The Republic of Iceland  (Icelandic: Ísland or Lýðveldið Ísland (names of Iceland); IPA: [url=http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WikipediaPA][ˈislant][/url]) is a European island country located in the North Atlantic Ocean.[2] It has a population of about 320,000 and a total area of 103,000 km².[3] Its capital and largest city is Reykjavík, whose surrounding area is home to some two-thirds of the national population. According to Landnámabók, the settlement of Iceland began in AD 874 when the Norwegian chieftain Ingólfur Arnarson became the first permanent Norwegian settler on the island.[4] Others had visited the island earlier and stayed over winter. Over the next centuries, people of Nordic and Celtic origin settled in Iceland. Until the 20th century, the Icelandic population relied largely on fisheries and agriculture, and was from 1262 to 1918 a part of the Norwegian, and later the Danishmonarchies. In the 20th century, Iceland's economy and welfare systemdeveloped quickly, and in recent decades the nation has implementedfree trade in the European Economic Area,diversifying from fishing to new economic fields in services, financeand various industries. Iceland is a free market economy with low taxescompared with other OECD countries.[5] The country maintains a Nordic welfare system providing universal health care and post-secondary education for its citizens.[6]

Icelandic culture is based on the nation’s Norseheritage and its status as a developed and technologically advancedsociety. The country's cultural heritage includes traditional Icelandic cuisine, the nation’s poetry, and the medieval Icelandic Sagas

betul, sebab tu Lonely Planet memilih Iceland salah satu negara top destination 2010 in term of best value. Malaysia pun masuk tau....

Saya tinggal di ibu negara ini, Reykjavik.

Economy negara, skarang amat teruk. Currency bukannya jatuh separuh tapi lebih dari itu. Nak melawat Iceland, inilah masa yg amat sesuai untuk melawat.

Iceland ada 2 syarikat penerbangan antarabangsa, Icelandair dan juga Iceland Express(kos rendah) Dgn air asia yg kini membuat penerbangan ke UK. lagilah murah untuk ke sini.   Bagi mereka yg tak suka transit lain lain airport.  Icelandair berpusat di Heathrow London airport tapi di terminal lain( harga ticket kadang kandang ada yg rendah, boleh check and book online dari icelandair website)

Time yg bagus untuk membuat lawatan bergantung pada apa yg anda ingin alami.  
Aurora Borealis.. ada musim dia, musim sejuk/bersalji.. ada musim dia. musim hujan dan ribut.. itu kerap, musim panas .. yg pendek dan musim bunga yang hampir tiada.

There are about 21 Malaysian kat sini.  Muslim community pun ada, Masjid pun ada, makanan atau restaurant halal... ermmm. tak tau.

dulu igt nak gi dr UK....last2 tak jadi...
berapa currency sekarang?....

umah2 yg kat salji tu....i think kat sebelah sana cam norway....semua umah color2 camtu

Masih lagi kat sini, kami akan duk sini lama.. mungkin sampai anak anak dah besar/dewasa kot. Kalau ekonomi Iceland bertambah teruk lagi... barulah kemungkin besar akan kami pindah  ke tempat "berhujan emas".

currency sekarang  ini, 1USD is about 126 ISKronur, 100 RM> 3.000++ISK.

Rumah rumah kat sini memang berwarna warni esp rumah lama yg diperbuat dari zink. Kalau naik kapalterbang and lalu Reykjavik boleh nampak atap atap rumah yg berlainan warna.  Perbezaan yg amat ketara dgn airview London city.. he he.

hujan selalu turun tak kira bulan, tapi mungkin kurang  pada bulan Julai atau August.

Autumn, colourful begantung pada tempat.  Tempat yg paling popular untuk menekmati autumn colours ialah di Thingvellir. Kat sini bukan tak ada pokok, ada tapi sikit.  Kabanyakkan pokok adalah jenis renek, rendah dan jenis yg merayap( pokok berries) Pokok yg dari jenis merayap inilah yg mengwarnakan warna kelam lava, dan juga moss.


Gambar ini di ambil pada tahun 2007, the most beautiful autumn yg saya sempat ambik guna digital .  2008 and 2009 punya autumn tak lama sebab angin kuat/ salji melanda dulu.


yg ini pula di ambik di Heiðmörk( a reserved park) close to Reykjavik.

Malaysian driving licence boleh di guna untuk drive di sini.  Driving in Iceland

Kedai makanan kepunyaan Malaysian ada 2. Jenis fast food/take away ( bukan Halal).  Ricky Chan and Food Station.

Aurora Borealis boleh di lihat dengan jelas sekalipada waktu malam yg cerah di lokasi in the Northern hemisphere including Scandinavia, Canada, Northern America, Northern Europe and Siberia dan juga di Southern Hemisphere.  Bulan diantara solstice musim  luruh sehingga solstice musim bunga(September to April) di Northern hemisphere.
