Piquet dipecat daripada Renault

SAO PAULO - Nelson Piquet Jr. berkata, dia telah dipecat daripadapasukan Renault dan menyalahkan prinsipal pasukan itu, Flavio Briatorekerana kegagalannya menghasilkan keputusan yang baik dalam perlumbaanFormula Satu (F1).
Piquet menegaskan, dia sangat kecewa dengan keputusan Renault itu,namun pada masa yang sama lega kerana telah menamatkan 'tempoh terburukdalam kariernya'.
"Saya boleh pergi dan meletakkan karier saya pada landasan yang betul dan cuba meraih kembali reputasi saya dengan cepat.
''Saya seorang 'pemain' dalam pasukan dan berdozen lagi yangberurusan dengan karier saya, mereka menghargai karakter dan bakatsaya,'' katanya.
Dalam kenyataannya, Piquet berkata, 'tempoh hitam' dalam kariernyabermula apabila dia menandatangani kontrak bersama Briatore, yang'mengancam' dan bukan menyokongnya.
Dia menyifatkan Briatore sebagai 'membunuhnya'.
"Dalam beberapa perlumbaan, 15 minit sebelum sesi kelayakan danperlumbaan, pengurus yang juga bos pasukan saya itu akan mengancam saya.
''Dia memberitahu jika saya gagal mendapat keputusan yang baik, dia mempunyai pelumba lain untuk menggantikan saya.
"Saya tidak perlukan ancaman sebelum menghasilkan keputusan,'' katanya.
Pencapaian terbaik pelumba Brazil itu dalam 28 perlumbaan ialah di tempat kedua pada GP Jerman 2008.
Dia meraih 19 mata dan kedudukan terbaik di petak permulaan ialah di tempat ketujuh.
Piquet Jr, anak kepada juara dunia tiga kali Nelson Piquet, berkata,dia membuat keputusan menandatangani Briatore sebagai pengurusnyakerana ia yakin pengalamannya sebagai prinsipal pasukan adalah yangterbaik yang dapat membantunya beraksi baik dalam F1.
Selepas semusim sebagai pemandu uji Renault, Piquet menjadi pelumbakedua pada 2008 bersama-sama juara dunia dua kali Fernando Alonso.
Piquet berkata, beberapa 'keadaan aneh mula berlaku' dan dia tidak pernah mendapat layanan sama rata.
"Saya disingkir sebagai 'seseorang yang memandu untuk kereta lain', tanpa perhatian langsung.
"Keadaan yang terpaksa saya tangani sejak dua tahun lalu sangataneh. Inilah kejadian yang berlaku dan ia sukar untuk saya terima,''katanya.
Pelumba dari Brazil itu berkata, Briatore membuat kontrak dengannyaberasaskan prestasi yang mana dia dikehendaki meraih 40 mata daripadamata keseluruhan Alonso mulai pertengahan musim 2009.
"Walaupun memandu bersama Fernando (juara dunia dua kali) dia seorang pemandu yang benar-benar cemerlang, saya amat yakin.
''Jika saya dalam keadaan sepertinya, dengan mudah saya dapat meraih40 peratus mata yang dikehendaki sebagai mana yang disyaratkan dalamkontrak,'' katanya.
Piquet belum mengutip sebarang mata selepas 10 perlumbaan musim ini manakala Alonso 13 mata.
Piquet berkata, dia juga tidak dibenarkan mengadakan ujian lebihkerap seperti mana Alonso, dan kereta rakan sepasukannya dari Sepanyoldipertingkatkan dalam empat daripada sembilan perlumbaan pertama tahunini.
"Saya dimaklumkan oleh jurutera di Renault bahawa kereta yang sayapandu lebih perlahan antara 0.5 dan 0.8 saat berbanding kereta rakansepasukan saya,'' kata Piquet Jr.:@
Dia berkata sudah menimbangkan pilihannya untuk 'permulaan baru' dalam karier F1.

