You can watch Chinese movies and dramas. Choose one dialect, say you want to speak in Mandarin, then watch Mandarin movies and listening to those Chinese broadcastings. We have several Chinese radios here in M'sia like 99.8 fm, Ai.fm, My.fm, and etc. They are free of charge.

Kalau nak belajar permulaan, start with frasa2 mudah dolu macam Ni Hao (Hello), Zai Jian (See ya), Hen gaoxing zai jian dao ni (so happy to see you again), etc. Actually you can start to learn on your own if you have a system and you can develop it on your own, very flexible.

Beli satu CD n phrasebook and set anytime a day, half an hour dengar kat satu topic n tiru ajah. benda tu akan masuk dalam kepala you smua in no time. Later, have courage to use it around even if you just have a limited vocab.

Gunakan banyak jenis buku rujukan, not just depending on one source. I belajar sniri jah sbenarnya n pronunciation I pulak hanya berdasarkan I tiru sebutan dalam drama2 dinasti Qing yang slalu dimainkan dalam TV masa zaman2 dolu sblom drama2 dr S'pore n Taiwan masuk sini. I belajar smpai boleh baca tulisan dia, jugak belajar dialek Cina lain mcm Kantonis sb senang, hahaha.

I x g skolah Cina pon, selain drpd rasa jeles kat org2 yg skolah Cina dolu, sb bapak sedara n mak sedara I dolu masuk Chinese school. Anything that we do, we have to be consistent.

Here are the websites for free, you still could use them even if you had joined classes and you can come here discussing with everyone. I would love to see the feedback about Chinese self learning by non-Chinese speakers too and how do you people progress in it. Take your time and browse them slowly.

Laman2 sesawang mengenai negara China n media massa negara China, you also could find them in BM, like this online radio.

2. radio RTM Ai.fm: http://radiotime.com/station/s_55251/RTM_Ai_FM_893.aspx
3. radio 99.8 fm: http://radiotime.com/station/s_14776/Redi_988_FM_998.aspx

Nowadays, it's not like 13 years ago where it is not easy for me to learn Chinese while I'm not going to any SRJK and at that time I started to be sensitive to weird sounds, I'm just 8. I learned Chinese myself for almost 10 years.

I have to overcome feeling shy when I tried to practice the language, facing hardship to find suitable books, and I have to sneak inside my father's office and silently printing stuffs since I didn't get the chance to use the net at home and we have no modern stuffs like printers, etc. Those are among the experience of a self learner, haha...

Since all of you have interests in learning the language, so I think that nothing wrong in helping others although now I kinda have no interest in Chinese anymore since I can already speak and write in it, also I had worked before with Chinese.
