toyota vios drive shaft.

recently i sent my vios 06 to toyota SC.Mechanic told me that my car drive shaft need to be replace and it cost RM5000+.Just wanna ask anyone change the drive shaft before and is it so damn expensive?Maybe anyone can recommend a dependable mechanic in Kepong area?

instead of replacing the whole driveshaft, have you tried asking your mech whether it is possible to use the driveshaft repair kit only.. should be cheaper.. (and since your car no longer under warranty, forget SC. Go to cherry tree workshop - should be a lot cheaper)

    But the Toyota mech told me if not install properly it will damage your gearbox.Maybe the mech is threatening me!

For me once your car warranty ended, better go to independent workshop that you can trust. Sometimes Service Center tend to choose the easy "way out" by replacing whole thing rather than doing the actual repair. Why ? because it's saves their time and more profitable. It's not just toyota, I also face the same crappy policy from Volvo and Land Rover.

Having said that, make sure your choose competent independent workshop.

do u mind telling us what is ur vios milage? have the car been involved in any frontal collision before?

6 years and already need to replace drive shaft i thought toyota always made their parts to last longer

My Mileage is nearly 80k and no accident before but i think this model of car is not really tough enough but comfortable to sit!

just go to any car accessories shop...ask the price only drive shaft part...then u know...

Have you ever heard of kedai potong? This kedai potong can supply 2nd hand spare parts with 1/10 of the brandnew price.
