SUNGAI BULOH: An ex-convict, barely two weeks out of prison, stabbed his wife to death in a drunken stupor in their home in Ladang Bukit Darah.
The suspect, who was released from prison on Oct 12, allegedly burst into his home after binge drinking at around 8pm on Sunday and accused his wife, Murugamal Kuppusamy, 35 of having an affair.
A fight started and the man grabbed a 32cm-long knife and stabbed his wife several times. Drenched in her own blood, Murugamal ran out to her neighbour’s house screaming for help. The man went after her and stabbed the mother of six another time in the back.
Gombak OCPD ACP Abdul Rahim Abdullah said the man fled after he was threatened by the neighbours, leaving his wife to die in a pool of blood. "He later surrendered himself to the Aman Jaya police station at 9.40pm.
"The case is being investigated under Section 324 and 506 of the Penal Code," he said, adding that Murugamal had been working here as an estate farmer for about three-months. Her body has been sent to the Sungai Buloh Hospital for a post-mortem.
The eldest child of the couple Thaban, 15, said his father was a violent man who would usually come home drunk. "He would beat my mother every time. It was so bad that she made us (children) live with our other relatives," said Thaban, adding that his siblings were aged between 6 and 15.
