Tibetan herders to settle in towns to clear land for development, leaving many unable to earn a living, a human rights group said in a report issued Sunday.
Herders have been forced to slaughter herds of yaks, sheep and goats and Communist officials have paid minimal compensation and failed to protect Tibetans' legal rights, Human Rights Watch said. It said tens of thousands, and possibly hundreds of thousands, of people have been affected.

Chinese authorities explained the changes as a response to overgrazing by Tibetan herds that was causing soil erosion, Human Rights Watch said.

The resettlements began in 2000 and have taken place more intensively since 2003, Human Rights Watch said.
"Many Tibetan agricultural communities have had their land confiscated, with minimal compensation, or have been evicted to make way for mining, infrastructure projects or urban development," the report said.

Stupid Communists are marching into Tibet and continue to do whatever they want. They threw out the Dalai Llama back in 1960s and continued to do whatever they like. They tried to control Taiwan, but Taiwan have International Connection, and pressure from UN had pushed China away, allowing Taiwan to rule on it's own. Same thing MUST be done and soon for Tibet as well.

The land HAVE beneficts, or China couldn't be bothered to build a new railroad into the Himalayan country.

And Yes, something must be done for Tibet and soon. China already started to send it's people into Tibet, overriding the local people, stealing from them their land, resources and opportunities which exist for Tibetans.

Already, China changing the way Tibetans lived for generations with nonsense like the cattle over-grazing the fields. What nonsense is that? What does China, where it's deserts have expanded 3 times it's pervious lenght since 50 years ago knows anything about safeguarding land?

CANBERRA (Reuters) - The Dalai Lama warned major nations on Tuesday not to try to contain China's economic and military rise, and urged countries like Australia to use their trading clout to pressure Beijing on human rights.
The exiled Tibetan spiritual leader, speaking in Canberra, said he shared concerns about growing strategic and trade ties between the United States, India, Japan and Australia, which Beijing has interpreted as moves towards encirclement.

"It is absolutely wrong to isolate China and also contain China. It's wrong, morally also wrong," the Dalai Lama told the Australian National Press Club

The Dalai Lama admitted China's fast-growing world influence was hampering his access to some world leaders to press demands for greater autonomy, not independence, for his predominantly Buddhist homeland.

But support for an autonomous Tibet was growing in the United States and some small European nations, he said, although some nations were understandably reluctant to cross China.

I must say ... I'm quite upset with Dalai Llama. He is hampering the strict progress required to kick this Communists out of Tibet by showing them compassion. There are time for compassion and there are time for strictness. This is not the time for compassion when you are dealing with one of the World's biggest human right abusers.

Strict and fast International actions MUST be made to push China out of Tibet and keep them there, like what the U.N did for Taiwan. If Dalai Llama cannot help with that, he shouldn't hamper others who could help.

WASHINGTON - The Pentagon said Wednesday that China is concealing its spending on weapons programs, including technology to disrupt U.S. space efforts. Testifying before a mostly supportive House Armed Services Committee, the deputy undersecretary of defense for Asia said, "What we see is a deliberate effort on the part of China's leaders to mask the nature of Chinese military capabilities."
As a result, Richard P. Lawless said, "the outside world has limited knowledge of the motivations, decision-making and key capabilities of China's military or the direction of its modernization."

Still, Lawless said China's goals are clear.
"We are seeing China emerge as a growing international space power" while rapidly developing its armed forces to compel Taiwan to bend to its demands, he said.

While China's long-range power remains limited, Lawless said China was modernizing its nuclear force to be capable of strategic strikes beyond the Asia-Pacific region.

In addition, Lawless said China was using proceeds from its growing wealth and gains from trade with the United States to develop anti-satellite weapons, ground-based lasers and satellite communication jammers.

There is a possibility that someday, China's Communists could once again march into South East Asia like what they did back in the 1970s.

We have to remember, the Communist Party in Malaysia lost NOT because Malaysia Government was strong at that time, but because they were weak and lack of resources. Without enough weapons and equipment, this Communist enemies couldn't override the Government in many of the Asia region and lost.  However, if this keep on, China will become stronger than anyone could imagine and EVER NATION in South East Asia will be endanger of being overrun by them.

In my opinion, countries like Malaysia better stop contributing to them economically, because every cent you give today will be used to buy a bullet which will be used to shoot you in the future. :hmm:
