Pahang - Selangor Raw Water Transfer Tunnel

Tujuan terowong ini dibina adalah untuk menyalirkan air mentah dari Pahang ke Selangor. Projek ini diselia oleh Pasukan Projek Penyaluran Air Mentah Pahang - Selangor dibwah Kementerian Tenaga, Teknologi Hijau dan Air (KeTTHA).
Kontraktor yg membina terowong ini ialah joint venture antara company Jepun & Malaysia - Shimizu-Nishimatsu-UEMB-IJM JV.
Inlet terowong berada di Karak, Pahang dan Outlet di Hulu Langat, Selangor. Panjang terowong kira-kira 44.6 km merentasi banjaran titiwangsa dengan kedalaman menjangkau 1200m.

Jadik.. Dah nak siap dah. Yang jadi isu bukan tunnel tp water treatment plant "Langat 2"

Tunnel excavation method used to construct tunnel for this project:-
i. Cut & Cover - Applied for Inlet conduit & basin (1.1 km) and will be fill upon structure completion.
ii. NATM (New Australian Tunneling Method) - Using Drilling & Blasting technique. Applied to 11.6 km of the tunnel.
iii. TBM (Tunnel Boring Machine) - Most of the tunnel excavation will excavate by using 3 nos of TBMs. The tunnel excavated by TBM stretch for about 34.4 km upon completion. Each TBM will excavate about 11.46 km.

...the length of Sungai Langat, the leading source of raw water in the state, was 149.3km -long but the clean water section had been reduced to only 49.3km while the remaining were polluted.
The entire length of Sungai Langat has entered the Class 3 and 4 categories of being polluted and if the quality worsens, it can be considered a dead river...

Raw water capacity is not an issue...patut buat policy baru utk industri/etc. (air-water-ground pollution)
