Blood spots in a hostel room has led police to suspect that a student was involved in a baby flushing case, reported Berita Harian.
A 19-year-old student then admitted to giving birth to a baby girl that was found dead in a sewerage treatment plant in Terengganu.
Police would be detaining the student after a medical examination, while her 20-year-old boyfriend is being tracked down for questioning.
Both of them are from Selangor.
A contract worker found the baby’s body while cleaning the sewerage treatment plant at noon on Aug 29.
The culprit is believed to have flushed the baby down the toilet from the Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) campus in Dungun.
Terengganu CID chief K. Manoharan was quoted as saying that the student had claimed responsibility.
Investigation would be carried out under Section 318 of the Penal Code for concealing birth by secretly disposing the body.
