Molde holding out for Solskjaer

FC Molde is stepping up its effort to land Manchester United reserve team coach Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as their new manager.

The Daily Mail points to reports in Norway which indicate that the club have made a fresh approach for Solskjaer.

Molde, the club the Norwegian began his playing career at before making his name at Old Trafford, are adamant that they will get their man despite being rejeted by Solskjaer once already.

The Norwegian season is about to end and Molde remain hopeful they can agree a deal with Solskjaer before the new season begins in March.

The 37-year-old remains a fan favourite among United's faithful and he previously rejected Molde's offer of a job based on his desire to stay at Old Trafford under Sir Alex Ferguson's guidance.

Sir Alex Ferguson has hinted there may be a mental explanation for the latest setback in Owen Hargreaves' injury-ravaged career.

Handed a surprise start in the 2-1 win over Wolves at Old Trafford, the 29-year-old lasted just five minutes before signalling he could not continue.

Hargreaves was clearly troubled by his left hamstring and made his way dejectedly down the tunnel for treatment after giving way to Bebe.

Ferguson conceded a lack of match practice may have been an issue for a player who has completed just 45 minutes of reserve-team football and a first-team outing that lasted less than 60 seconds since his previous game of any significance at Chelsea in September 2008.

However, after United's medical staff had given Hargreaves the all-clear to feature, the Red Devils chief feels fear may have played a part.

"It is possibly because of a lack of match fitness," Ferguson told Key103. "Maybe a bit of anxiety at playing his first game had a bit to do with it too."
