The reigning Miss Universe Malaysia is set to make heads turn at the Miss Universe finals in Sao Paolo, Brazil on Sept 12 with her sexy Wau Bulan (kite)-inspired national costume.
We have only one word for her outfit - wow!
Created by top local designer Amir Luqman, whose celebrity clientele include Malaysian pop queen Datuk Siti Nurhaliza, Malaysian jazz queen Datuk Sheila Majid and Indonesian pop diva Krisdayanti, the exquisite design cost a whopping RM350,000 to make.
It was unveiled at a special media conferece in Sunway Lagoon Tuesday.
"It's easy to wear," said a beaming Deborah. "It's very elegant."
Judging from its tight-fitting form, the two-time beauty queen must have worked hard in the gym.
"Yes, I've been working out," Deborah admitted.
The semi-transparent fabric - a gorgeous combination of lace and the finest traditional Malay songket from the Royal Terengganu songket, accentuates her killer abs.
"I'm fine with showing some skin," the 26-year-old said with a laugh. "It doesn't scream super sexy. There are a lot of flower details on the fabric that will draw people's attention to it."
Amir explained his masterpiece, "I like to show some skin in my designs. To me, it's just about being honest. It's not a sexual kind of thing."
The Wau Bulan-based costume took four months to be completed.
When asked if she's ready to fly high at the grand finals, a super-confident Deborah said, "I'm extremely excited. I'm not nervous, but I'm feeling a little bit of pressure."
