Serbia Ingin Perdalam Kerjasama Industri Pertahanan Dengan Indonesia

Jakarta, DMC - Wakil Menteri Pertahanan Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin, Kamis (29/3), menerima kunjungan kehormatan Duta Besar Serbia untuk Indonesia HE Jovan Jovanovic, di Kantor Kementerian Pertahanan, Jakarta. Kunjungannya kali ini adalah untuk menindaklanjuti MoU antara Kemhan RI dan Serbia dalam bidang Pertahanan yang telah ditandatangani antara kedua Menteri Pertahanan tahun lalu.

Wamenhan menjelaskan bahwa untuk menindaklanjuti MoU kerjasama pertahanan kedua negara, perlu diadakan pertemuan Kementerian Pertahanan kedua negara untuk melihat kemungkinan aktifitas kerjasama apa saja yang dapat dilakukan, dikembangkan dan aktifitas kerjasama lainnya yang masih dalam koridor pertahanan. Sedangkan mengenai tawaran pengadaan alutsista produksi Serbia, Wamenhan menyerahkan kebutu*an tersebut kepada pengguna dalam hal ini TNI AD.

Sementara itu Dubes Jovan Jovanovic mengatakan bahwa kerjasama yang ingin diperdalam adalah dalam bidang industri pertahanan yang selama ini sudah terjalin sejak tahun 2004. Terutama alutsista yang digunakan oleh TNI AD khususnya artileri. Dubes Serbia juga berharap kerjasama pertahanan kedua negara ditingkatkan dalam bidang pertukaran pendidikan antara perwira terutama bagi yang bertugas di bidang kesehatan.

Saat menerima kunjungan kehormatan Dubes Serbia untuk Indonesia, Wakil Menhan Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin didampingi Kepala Pusat Komunikasi Publik Kemhan Brigjen TNI Hartind Asrin dan Direktur Kerjasama Internasional Ditjen Strategi Pertahanan Kemhan Brigjen TNI Jan Pieter Ate M.Bus.

Indonesia sends protest note on US plan to build military surveillance base near territory

JAKARTA, March 29 (Xinhua) -- An Indonesian minister said on Thursday that government has sent a protest note against the plan of U.S. military to build a military base in Australia's Cocos island located 3,000 kilometers south of its territory, saying that it would disrupt the country's sovereignty.

"Our protest was based on the data we already gathered regarding the issue. The data were gathered through monitoring using planes and radar. We had conveyed the protest note," Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security affairs Djoko Suyanto told a press conference here.

He said that the protest note had been conveyed to Australia and U.S. governments. According to the minister, there had been interactive communication between related institutions in Australia and U.S. regarding the protest. "Each country had the rights to protect their sovereignty," the minister said.

Australian Defense Minister Stephen Smith said in earlier reports that the United States intended to use Cocos island as the base for its surveillance planes. But the plan, he said, would not be implemented in the near future.

If the United States goes ahead with the plan, Cocos island would replace its military base in Diego Garcia island that located in Indian ocean. The U.S. military base in Diego Garcia is hired from the British.

The Cocos island is located in west side of Indian island, south of Indonesia's island of Sumatra.

U.S. media reported that the island is an ideal base to accommodate reconnaissance aircraft including Global Hawk drone, the most sophisticated surveillance aircraft operated by US air force.

Australian Premier Julia Gillard said that talks with the U.S. administration regarding the plan is underway at the moment.

90 LSM Tolak Rencana Penjualan AH-64 Apache Ke Indonesia

As organizations concerned about human rights in Indonesia and West Papua, we are writing to urge the U.S. government and Congress not to allow the sale of AH-64 Apache attack helicopters to the Indonesian military (TNI). Providing these helicopters would pose a direct threat to Papuan civilians, who have been the target of deadly TNI assaults for many years.

The sale of this weapons system to the TNI -- notwithstanding its long record of disregard for civilian casualties, corruption, human rights violations and impunity in East Timor, Aceh and elsewhere -- would only increase the suffering of the Papuan population.

