Roger Federer vs Rafael Nadal in the Australian Open Semis
The greatest rivalry in tennis Roger Federer vs Rafael Nadal showdown is unavoidable as both tennis players advanced to the Australian Open 2012 in Melbourne, Australia. They crossed path not in the Finals this time because of the the emergence of No 1 Novak Djokovic while Nadal and Federer seeded No 2 and No 3 respectively.
Federer defeated Juan Martin del Potro in a 6-4, 6-3, 6-2 quarterfinal match Tuesday. An easy victory for the four-time Australian Open Champion who will enter into his ninth semis in Melbourne. A total domination for Federer as he maneuvered with great precision on his volleys and serves to dismantle the heart of Del Potro. Federer loves to be here in Australian Open as he seeks for his fifth Open title and his 17th Grand Slam.
On the other side of the coin, Nadal laboriously toiled against reluctant Tomas Berdych winning the match 6-7 (5), 7-6 (6), 6-4, 6-3. Nadal struggled early in the first set but he persevered with his mental ability to make the move winning three consecutive sets not in an easy fashion. Nadal will again face his greatest enemy in the world of tennis and only Nadal has the sight of chasing the 16 Grand Slams of Federer.
For the first time since 2005 that a Federer-Nadal in the Semifinals as they are not ranked 1 and 2 this time around. Most of the previous grand slam tournaments, Nadal and Federer were the No 1 and No 2 seeds.
Federer vs Nadal in the Australian Open Men’s Semifinals will bring the best of tennis once again for all the lovers of this game. Surely, these tennis players will never disappoint the public. With all the anticipations, the dream match is set as the collision of two great players cannot be stopped at all.
