Aaron's just in time!

Aaron Lennon's last-gasp strike against Birmingham made it four wins in four in the Barclays Premier League on Saturday.

Only seconds remained when Stephen Carr lost possession to Tom Huddlestone on the half-way line, allowing Roman Pavlyuchenko to cross and Lennon to cut inside two defenders, compose himself and fire low into the corner.

The timing of the goal might have been harsh on the Blues but victory was no less than we deserved after creating chance after chance, only to see the visitors equalise within minutes of us finally taking the lead.

That equaliser looked to have deflated everyone inside White Hart Lane but thankfully Lennon was there to maintain our 100 per cent winning start to the season.

Harry Redknapp made seven changes to the side that beat Doncaster in midweek with Ledley King, Benoit Assou-Ekotto, Lennon, Wilson Palacios, Luka Modric, Robbie Keane and Jermain Defoe all back.

Birmingham set up in a 4-5-1 formation but looked to have attacking intent in the opening exchanges as James McFadden and Sebastien Larsson tried to get up to support Garry O'Connor.

However, the five-man midfield was soon pushed back by wave after wave of attack and the second half of the period was like a chess game as we looked to find a way through.

The opening exchanges were frantic and Joe Hart was in action after seven minutes, palming out Lennon's low drive from Luka Modric's cross. Jermain Defoe then almost got a toe to Huddlestone's cross-shot before accidently getting in the way of Robbie Keane's volley.

The threat came from both flanks and Lennon was central to the next action. First, a shot on 18 minutes that forced a routine save from Hart, then he was on the end of Modric's cross and fired past Hart only to see the returning Spurs Stephen Carr to hack off the line.

City, who had seen O'Connor and Larsson have tame efforts at goal, then drew a gasp from the crowd as Larsson got goalside of Sebastien Bassong and fired inches wide.

That only prompted another Spurs attack and our best chance yet as Huddlestone picked out Defoe's run centrally and sent the striker clean through - unusually, he didn't get hold of his effort and dragged it wide.

That chance was on 23 minutes and appeared to prompt the visitors into dropping slightly deeper, so although we dictated possession, chances were few and far between, the best when Modric curled just wide from the edge of the box.

Harry was forced into a change at half-time as King left the action with a groin injury to be replaced by Alan Hutton, Vedran Corluka switching to centre-back.

Lee Carsley headed wide City's best chance two minutes into the half and then another injury blow as Modric went over awkwardly from Lee Bowyer's challenge and limped off. Peter Crouch came on for Modric and went up front alongside Defoe, Keane pushed out wide left.

After a scare when McFadden went over in the box on 57 minutes we put together a spell of pressure that eventually led to the opening goal.

Crouch's header was tipped around the post by Hart, Franck Queudrue headed to safety when Crouch looked to have presented Keane with an open goal, Defoe volleyed just over, Crouch headed against the crossbar and then held his head in disbelief as Carsley nodded another header off the line.

Crouch was the target again from Lennon's excellent cross and this time his headed struck Stuart Parnaby on the back of the head, the defender didn't look like he knew too much about it.

It was eventually fourth-time lucky for Crouch as the England forward rose majestically at the far post to meet Huddlestone's free-kick and loop a header over Hart and into the far post. Mayhem at the Lane, 72 minutes on the clock.

But the joy didn't last long - in fact, just three minutes. O'Connor crossed from the right corner of the penalty area, Hutton, Carlo Cudicini and Christian Benitez went in for it together, the ball squirmed out to Bowyer who had the easiest of tap-ins.

That goal hit hard and Birmingham created the next chance, O'Connor dragging a good chance wide from six yards.

It looked like what would have been a disappointing draw until Lennon drilled home the winner in the fourth minute of injury time.

Spurs: Cudicini; Corluka, Bassong, King (Hutton, 46), Assou-Ekotto; Lennon, Huddlestone, Palacios, Modric (Crouch, 50); Keane, Defoe (Pavlyuchenko, 80). Unused subs: Button, Naughton, Bentley, Giovani.

Birmingham City: Hart; Parnaby, Johnson, Queudrue, Carr; Larsson (McSheffrey, 92), Bowyer, Carsley (Benitez, 74), Ferguson, McFadden; O'Connor. Unused subs: Taylor (GK), Phillips, Espinoza, O'Shea.

Attendance: 35,318

Herry nak beli Kranjiar utk cover Modrick. Modrick rehat dekat 1.5 bulan.... tak leh pakai Bentley ka ?

Tottenham Hotspur boss Harry Redknapp is set for more deadline-day action and has turned to Portsmouth's Niko Kranjcar to bolster his squad at White Hart Lane. Redknapp is looking for cover on the left flank following Luka Modric's injury and Jamie O'Hara's loan to Portsmouth, with Kranjcar able to operate across the midfield.

The Spurs manager has also previously worked with Kranjcar at Fratton Park and speaks highly of all the Croatia internationals he has managed.

"Modric is a great lad and so is the other boy, (Vedran) Corluka," Redknapp said. "I have found all the Croatia boys are like that, of the same type. They are lovely characters. Slaven Bilic and Igor Stimac were the same, Niko Kranjcar the same, as was Robert Prosinecki, who was an incredible player."

Redknapp was in the market for a defensive midfielder earlier in the summer when he looked at Patrick Vieira, although he is also a fan of Vieira's Inter Milan team-mate Sulley Muntari after working with him at Portsmouth.

Kranjcar reveals Everton snub

New Tottenham signing Niko Kranjcar claims he turned down a move to Everton to be re-united with former manager Harry Redknapp.

The Croatia midfielder made a transfer deadline day from Portsmouth to team up with Redknapp and ex-Pompey team-mates Jermain Defoe and Peter Crouch and compatriots Luka Modric and Vedran Corluka.

Asked whether Everton had bid for him, the 25-year-old reportedly told Croatian newspaper Jutarnji List: "This is true.

"Everton is also a big club but, in the end, the tradition and greatness of Tottenham made the difference.

"I also knew manager Harry Redknapp, and Luka Modric and Vedran Corluka told me great things about the club."

Kranjcar has signed a four-year deal at White Hart Lane for a fee in the region of £2.5million.

Initially he will probably replace playmaker Modric, who is likely to be out for two months with a broken leg, but can operate anywhere in midfield.

Kranjcar admitted the chance of winning silverware was also significant motivation in moving to White Hart Lane, coupled with major changes at Pompey which had seen a number of players leave prior to the takeover by Sulaiman Al Fahim's takeover.

"Now I will play for a club with big ambitions - ambitions which are similar to mine," he added.

"I want to fight for trophies and I'm sure that at Tottenham I will get this chance, which I didn't at Portsmouth.

"So for me this is a big step ahead in my career. If everything at Fratton Park would stay the same as before, I wouldn't push so much for the move.

"But the ambitions were gone, the president wasn't able to give so much money as before, players are leaving the club.

"I just didn't want to stay in such a club."

Redknapp was delighted to be able to bring Kranjcar to the club.

"I know him from working with him and it is terrific to have him," he said.

"I've got two Croatians here who are fantastic professionals.

"Niko is a terrific footballer, a real Tottenham-type player. He'll do well here.

"He was in the last year of his contract and it was a decent deal for him, so both clubs are happy."
