As Chinese, communist or not, we still have 'Chinese Brothership' to support each other ...  wherever we live, we are still proud with our culture ...

For your info, Chinese are similar with Minangkabau people  ... 'Dimana bumi dipijak, di situlah langit dijunjung' .. So, we can live every where in this world ....

Malays in Malaysia are 'jaguh kampong' ... they can't live and survive with their effort .. they have no determination like us in all aspect of life, especially in the business ...  For your info, the majority of gold and silver medals won by Malaysia at Asian Games 2010 are contributed by Chinese ...

The majority of Malays still love us because they financially depend with us ... We are pessimistic that Malaysia can be transformed into a developed country if Malays still govern this country ...

Please note that not all news on Indonesia are negative ...  I also like your 'free of media' that make our prime media like 'garbage news producer'' ...

Indonesia has a chance to be one of 5 largest world economic in 2030, but you have to work hard and change your bad mentality ... don't make any mistakes like UMNO did in our country ....

The Indonesian economy has managed to achieve very solid growth after successfully weathering the global financial crisis in 2008. The economy grew at 4.5 percent in 2009 and is likely to reach a growth rate of 6 percent for 2010, with a projected 6.2 percent for 2011.

This kind of performance is making many Indonesians wonder whether their country could soon join the BRIC group of high-performing emerging economies.

International Monetary Fund figures show that over the period 2014–30 the BRICs are expected to grow so fast that their share of the world economy will rise from 19.4 percent to 30.3 percent, exceeding the economies of the United States, the European Union and Japan.

In 2010, China overtook Japan as the second-largest economy in the world, after the United States. With a projected 2030 gross domestic product of 94 percent of that of America, China’s economy is not lagging far behind the United States.

Much has changed since 2001.

For instance, Russia’s slow growth, pervasive corruption and inability to diversify its economy away from an over-dependence on oil and gas exports may mean that it should no longer be considered a high-performing BRIC economy.

And despite the fact that in 2007 the Indian economy was less than one-half of that of Russia, by 2030 the Indian economy will almost certainly be at least as large as Russia’s because of its much higher growth rates.

The relevance of the BRIC grouping therefore needs to be reassessed. If Indonesia maintains its rapid growth, the term “BIIC” (Brazil, India, Indonesia, China) may be a more appropriate sobriquet.

Indonesia still has a long way to go before it can match the BRICs’ economic size. In 2010, Indonesia’s GDP accounted for about on- third of India’s, and it may find it hard to catch up by 2030.

Yet, as a member of the G-20, Indonesia is already considered one of the 20 major economies in the world.

Collectively, the G-20 economies account for about 85 percent of global gross national product.

The G-20 group has grown in stature since the Washington summit in 2008 and the more recent G-20 summit in Seoul, in November 2010, and looks likely to replace the G-8 countries (United States, Japan, Germany, France, Britain, Italy, Canada and Russia) as the main economic council of the world’s major economies.

Indonesia survived the financial crisis of 2008 well, with its real GDP growth in 2009 the third-highest in the G-20 after China and India.

The Indonesian economy is predicted to grow at around 6 percent or slightly higher in 2010 and 2011, due to sound macroeconomic policies and economic resilience in the face of external shocks.

These two facts suggest that Indonesia could continue to grow relatively rapidly. But it needs to address two development challenges if it is to aspire to a faster pace of growth.

First, Indonesia needs to invest much more in rebuilding its crumbling physical infrastructure, which is a serious impediment to faster growth.

Increased investment in social infrastructure is also needed to expand and improve the quality of its health services and its education at all levels, particularly at the secondary and tertiary levels, which is essential to stronger growth.

Indonesia also needs to improve its governance and institutions, particularly its state bureaucracy and legal and judicial systems. It remains one of the most corrupt countries in Southeast Asia.

Indonesia needs to root out corruption, since a country with pervasive corruption cannot hope to become a dynamic and prosperous country.

Provided it tackles the issues of corruption and infrastructure, Indonesia could well be the next BRIC nation, and this will transform the group of BRICs into a more internationally influential economic grouping.

Only stupid leader like your ex President Habibie can let your ex East Timor to separate from you .... East Timor is small  but its military position is very strategic within your archipelago as like as Cuba for US ...

For your info ... in the international relationship and law ....no other countries can push you if you are strong ... India succeed to take over Goa from Porto and developed its nuclear arsenal   ... and no other countries can push them like Indonesia.... Tal akan ade negara yang berani push anda jika anda kuat dan ditakuti negara lain ...

