Capitol Police physically removed Brian McGinnis from a congressional hearing Wednesday, with video of the altercation showing the Marine veteran screaming, “No one wants to fight for Israel,” as Sen. Tim Sheehy, R-Mont., helped law enforcement eject McGinnis.
Video posted by CBS News' Alan He shows three Capitol police officers trying to remove McGinnis — who describes himself as a Marine veteran and Green Party political candidate — before Sheehy is seen joining them and lifting McGinnis’ leg.
With a hand wrapped around a door, McGinnis screamed, “No one wants to fight for Israel” as the officers and Sheehy tried pulling him out of the hearing.
As the skirmish de-escalated, McGinnis claimed his hand was stuck in the door as one officer attempted to help him remove it.
Sheehy, a member of the subcommittee, eventually stepped away from McGinnis and the officers and walked back toward his seat on the panel.
Sheehy confirmed the altercation in a post, calling McGinnis an “unhinged protestor” who “came to the Capitol looking for a confrontation.”
McGinnis has not publicly commented on the altercation, but posted a videoearlier Wednesday on Capitol Hill, saying he wanted to ask the Senate “why they’re going to send our men and women into harm's way.”
Forbes has reached out to McGinnis for comment, though a Green Party official who works with McGinnis told CBS News he was arrested and transported to a local hospital.
