Mercedes confident for Japan

Mercedes is confident of a good showing over the remaining F1 races after its Singapore performance says team boss Ross Brawn.

Although Michael Schumacher crashed out of the Marina Bay event when he drove into the back of Sergio Perez (Sauber-Ferrari) and Nico Rosberg finished just seventh, team boss Ross Brawn believes that the team fared well on a circuit which did not suit their car.

New aerodynamic upgrades to the Mercedes car which were fitted before Singapore should see it be more competitive on the remaining high-speed circuits like Suzuka and Yeongam.

"I don't think we advertised it as a big upgrade, but it was an upgrade. It seemed okay," said Brawn on the Autosport web site. "It may not look as though our relative position has changed, but if you think back to Hungary, which was the last high downforce track, we struggled. So far the numbers look like we have moved forward and I think we will see the benefit in the next couple of races in particular, so it looks okay. We are reasonably happy with it, but it is a very difficult track to assess these things on. When we get to the next couple of tracks it should be better."

MERCEDES GP PETRONAS STRENGTHENS TECHNICAL TEAM
The MERCEDES GP PETRONAS Formula One Team is pleased to announce two new appointments as the team continues to strengthen its technical structure. Geoffrey Willis will join the team as Technology Director on 17 October and Aldo Costa will begin his role as Engineering Director on 1 December.

Aldo and Geoffrey will report to Technical Director Bob Bell. Aldo will be responsible for design and development, and Geoffrey will head the aerodynamics, vehicle dynamics, control systems and simulation functions.

Geoffrey Willis worked at Brackley from 2001 to 2006, and was Technical Director at Red Bull Racing from 2007 to 2009, before taking a consultancy role with Hispania Racing in March 2010.

Aldo Costa previously worked as Technical Director at Ferrari, joining in 1996 after eight years at the Minardi team. Aldo won eight World Championships at Maranello, prior to his departure in May 2011.

Team Principal Ross Brawn said: “I am delighted to announce that Aldo Costa and Geoff Willis will be joining the MERCEDES GP PETRONAS team. Geoff is a highly respected engineer with over twenty years of Formula One experience, and we look forward to his arrival next month. Having worked closely with Aldo for many years, I know that he will bring dedication and championship-winning expertise to the team when he joins in December. Building a winning team is an exciting challenge for us all as we work towards the competitiveness and standards that we aspire to as the Mercedes-Benz works team. With a strong technical structure led by Bob Bell, we are moving ourselves into the best possible position to achieve our ambitions.”

Norbert Haug, Vice-President, Mercedes-Benz Motorsport commented: “Since MERCEDES GP PETRONAS was formed as a new team in early 2010, we have been putting in place the building blocks for success. Our technical organisation was strengthened by the arrival of Bob Bell and, working closely with Ross, he has identified the areas where we can improve still further. Aldo and Geoff will reinforce our technical management and bring the experience required to harness the talents of our people in Brackley; we have also recruited and invested at other levels in order to maximise our competitiveness under the Resource Restriction Agreement. Our goal remains to progress step by step in order to establish ourselves as a front-running team for the long term, in line with the tradition of the Mercedes-Benz Silver Arrows.”

skrg brawn berusaha nak buat semua team teknikal jadi terbaik..

memula dia bawak bob bell,skrg willis dgn costa..

krebiliti dedua org ni agak dipersoalkan sbb dedua tu dibuang oleh team asal..

tp brawn kenal costa..willis plak tak tahu tapi kat HRT sama je..

bukan mcm sam williams..bertahun2 bagi peluang camtu gak prestasi williams..

tp skrg CEO mercedes mcm happy dgn line up skrg..termasuk brawn..

ada harapan stay lagi..contohi la bos redbull tu..bertahun2 menunggu nak menang..skrg berbaloi..nak tambah dua..

Mercedes signs multi-year Puma deal

Mercedes GP has announced that Puma will become an official team partner from the start of 2012, with the well-known clothing company set to design the team’s apparel during a multi-year agreement. As well as creating footwear, teamwear and accessories, the Puma logo will appear on the Brackley squad's upcoming MGP W03.

"Puma has a long and successful heritage in motorsport and, having worked with them previously in Formula 1, I know their technical performance innovations for racewear are amongst the best in the industry, which is of course critical to our racing operation," explained Mercedes GP Team Principal Ross Brawn.

"Puma's global capability to design, develop and distribute licensed products for fans of the Silver Arrows around the world is equally impressive. This is a key partnership for Mercedes GP Petronas, and one we are delighted to have established."
