PUTRAJAYA: Attempts to discredit the electoral roll continues with the latest claim involving an individual named Ab Rapar Awang who is alleged to have three identity cards (IC).
Election Commission (EC) secretary Mohamed Kamaruddin Baria said the name Ab Rapar Awang belonged to three different individuals who shared the same spelled name, but had different IC numbers, fingerprints and photos.
"There is no way the same Ab Rapar Awang can vote more than once at three different locations in Pahang as claimed (namely at Sekolah Kebangsaan Balok, Sekolah Kebangsaan Bukit Setongkol and Sekolah Kebangsaan LKTP Bukit Kuantan),"he said in a statement today.
Similarly, he added, in the case of Jarmiah binti Abi Talib, who were sisters shared the same name and stayed at the same address.
The two sisters, however, had different date of birth, IC numbers for the old and new ICs and different fingerprints, said Mohamed Kamaruddin.
"In the electoral roll, the IC numbers are used as voters' identification instead of their names.
The EC is aware of possible confusion if names are used as voters' identifier because there are many same spelled names with different IC numbers," he said.
Mohamed Kamaruddin gave other instances of same spelled names existed in the electoral roll including the name Ismail bin Ibrahim belonged to 1,507 different individuals; Fatimah binti Abdullah (1,401 inviduals); Fatimah binti Ismail (1,377 individuals); Fatimah binti Ahmad (1,377 individuals) Ismail bin Ahmad (1,368 indviduals), and Azizah binti Ahmad (1,039 individuals).
Based on EC's own checks, he said these same spelled names had different 12-digit IC numbers.
"Thus, if there are parties who claim the same name is a reference to the same individual, then the claim is not true.
"It is impossible for an individual named Ismail bin Ibrahim has 1,507 identity cards as the IC numbers vary.
"Similarly, if there is a claim that the individual is able to vote more than once also is not true," he added.
Mohamed Kamaruddin also said measures had been taken to prevent anyone from casting their votes more than once by using the indelible ink in the 13th edition of the general election.
The permanent ink would be applied on voters' left index finger, he said, adding that the ballot paper would not be given to those who refused to have their fingers marked.
"The indelible ink used for early voters will not be the same colour applied to the ordinary voters." he said.

memang betul pun..kat sini kawan i pun ada dua nama...satu undi kat sini satu lagi kat meru...tiap2 undi dia undi dua2 pagi kat sini petang g meru la dia...mmg tau pun...bukan dia ja..ramai lagi...sejak lama dah mmg mcm ni..cuma skang ja baru sket2 terbongkar...yang xcaya tu sudahhh...sbb mmg depan mata ni..siap tadi leh kol dia tny dia thn ni dia undi dua2 ke tak...

Betui lah. 3 IC berlainan nombor tapi kenapa namanya sama, tarikh lahirmpun sama? 1 Orang, 3 IC, 3 Tempat Undi !