PARIS(AFP) — Renault on Monday won their appeal against a ban onFernando Alonso's team competing in the European Grand Prix in Valenciaon Sunday.

Renault were originally handed a one-race suspension,ruling Alonso out of his home race, by the International MotorsportsFederation (FIA) after a wheel flew off the former champion's car atthe Hungarian Grand Prix.
But they were given the green light to compete in Valencia by the FIA after Monday's appeal hearing in Paris.
TheFIA however has instead fined Flavio Briatore's outfit 30,000 pounds(50,000 dollars) for a breach of security regulations following theincident to pole-sitter Alonso's car.

In Budapest Alonso was in the lead before his pit-stop when the right front wheel was not fitted properly.
It became loose and flew off, fortunately not striking anybody before ending up resting against crash barriers.
TheFIA race stewards summoned Renault officials to explain why the formerdouble champion's right front right wheel was incorrectly fitted andwhy his team "knowingly" allowed him to leave the pits with a loosewheel nut.
Renault team manager Steve Nielsen had said he was confident the team's suspension would be lifted.
"I've been optimistic since we got the penalty. We feel it's unjust," he said.
TheFIA, confirming the decision, announced in a statement: "Renaultadmitted to the court that it breached the sporting regulations, inthat it failed to ensure that car number 7 complied with the conditionsfor safety throughout practice and the race, and that it released thecar after a pitstop when it was unsafe to do so.
"However, it requested the court to reconsider the severity of the sanction imposed by the stewards.
"Having heard the arguments of the parties, the court has decided as follows:
"1.to allow the appeal and overturn the sanction imposed by the stewardsin the contested decision; 2. to issue a reprimand and impose a fine of50,000 dollars upon Renault."
Jorge Martinez, the vice-president of European Grand Prix organisers Valmor Sports, welcomed the decision.
"Alonso'spresence is excellent news for the race. It is especially a plus forSpanish fans. It would not make sense to hold a race in Spain withoutthe flag carrier of Spanish motor racing," he told reporters in Spain.
Alonsowill have a new teammate on Sunday with Renault test driver RomainGrosjean expected to take the seat of Nelson Piquet Jr, who was sackedafter failing to pick up any points this year.
Alonso himself ison 13 points in the driver's standings with Renault on the same numberof points in seventh in the race for the constructors' title.

10 facts about Romain Grosjean

Romain Grosjean will turn his back on the GP2 Series this weekend and make the step up to Formula 1 as the replacement for Nelson Piquet.

He has long been singled out as the favourite to be given his chance by Renault, even though his season in GP2 has witnessed the highs of two victories and the lows of some pretty spectacular accidents.

Renault is convinced that Grosjean has what it takes to be a success, however, and that is why it has chosen him to become F1's third rookie in 2009.

Here are 10 facts about Grosjean.

• Romain Grosjean was born in Geneva, Switzerland on April 17, 1986 - to a Swiss father and French mother.

• Although Grosjean has dual Swiss-French nationality, he competes under a French racing licence.

• Grosjean's racing career started at the quite late age of 14, when be took up karting. His first single-seater experience was in Formula Renault 1600 in 2003 - when he became Swiss champion with 10 wins from 10 races.

• The Frenchman's subsequent racing titles include the 2005 French Formula Renault, the 2007 F3 Euro Series and the 2008 GP2 Asia Series crowns.

• Grosjean has been part of the Renault family since 2006 when he was signed up for the French car manufacturer's driver development programme.

• On the back of his promising results in junior categories, Grosjean was made a Renault test driver in 2008 - as replacement for Nelson Piquet who had secured a race seat.

• Grosjean's first proper Formula 1 test was at Barcelona on June 12, 2008, when he completed 60 laps in a Renault R28.

• The decision to move Grosjean up to F1 comes after mixed fortunes in GP2 this year. He has won two races, but also walked away from a sizeable accident at the Monaco Grand Prix – where he tore a 30cm hole in the side of the tub.

• His promotion to a race seat with Renault means that the GP2 Series will keep its tally of having seven drivers in the F1 field as former competitors.
