K.jel, sabtu ni free tak? Nak p nuntut ilmu dgn k.jel lah...... Dah cuba buat soklan yg 4 set tu tapi byk yg blur2..... Keciwa lah...... Cemana nak exam nanti.... |

12-12-2007: Asian markets slide at midday

Asian markets skidded in the morning session on Dec 12, with Hong Kong抯 market the worst hit, sliding 2.3%, in a knee-jerk reaction to disappointment that the US Federal Reserve抯 decision to cut interest rates by only 25 basis points.
At 12.30pm, the Kuala Lumpur Composite Index was down 14.02 points to 1,420.14, the FBM Emas fell 88.17 points to 9,600.87 and the FBM Second Board lost 56.72 points to 6,681.36. The KLCI futures fell 13 points to 1,422.
Turnover was 330.38 million shares valued at RM657 million. Losers thumped gainers nearly six to one. There were 116 gainers, 593 losers while 219 counters were unchanged.
Among the Asian markets, Hong Kong抯 Hang Seng Index fell 676.52 points or 2.31% to 288,550.32 and Shanghai抯 A Share Index 2.03% lower at 5,320.42. South Korea抯 KOSPI lost 1.18% to 1,902.41, Singapore抯 Straits Times Index 1.44% lower at 3,537.46 and Japan抯 Nikkei 225 declined 1.57% to 15,792.40.
Light crude oil price was trading at US$89.45 per barrel for January delivery.
The ringgit was quoted at RM3.3245 to the US dollar.
Crude palm oil fell RM7 to RM2,867 per tonne for January delivery.
Analysts said the markets were disappointed with the modest cut in US interest rates as they were expecting 50 basis points cut. They expect market sentiment to remain negative in the afternoon session.
Among the heavyweights, Telekom and Sime Darby fell 20 sen each to RM11.50 and RM11.20 respectively while Maybank lost 10 sen to RM11.70 while Tenaga was unchanged at RM9.75.
Nestle was the top loser, down 50 sen to RM25.25. Bursa fell 40 sen to RM15.30 and the stock market operator was reported to have said that the Chicago Mercantile Exchange was not seeking to buy a stake in Bursa.
Petronas Gas lost 30 sen to RM10.70, AMMB-OR 20.5 sen to 35.5 sen, Petronas Dagangan and IOI Properties 20 sen lower to RM8.50 and RM13.20.
However, it was not all gloomy with Aeon Credit surging 74 sen to RM3.24 in active trade on debut.
Jobstreet, which provides online recruitment, jumped 25 sen to RM2.50, Berjaya Land added 25 sen to RM5.55 and the loan stocks LB 15 sen higher to RM5.45. Tanjong抯 which posted a 14.8% increase in its third quarter earnings at RM175 million rose 10 sen to RM18. |
