KUALA LUMPUR - Datuk Nicol David melakar sejarah baru skuasy wanita dunia apabila merangkul gelaran Terbuka Dunia untuk kali keenam berturut-turut sebentar tadi di Rotterdam, Belanda yang sekaligus meleburkan rekod lima kali yang dipegang lagenda Australia, Sarah Fitz Gerald sejak 2002.
Nicol selaku pilihan utama menang mudah ke atas lawannya yang merupakan pilihan kedua, Jenny Duncalf dari England 11-2, 11-5, 11-0 dalam tempoh 29 minit.

Nicol Supreme for Six
Malaysian superstar Nicol David collected a record SIXTH World Open title here at the Luxor Theatre in Rotterdam with a supreme performance to dismiss second seed Jenny Duncalf in straight games in just under half an hour.
The English world number two didn't do anything wrong, made very few unforced errors, but it was hard to see where her points were going to come from, such was the control that the Malaysian, moving and hitting supremely well, was exerting on the match and on her opponent.
Nicol led 5/0 in the first after some long opening rallies, taking it 11/2, she led 6/2 in the second, finishing it off 11/5, and was totally dominant in the third as Duncalf's spirit visibly wilted.
Six titles in seven years for Nicol. Supreme!.

Kaaan....teruk si Jenny Duncalf kene sayur dengan Nicol masa 3rd game. Die macam tergamam & mati akal.
Tapi ikut pengamatan & pandangan TT, Jenny Duncalf agak neves & pressure sebenarnya. Ini final pertama dalam World Open untuk die (dalam 10 kali World OPen, 2 kali saje layak samapai quarters sebelum ni). So, masuk final & met the seeding (since die second seeded) sudah cukup bagus & quite a performance utk die.
Sebelum match, ada pre-match interview & Jenny cakap there's no presure utk die (sebenaunya try nak physco Nicol, nak exert pressure to Nicol) tapi alih2 masa match nampak raut wajah die cukup pressure. Die plak yg terpressure sbb tak leh nk match Nicol. She must have been thinking about clinching the victory.
Who in WISPA can match Nicol's phenomenal speed, court coverage & footwork? |

nampak match semalam sama cam match LD vs LCW masa final olimpik.......tp yg nih maybe better kot sbb si Jenny tuh x byk sgt wat unforced error cuma gameplay si DND memang almost perfect........habih satu gelanggang dia cover sampaikan si Jenny tuh mati akal.....x nampak cam 1st seed vs 2nd seed more like match LCW lawan Arif Latif jer.......hahahahahaah |

tu la pasal....commentators pun ckp jenny didnt do wrong..least unforced errors..cuma performance nicol betul2 dasyat sampai die pasrah ajerrr...kalo perasan match dorang pun very minimal 'let' & 'stroke'....so no argumentative decision lah..kira Nicol menang smooth...compared to men's final..nick matthew & greg gaultier banyak argumentative ref decisions...
even post-match interview, Jenny praised Nicol:
"She was ridiculously good today, it happened a couple of times in big finals, in the Commonwealth Games final, here…. It’s a bit of an anti-climax really. She never let me get into the match, her length was incredible, she was in front of me the whole time, and when you have Nicol in front of you, you are in big trouble. I wanted to stay on there as long as possible, but she had other ideas…" Jenny Duncalf
Sama mcm ko kata, ada English fan cakap, match dorang semalam seolah2 Nicol berada pada ranking 30 lebih tinggi dari jenny.
