YOU ARE WHAT YOU'VE MADE OF......

Frankly, if you ask me, we are nothing. A dead body consists of 85% water or fluid and 15% solid (calcium may be carbon). Something eh!
If you are asking a philosophical question, that is something else. We can discuss it till the bitter end. Adios Amigo! Compadre! |

True-X..........do you mean....YOU ARE WHAT YOU'RE MADE OF......? This is the usual phrase people use unless you are saying something else. It is also quite different from.....YOU ARE WHAT YOU'VE MADE OF yourself...?
The earlier phrase suggests something more intrinsic whilst the latter the person as expressed in your daily actions and so 0n.

Physically, you are made of, of course the various atoms and material to make up your bones, hair, flesh, blood and so on. Another aspect is more spiritual perhaps........it refers to one's inner ability to withstand sorrow, sufferings and the likes.....hence the addage" you are made of sterner stuff". |

Depends on the context of the question.
Physically, mentally, emotionally or spiritually.
Mostly people use it in the context of mental, emotional, spiritual. |

~cogito ergo sum by Descartes
"I think therefore I am"
in this phrase, he implies that he is for whatever he is thinking and for all his ideas in his head, despite the saying of 'action is louder than words'
so do we have to think and do, thus that makes us?
OR
if we could only think and be the superbrain without actually be a force of anything physical? |

"I think therefore I am" ... an interesting quote ...
In Neon Genesis Evangelion (anime), the main character was having internal battles identifying his "self".
What is "self"? (questions posed to himself)
1. the one I think who I am (conscious "me")
2. the one other people think who I am ... (the "person" shaped by people's definition)
3. the one neither my-conscious-self nor other people knew..(unconscious "inner" me)
coincidently, the author of the anime was having "mental problems" when he wrote the series ..
and in the anime, the main character was desperately defending "himself" while being interrogated
by "his other self", was insisting that "he" was the real he when accused of being a fake by other
people in his head (the real "us" may not be the same person we present to the world), was in denial
when his ulterior motives were revealed by his inner self (sometimes we make excuses for the decisions
we make, to justify ourselves that the decisions were correct or to protect ourselves from our insecurities etc)
This led me to :

In psychodynamics, the Id, Ego, and Super-Ego are the divisions of the psyche according to psychoanalyst Sigmund Freud's "structural theory." In his 1923 work The Ego and the Id, Freud introduced new terms to describe the division between the conscious and unconscious: 'id,' 'ego,' and 'super-ego.' He thought these terms offered a more compelling description of the dynamic relations between the conscious and the unconscious. The 搃d |

"Weaving A Story"
Neon Genesis Evangelion Episode 14
"Mountains ..
heavy are the mountains, things that change over time ..
Sky ..blue sky ..
things that you cannot see with your eyes ..
things that can see with your eyes ..
Sun .. there is only one ..
Water ..comforting ..Commander Ikari? [=comforting]
Flowers .. fields of flowers ...
too many of the same thing ..
too many of useless thing .. [*A]
Sky ..red, red sky ..
Red is a colour, a colour that I hate ..
Flowing water .. blood?
The smell of blood ..
A woman who never bleeds ..
A man created from the red earth/soil ..
A man created from both man and woman ..
Town .. a human creation ..
Eva ..a human creation as well ..
What is human? A creation of God?
or a creation of human themselves?
The things I possess, my life and soul ..
I am a vessel for my heart ..
Entry-Plug, a throne for the heart ..
Who is this?
This is me.
Who is "me"?
What is "me"?
What is "me"?
What is "me"?
I am "me", I am myself.
This, that is which, is myself ..
That which is formed, is me .. [=physical body]
This is the me that can be seen ..
yet it feels as if this is not myself ..
a strange feeling ..
I feel as if my body is melting ..
I can no longer see myself ..
my shape is fading ..
I feel the presence of someone who is not me ..
Who is there? beyond me here? "
- Ayanami Rei (Eva02 pilot)
[*A] too many useless things ..
[= quantity lessens a value of something,
in which, she questioned her value of being one of the many mils of human]
mansairaku:
like the part where Rei associates water = comforting,
but it goes back into a circle, flowing water = blood,
blood = red = a colour she hates,
contradicting, paradox? (is this the correct word?) |
