FRIM PHOTO CONTEST 2011

The Forest Research Institute Malaysia (FRIM) invites photographers and photo enthusiasts, professionals as well as amateurs, to join its Photography Competition this year themed “FRIM Tapak Warisan Semula Jadi”.
The photographs must be taken in FRIM, Kepong, between 1 January and 28 February 2011. For free entrance to FRIM, please register in person at the FRIM Corporate Management Unit (Building D2, located next to the FRIM Library) from 8am to 5pm (Monday to Friday) and at the FRIM One Stop Centre (D6) from 9am to 4pm (during weekends or public holidays). For this purpose, participant will only be allowed to come into FRIM free-of-charge twice during this period.
The aim of the competition is to enhance public awareness of the importance of FRIM not only as a leading institute contributing to forest conservation in the region but also one of the country’s most treasured natural heritage.
Held in conjunction with the International Year of Forests, the photo competition will also help to draw public attention to the importance of forests and the natural environment to our general health and well-being, and to strengthen support for conservation efforts.
There are three categories of participants:
A) Open to all
B) Wedding Photos
C) Students (for those aged 13–17).
All entries must be submitted by 5.00pm on 28 February 2011.
Participants are allowed to submit unlimited number of photographs, by post or hand-delivered to “Urusetia Pertandingan Fotografi FRIM 2011, Unit Pengurusan Korporat, Institut Penyelidikan Perhutanan Malaysia (FRIM), 52109 Kepong, Selangor Darul Ehsan, Malaysia”.
Winners will each receive a certificate of participation plus the following prizes:
A. Open Category:
• First prize: RM 3,000 • Second prize: RM 1,000 • Third prize: RM500
• 5 Consolation Prizes: RM200 each
B. Wedding Photo Category:
• First prize: RM 2,000 • Second prize: RM 750 • Third prize: RM 500
• 5 Consolation Prizes: RM200 each
C. Student Category:
• First prize: RM 1,500 • Second prize: RM 500 • Third prize: RM 250
• 5 Consolation Prizes: RM100 each

join la ek contest tuh, sbb 2 in 1 tu maknanya -> 2 contests in 1 outing
Contest 1 (Jan) : Moments with Nikon (sith warlords bole shoot geng & tukar2 skill/kamera ke, wat agreement kalu menang ke, hehe. kalah x pe, skill/xp tu dah dapat)
Contest 2 (Feb) : Tapak Warisan Alam Semula Jadi (darkside/the force join venture)

setakat yang aku tau, kita terpaksa guna editor mcm photoshop utk setkan size ni, kamera cuma boleh set aspect ratio gambar 16:9 atau 3:2 |

syarat pertandingan tu, dia suruh hantar gambar dalam file JPEG...
kat kamera aku, file JPEG ada 3 saiz...
Small 2464x1632; 4.0M
Medium 3696x2448; 9.0M
Large 4928x3264; 16.1M
sesuai pakai saiz yang mana satu...?
saiz tu ada kaitan tak ngan kualiti gambar...? |

Small 2464/300 x 1632/300 = 8.21" x 5.44"
Medium 3696/300 x 2448/300 = 12.32" x 8.16"
Large 4928/300 x 3264/300 = 16.43" x 10.88"
Maknanya saiz pilih Medium tanpa crop utk 8R. Kalau salah harap betulkan. |

sebab apa, kalau amik Medium, pastu crop, pastu nak besarkan balik kepada 12"x8", nanti gambar tak jadi sharp...betul ke...? |

Boleh shoot Large.
1. Pastu, dlm image editor buat new image, saiz Medium 300ppi.
2. Foto Large tadi tu -> pastekan/drag ke atas layer saiz medium tu & adjust composition.
Cara ni lebih kurang mcm crop gak, cuma bezanya, kau pasti yang sharpness dia akan retained.
Kalau dr Large terus crop scr direct kepada 8R, aku tak pasti sharpness, sbb photoshop nampak mcm dia resizekan sedikit, wpun tak nampak sgt perubahan sharpness tu, my 2 sen.. |
