17/12/2007 21:23 Milan Must Do Better In Italy, Inter In Europe - Sacchi
Former Milan and Italy coach Arrigo Sacchi spoke about next week's Milan derby, and thinks his old team need to improve their performances on home soil, while Inter have to get further in European competitions.
The long week that leads to the derby of Milan has begun again. The two Milanese teams have already sent two strong signals, AC Milan of course by winning the Club World Cup in Tokyo, and Inter by increasing their lead on top of the Serie A table to 7 points.
It looks set to be a very intriguing clash between two sides whose morale could hardly be any better. Legendary former Milan coach Arrigo Sacchi talked about the "Derby della Madonnina" on an Italian TV program.
"I hope it will be a nice match and that there is mutual respect on the stands," the former Italian national coach said.
Sacchi also urged the two teams to improve their performances in competitions where they haven't been doing too well recently.
"Milan have to show they can also win in Italy, while Inter must do something more in Europe," he continued. "The Rossoneri rarely fail to reach their objective, but these results will have more value if Milan are more competitive in Italy, where Inter, who until now have always struggled on the international stage, have been a war machine without limits in the past year and a half."
