Kuroko's Basketball to Launch Sequel Manga in December
This year's fifth issue of Shueisha's Jump Next magazine is announcing on Tuesday that Tadatoshi Fujimaki will launch a sequel to his Kuroko no Basuke (Kuroko's Basketball) manga in the next issue on December 29. The series will be set after the "moving finale" of the main Kuroko's Basketball manga. The new manga's debut will feature a color opening page and art on the magazine's cover.
The magazine teases, "On September 1, 2014, the curtains closed on their journey [kiseki]. But wait, the miracle [kiseki] is not over yet!" Fujimaki ended the main manga in Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump magazine on September 1.
In the beginning of the story, Taiga Kagami has just enrolled into Seirin High School when he meets Tetsuya Kuroko of the school's basketball team. Kuroko happens to be the shadowy sixth member of the legendary "Generation of Miracles" basketball team. Together, Kagami and Kuroko aim to take their team to the inter-high school championship β against Kuroko's former teammates.
Fujimaki launched the main manga series in Weekly Shonen Jump in 2008, and Shueisha will publish the 30th and final compiled volume in December. As of April, the series had more than 27 million copies in circulation.
The first anime season based on the manga ran from April to September of 2012. The second season premiered last October and ran through March. The third season is scheduled for next year, although the exact month has not been announced. Crunchyroll streamed the anime outside of Japan as it aired.
