PKR calls for independent body to investigate new TNB meters
PETALING JAYA (Aug 16, 2013): An independent body should be commissioned to check the new Tenaga Nasional meters that have been at the centre of controversy over the sudden hike in electricity bills recently.
The PKR special committee on high electricity bills called for answers as to why electricity bills have gone up so much, reportedly even up to "200% in some cases."
"One suggestion is for an internationally accredited meter to be placed next to TNB's new digital meter and have both run simultaneously over a period of time.
"After this time, if the readings do not match, we can determine that TNB's meter is faulty " said PKR vice president Datuk Chua Jui Meng today at the PKR headquarters.
Chua also questioned the standards that the TNB applied to determine that their meters are working correctly.
"Where did they source the meters from? Where did the technology and calibration come from? Who accredited the meters?"
According to the committee – which also consists of Kelana Jaya MP Wong Cheng, Wangsa Maju MP Datuk Tan Kee Kwong, and Seri Andalas state assemblyman Dr Xavier Jayakumar – they received hundreds of complaints from the residential, corporate, and industrial sectors from all over the nation.
As a response, the committee launched a website, www.checkyourtnbmeter.com, as an initiative to gather 10,000 signatures to bring to TNB and Suruhanjaya Tenaga (ST) to compel them to commission an independent body for investigations.
"TNB has indicated to us that they welcome this initiative, but requested each account holder to pay RM20 to facilitate investigations," Wong said.
"Through our website, we are taking the matter straight to ST to request for an independent body to undergo the investigations at no charge to the consumers," he added, calling it unfair for TNB to expect consumers to pay for the investigations when their electricity bills were already so high.
"If the meters are faulty, consumers can demand a refund from TNB. If the meters are accurate, TNB and ST need to teach consumers on how to manage and reduce their energy consumption," Chua said.

Sokong 100%, aku pun nak tahu standard calibration apa yg TNB pakai untuk meter ni. Timbang kati kat pasar jual ikan tu pun ada standard calibration.

Please la.. all the while pakai RM100-RM150 monthly.. But for the past 3 - 4 months ni, RM269, RM371. Tak ke gila punya increase. Bila report ckp bacaan sebenar. Tiada kerosakkan dan bla bla bla.. |

Please la.. all the while pakai RM100-RM150 monthly.. But for the past 3 - 4 months ni, RM269, RM37 ...
ada pakai ekon tak?

dapat pelarasan lah neh..
selama neh depa kira main anggaran.. sebab tak sempat melawat permis..
bulan lepas dia sempat masuk.. (atau masa lain tak dapat masuk sebab pagar berkunci etc)..
so bila kira ikut angka sebenar melalui bacaan meter, u dah pernah terlebih bayar..
sebab tuh kena minus..

ada pakai ekon tak?
Aircon pakai. Malam saja.. Dah 3 tahun lebih bill consistence between RM 100-RM150 kdg2 terbabas RM180 if family dari jauh dtg longgok kat rumah pasang aircon siang malam. Yg jadi masalah, tak bertanbah pun brgn electirc lain. Kalau I tambah 2 unit 2,5HP aircon, mmg tak complain la. |

dapat pelarasan lah neh..
selama neh depa kira main anggaran.. sebab tak sempat melawat permis. ...
pernah la dulu bil melantun2 sampai 80hengget berbulan2...kan ke menyusahkan org kalo jam tu org tgh kopak..bertambahlah kopak..meter kat bawah umah takde pun berkunci kaka..kalo nak cabut bawak balik meter tu pun bulih.. |
