Toure - It's not finished

City midfielder wary of QPR test next Sunday

Last Updated: May 6, 2012 10:36pm

Yaya Toure: City midfielder bagged a crucial brace against Newcastle

Yaya Toure fired Manchester City to within touching distance of the Premier League title, but immediately sounded a note of caution.

Toure's brace earned an impressive 2-0 win at Newcastle meaning that a win over QPR next weekend will earn Roberto Mancini's men their first championship since 1968.

Toure broke the deadlock with a superb curling effort from the edge of the box and then made it 2-0 in the closing moments as the Magpies pushed for a leveller.

The Ivory Coast midfielder, though, was not prepared to look too far ahead, despite acknowledging the significance of this result.

Not finished

"It's not finished," he told Sky Sports.

"We have one game left and we have to be careful as QPR are fighting to stay in the Premier League.

"We have to continue to work hard and believe.

"The manager told me to deliver today because it was an important game.

"Newcastle are a physical and strong team, but we need to keep improving. This is brilliant for us, though."

Manchester City set to hand £22m mega-deal to boss Mancini

By Sportsmail Reporter

Roberto Mancini is set to be rewarded with a new £22m contract by Manchester City.

The Italian boss has guided the Blues to the brink of their first league title in 44 years.

City and United are level on points with just one game to go but Mancini's side have a better goal difference and are at home to relegation-threatened QPR on Sunday, while United travel to Sunderland.

Now City hope to celebrate Premier League glory by handing Mancini a new four-year deal and making him the country's best-paid boss, reports The Sun.

Mancini, 47, is already planning for next season at City. He has the go-ahead from owner Sheikh Mansour to make a £30m move for Arsenal striker Robin van Persie, who has a year left on his contract and has so far failed to agree a new deal.

City are also favourites to win the battle with United to land Lille playmaker Eden Hazard, 21, in a £25million deal

Susic expects Dzeko exit

By ESPN staff

Bosnia and Herzegovina boss Safet Susic believes Edin Dzeko will leave Manchester City this summer.

Dzeko, 26, has found opportunities hard to come by in recent times and has been linked with the likes of Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund.

His international manager believes the striker, who signed from Wolfsburg in January 2011, will be forced to seek a move at the end of the season.

"Dzeko's situation at Manchester City cannot last forever," Susic told SportSport.ba. "He knows what is best for him. It seems that Manchester City will win the title, which means Roberto Mancini and his staff will remain, and I saw that City are planning to bring in even more attacking players."

Dzeko had been linked with Juventus before joining City but his agent, Silvano Martina, recently said a move to Serie A is unlikely.

"Dzeko is a champion, although this season he has not done so well," Martina said. "The City striker costs too much, so no Italian club will deal with the English club to buy him now.

"I think that Edin is very suited to Italian football, where physical and technical qualities make the difference, because these are his best qualities."
