TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has advised Indonesian citizens (WNI) to postpone their travel to Iran and Israel unless absolutely necessary. This announcement was made by the Ministry through a post on X (formerly Twitter) on Saturday, April 13, 2024.

The Ministry also urged Indonesian citizens in Iran, Israel, and Palestine to remain vigilant and anticipate potential security escalations amid the growing tensions between Tehran and Tel Aviv.

"For Indonesian citizens who have not yet registered, please immediately contact the nearest Indonesian representative office or register online at peduliwni.kemlu.go.id," said the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

In case of emergency situations, Indonesian citizens are requested to promptly contact the Indonesian Embassy in Tehran at +989024668889 or the Indonesian Embassy in Cairo at +201022229989.

According to the Indonesian Embassy in Tehran, the number of Indonesian citizens in Iran is recorded at 376 individuals, the majority of whom are students in the city of Qom.

Israel remains on high alert amidst threats from Iran to target Israeli interests in retaliation for the April 1 airstrike on its diplomatic facilities in the Syrian capital, Damascus.

The airstrike claimed the lives of at least seven members of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, including two senior generals.
