KUALA LUMPUR: An aspiring mathematician miscalculated with a move on a woman – and ended up in court instead.
Universiti Malaya PhD student Abdalqader M.A. Mustafa has been charged in a magistrate’s court with molest. He had allegedly hugged a 23-year-old woman and slapped her butt at a residential college here.
Abdalqader, a 31-year-old Pales­tinian, pleaded guilty to hugging the woman from the front and slapping her buttocks at the main entrance of the university’s 12th residential college administration office in Brick­fields at 7.35am on July 17.
He, however, pleaded not guilty to having hugged the woman from the back near a staircase in the university’s 12th residential college in Brickfields at 7.05am.
The woman works as an executive in Petaling Jaya, and it is not known why she was in the residential college at that hour. She did, however, lodge a complaint against him on the same day.
Later, after some hesitation, Abdalqader claimed he did not understand the charges against him.
Prosecuting officer Chief Insp Nom Phot Prackdit applied for a new date to get an interpreter who could help him understand the charges.
The court set Aug 28 for mention to get an Arabic interpreter.
In the same court, an unemployed man was charged with murdering his elderly neighbour.