Indonesia's Deputy Minister of Defense Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin told the Antara news agency, that Indonesia intends to buy eight AH-64 Apache helicopter from the United States.

The heavily-armed AH-64 is a highly lethal weapon which can be used to escalate conflict within Indonesia and in West Papua. These aircraft will substantially augment the TNI's capacity to prosecute its "sweep operations" in West Papua and thereby, almost certainly lead to increased suffering among the civilian populations long victimized by such operations.

TNI "sweep operations," including several now underway in the Central Highlands region of West Papua, involve attacks on villages. Homes are destroyed, along with churches and public buildings. These assaults, purportedly to eliminate the poorly armed Papuan armed resistance, force innocent villagers from their homes. Papuan civilians either flee the attacks to neighboring villages or into the surrounding forests where many die or face starvation, cut off from access to their gardens, shelter, and medical care.

The AH-64 is designed for air to ground attack. It can operate day or night and is armed with high caliber chain guns . It is also equipped to fire missiles.

Congress must be notified of major weapons sales. We urge Congress to oppose the sale of these helicopters.

Satkopaska Koarmatim Latihan Tempur Di Guam

Satuan Komando Pasukan Katak (Satkopaska) Koarmatim mengikuti latihan tempur dengan US. Navy SEALs dengan sandi Flash Iron 12-02, di Guam Amerika Serikat, sebuah pulau yang berada di Samudera Pasifik. Satkopaska Koarmatim yang tergabung dalam Satuan Tugas (Satgas) Latma Flash Iron 12-01 JCET (Joint Combine Exercise Training), diberangkatkan oleh Pangarmabar Laksamana Muda TNI Didit Herdiawan di Lapangan Arafuru Mako Koarmabar, Jalan Gunung Sahari Jakarta Pusat, belum lama ini, Kamis (22/03).

Satkopaska Koarmatim menerjunkan satu tim pasukan terdiri dari 12 personel yang dipimpin langsung oleh Komandan Satuan (Dansat) Kopaska Koarmatim Kolonel Laut (P) Yeheskiel Katiandagho. Selanjutnya Tim Satkopaska Koarmatim bergabung dengan Tim dari Satkopaska Koarmabar bersama-sama dalam satgas Latma Flas Iron 12-01 di markas Naval Special Warfare Unit (NSWU)-1 Guam (AS). Rencananya Latma Flash Iron 12-01 dilaksanakan selama 23 hari mulai tanggal 24 Maret sampai 16 April 2012 di Guam (AS).

Materi latihan meliputi beberapa aspek pertempuran diantaranya penerjunan udara (Military Free Fall), pertempuran diruang tertutup (Close quarters combat), peperangan laut menggunakan kedaraan air cepat (Maritime Craft Areal Delivery System), penyelam tempur (Combat Diving) dan manufer lapangan (Final Training Exercise). Bertindak sebagai Dansatgas Flash Iron 12-01 JCET Kolonel Laut (P) R. Eko Suyatno yang sehari-hari menjabat sebagai Komandan Dansatkopaska Koarmabar.

Latihan bersama Flash Iron merupakan program latihan yang rutin dilaksanakan oleh Kopaska TNI Angkatan Laut dan US Navy SEALs dua kali dalam setahun. Penyelenggaraan latihan tersebut merupakan wujud kerja sama antara Indonesia dan Amerika Serikat khususnya dalam bidang militer.

Gladi tempur antara Kopaska TNI AL dan US. Navy SEALs bertujuan untuk mengetahui sejauh mana kesiapsiagaan Satkopaska tentang doktrin taktis dan teknis peperangan laut khusus (Naval Special Warfare). Dari latihan bersama tersebut diharapkan dapat meningkatkan profesionalitas serta kerjasama Kopaska TNI Angkatan Laut dan US Navy Seals. Selain itu juga untuk meningkatkan hubungan bilateral kedua negara yang selama ini telah terjalin dengan baik.
