Man of the match

Michu - Swansea City

Two fine finishes from the Spanish player, who continues to look better and better. Just gets the nod ahead of team-mates Ashley Williams and Angel Rangel who were equally dependable under pressure.

Arsenal miss top spot with defeat at Olympiacos

Olympiacos FC 2-1 Arsenal FC
Victory would have put Arsenal through as Group B winners but they lost their half-time lead to goals from Giannis Maniatis and Kostas Mitroglou.

Olympiakos' Kostas Mitroglou (top) and Vassilis Torosidis (C) fight for the ball with Arsenals's Marouane Chamakh during their Group B Champions league football game at the Karaiskaki stadium in Athens. Arsenal's dispiriting season took a turn for the worse on Tuesday as the Gunners crashed to a 2-1 defeat at Olympiakos. Last edited by Don Henley on 5-12-2012 09:26 AM

Cazorla dive row as Arsenal beat West Brom

Premier League, Emirates Stadium - Arsenal 2 (Arteta 26 pen, 64 pen) West Bromwich Albion 0.

Arsenal sealed a controversial 2-0 Premier League win over West Bromwich Albion at the Emirates Stadium.
Mikel Arteta scored both goals from penalties, the first coming after a blatant dive by Santi Cazorla.

Cazorla threw himself to the turf on 25 minutes despite Steven Reid making no contact with his tackle, but referee Mike Jones pointed to the spot.

There was no doubt about Chris Brunt's foul on Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain to concede the second penalty just after the hour mark, but West Brom felt the England winger had himself fouled earlier in the move.

Arteta clipped both spot-kicks down the middle as Boaz Myhill dived out of the way.

Arsenal ended a three game winless streak in the Premier League, and provisionally move seventh. West Brom remain ahead of the Gunners in fifth despite their third defeat in a row.

Football - Arteta: Cazorla is no diver

Arsenal midfielder Mikel Arteta has defended team-mate Santi Cazorla from accusations of diving following the winger's controversial role in Saturday's 2-0 defeat of West Brom.

"Santi was saying that he felt something. If there is a little (contact), it is (still) contact. The ref makes decisions, some right and some wrong," Arteta told reporters.

"For me, it is not right to dive. Santi is not a player who dives. He has taken a lot this year because of the way he plays and if he has done it (it is) because he felt something and changed direction, but he is not that type of player."

Arsenal knocked out by fourth-division Bradford

Bradford City’s League Cup run continued with a shock penalties win over a dire Arsenal side at Valley Parade, extending the League Two side’s shoot-out record to nine triumphs in a row.

Arsenal had trailed much of the game to Garry Thompson’s early goal before Thomas Vermaelen levelled with three minutes left, only for the Belgian to miss the crucial kick as Arsenal lost the shoot-out 3-2.

Marouane Chamakh and Santi Cazorla also missed their penalties as Arsenal – who were terrible for much of the game but dominated from the 75th minute onwards – paid the price for a toothless display in front of goal, a display which included one of the misses of the season from the much-maligned Gervinho.
