PCO, PCOS… what is the difference? The differences are more than just the names. PCO or polycystic ovaries is when the cysts appear immature through the ultrasound scan. Meanwhile, polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is a metabolic condition experienced by adult women that makes it difficult for the eggs to fully mature.
If you found the cysts in your ovary to be more than usual without other symptoms, then you might just have PCO. PCO is still considered as a variant of normal ovary conditions. However, if you found yourself to have AMH (anti-mullerian hormone) reading out of your age range with other PCOS symptoms, then you are likely suffering from PCOS.