Please note that a stupid and corrupt leader and system will make your country  go no where ...

US agreed to reverse Indonesian army ban for Obama visit
Philip Dorling and Nick McKenzie
December 17, 2010

INDONESIA threatened to derail a visit to Jakarta by President Barack Obama this year unless he overturned the US ban on training the controversial Kopassus army special forces.

Leaked US State Department cables reveal that the Indonesian President, Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, privately told the Americans that continuing the ban - introduced in 1999 because of Kopassus's appalling human rights record - was the ''litmus test of the bilateral relationship'' between the US and Indonesia.

Advertisement: Story continues below
Six months later the US agreed to resume ties with Kopassus, despite fierce criticism from some human rights groups and American politicians about Jakarta's failure to hold officers to account for their role in atrocities.

The cables, made available exclusively to the Herald by WikiLeaks, detail US concerns about Indonesia's failure to prosecute the military personnel responsible for murder and torture during the conflicts in East Timor and Aceh.

But they also reveal that US diplomats in Jakarta believed that Dr Yudhoyono's demands should be met to ensure that Indonesia's military and security services would protect US interests in the region, including co-operation in the fight against terrorism. It was also argued that closer military ties would encourage further reform of Indonesia's military.

The Indonesian leader's call to lift the Kopassus training ban is described in a January cable from the US embassy in Jakarta.

''President Yudhoyono (SBY) and other senior Indonesian officials have made it clear to us that SBY views the issue of Army Special Forces (KOPASSUS) training as a litmus test of the bilateral relationship and that he believes the … visit of President Obama will not be successful unless this issue is resolved in advance of the visit.''

The US Defence Secretary, Robert Gates, said in July that the US needed to renew links with Kopassus ''as a result of Indonesian military reforms over the past decade, the ongoing professionalisation of the TNI [army], and recent actions taken by the Ministry of Defence to address human rights issues''.

An expert on the Indonesian military, the Australian Defence Force Academy associate professor Clinton Fernandes, said the cables appeared to show that members of Congress such as Patrick Leahy - author of the 1999 ban on training with Kopassus - ''have not been told the real reason for Mr Obama's decision, which was to provide photo opportunities for the President''.

''The decision to renew links shows contempt not only to the victims of gross human rights violations but to members of the US Congress,'' Professor Fernandes said.

US diplomatic cables from the past four years reveal that Jakarta's intense lobbying to lift the Kopassus ban was largely supported by the US embassy in

Jakarta, which cited the Australian military's ties with Kopassus as a reason to lift the ban. An April 2007 cable says that ''our Australian counterparts often encourage us to resume training for Kopassus''.

But numerous cables also detail serious US concerns about resuming ties. In October 2007, the embassy told Washington that ''Indonesia has not prosecuted past human rights violations in any consistent manner.

''While we need to keep Indonesia mindful of the consequences of inaction on TNI accountability, Indonesia is unlikely to abandon its approach. We need therefore to encourage the Indonesian government to take alternative steps to demonstrate accountability.''

Another 2007 cable details US concern about the appearance at a Kopassus anniversary celebration of Tommy Suharto, the notorious son of the former president who served several years in prison for arranging the killing of a judge who convicted him of fraud.

In May 2008 the chairman of the US Joint Chiefs of Staff, Admiral Mike Mullen, was briefed by US diplomats that ''the key impediment to expanded engagement remains the failure of the GOI [Indonesia] to press for accountability for past human rights abuses by security forces''.

The cable welcomes Indonesia's continuing military reforms but noted they were not ''the same as putting generals behind bars for past human rights abuses''.

Last last year, about six months before the US lifted its Kopassus ban, a senior US official, Bill Burns, told Indonesian counterparts that ''engagement with Kopassus continued to be a difficult and complex issue, particularly as there remained many in Washington, including in Congress, with serious concerns about accountability for past Kopassus actions''.

But the US cables also reveal the Jakarta embassy's efforts to water down the background screening that Indonesian military officers must undergo if they undertake training in the US.

The US embassy is also revealed in another cable as heavily playing down a report by Human Rights Watch last year that alleged Kopassus soldiers had committed recent human rights abuses in Papua. The embassy calls the report unbalanced and unconfirmed and says the abuses detailed do not appear to ''meet the standard of gross violation of human rights''.

Please think rational ... if your country is very-very important to US ... they will give to you many new, modern and sophisticated arm equipment like F16 Block 60, F 18 Super Hornet or F 15 SG to TNI ... not 24 unit old  F16 Block 25 ... For your info ... US is more confident and trust with the Little Dot rather than your country (the largest country in SEA) .....

