chinese voters:
LGE factor, they are happy with his administration, and an almost non-existence of campaigning by MCA/Gerakan compared to DAP/PR's efforts
indian voters:
same factors b4 PRU and even after PRU the present government still doing nothing to address the issues like neglected by mic/umno, poverty, hindraf episode, hindu temple etc.
malay voters:
the sodomy and swearing by the quran issues almost working among the pas supporters and the fence-sitters, but the worries died down after big guns from pas like nik aziz and harun din get involve and campaigning on behalf of anwar. and when ramlang porigi decided to come forward and tell his version of story, the worries of negative effect of sodomy and swearing issues are now effectively over.
there are around 19,000 umno members in permatang pauh and the fact that pirdaus secured less than that in pru and now ariff garnered lesser votes than pirdaus proved that even umno members refused to vote for their own party and it gets worse. if umno didn't learn any lessons from this, come pru13 they'll be history.
