A senior detective from the Major Crimes Unit was found dead in the early hours of this morning after falling from an apartment building, presumably while trying to evade his colleagues who came to raid the premises. Police sources revealed that the apartment unit where the incident occurred was suspected to be a rendezvous place between the deceased and another person; police launched a raid after receiving a report and found a woman in the unit, which led to the discovery of the murder.
The incident occurred at approximately 3:00 AM today in an apartment in Section 14, Shah Alam, Selangor. The deceased, a Malay man named Mohd Firdaus Safuan (42 years old, from Kuantan, Pahang), had served in the police force for 18 years and held the rank of Assistant Superintendent. According to reports, police arrived at the scene after receiving a report and found the deceased lying on the ground, unconscious; paramedics later confirmed that the deceased had died.
It is understood that the victim, who hailed from Kuantan, Pahang, was attached to the Serious Crimes Unit (D9) of the Selangor CID. At the time of the incident, Bukit Aman’s Integrity and Standard Compliance Department (JIPS) had arrived at the premises to conduct a surprise check, during which the fatal fall occurred.
Meanwhile, the Selangor Police also posted on Facebook to mourn the Inspector's passing and extend their condolences to his family. They noted that the deceased had served in the police force for 18 years, describing his departure as a great loss to the Selangor Police.