If your leader is smart ... Indonesia can get more from US  to compensate big profit of  US corporates like Freeport, Chevron, Exxon, Newmont  etc from its operation in Indonesia ... Even Keledai-pun tak nak jatuh untok kedua kalinya di hole yang sama ...

who saying my country is very very important to US? check back my posting cung.
we all know Singapore, Thailand and to some extend Phil are the closest ally of US in SEA.

and I don't think I need information from you to understand my country hehehe
what you need to know is that RI have foreign policy of BEBAS AKTIF, so you suggest we buying alot more war machine from US? I don't think so. unless a blind keledai who will fall twice in the same hole. hahaha..

in a frank English, my country don't give a monkey ass to any body unless they are significantly important to our national interest since SBY in office.

about exxon, chevron and so on...it's business related and even in US still have BP operating there(jog your memory back when the oil exploration exploded in US) this is call globalisation my son. and Obama yesterday said will sue the company. even petronas just won a tender to explore LNG in Indonesia yesterday.  SBY also offer malaysian gov to develop farming in Indonesia to secure malaysian food production and reserve this week so msia don't have to be panic again like last year when world food production dwindling. why? because malaysia, singapore are important jiran of Indonesia. because our country is interconnected in all different aspect.no country perfect in this world, that is including Indonesia( corruption, chaos, natural disaster and so on) but we are moving forward as one. and nothing can stop us for doing so.

as I said, get yourself elected as a ruling party, then I, we Indonesian will only be happy to do business with you. ah enough serious writing, its getting boring not fun any more.....

Jangan lupa, indonesia pernah punya presiden Soekarno yang melawan US. Bagaimana pendapatmu kalau US memberikan kami peralatan canggih lalu orang seperti Soekarno kembali memimpin Indonesia??

Currently there is a news among defence analyst in Singapore that your light frigate or PKR project with Damen will be cancelled and/or aborted because of any legal disputes with your PAL and Ministry of Defence  .. This news surprised me because the Letter of Agreement just signed in September 2010 ..

There is also another news that the bid for 2 new submarines also to be cancelled and/or extended by your Ministry of Defence without further notice ... DSNS from South Korea (who is expected to win the bid with its U209/214)  is very-very disappointed with this decision. It seem that South Korea has also sent a formal letter to Indonesia to say that Indonesia should sign the joint agreement with the latest by the end of this year if  Indonesia want to participate in their KFX project ..  Is it true?

Any explanation on that ?

Wonder ... Indonesia still accept offer from South Korea in its KFX project even Indonesia's position in the project is not as equal partner ... Is it true?

Turki Seeking equal partnership

Separately, Turkish and South Korean officials earlier have said that Turkey, South Korea and Indonesia jointly may develop the South Korean-led KF-X fighter aircraft.

But Turkey is now stepping back from this option. "What we need is a true and equal partnership for the development of a fighter. The problem is that South Korea is not likely to agree to an equal partnership," a senior Turkish procurement told the Hürriyet Daily News & Economic Review, speaking on condition of anonymity.

Turkey already has selected the U.S.-led F-35 Joint Strike Fighter Lightning II as one of its next-generation fighter aircraft types. It plans to buy about 100 F-35 aircraft worth nearly $15 billion. Many Turkish companies are members of the Joint Strike Fighter consortium of nine Western countries, and are producing parts for the aircraft. Turkey also will receive 30 modern F-16 Block 50 fighters from Lockheed Martin as a stopgap solution until F-35 deliveries begin around 2015.

Minister Gönül said Turkey's newly designed fighter aircraft "would be a next-generation type, would replace the [U.S.-made] F-4Es and would function well with the F-16 and the F-35." He therefore confirmed that the new aircraft mostly would be meant for air-to-air fighting.

Meanwhile, a much expected selection of the military's next utility helicopter type did not come at the Defense Industry Executive Committee meeting. AgustaWestland and Sikorsky Aircraft are vying for the joint manufacture of 109 helicopters, worth up to $4 billion.

"The offers … were insufficient," Gönül said. "Talks with both companies will continue, but we think that they should reduce their prices."

on the old agreement, RI only shoulder 20% of the cost. and since Turkey wish to join in all the agreement will be re negotiate. it could be RI still shoulder the 20% while SK and Turkey 40% each. but everything will be sign next year(not this year as plan ) bear in mind, RI not a rich country like Singapore. and defence procurement is an expensive business.

Mau Beli Kapal Selam, TNI AL Realistis
Rabu, 22 Desember 2010, 19:04 WIB
